I'll be sending bwildman his questions tomorrow, then he has to reply to them all (its best not to rush that!) and send them back. They will appear on the BrainKing.info site shortly.
BBW's interview should be there soon too :o)

You can pay for a Brain Rook membership and the rest of your current membership will be used to extend the new one.

Thad, either purchase a rook membership in the usual way and Fencer will convert the remaining days of your knight membership into rook.
Or, contact Fencer to get an amount to pay to upgrade and change the amount when you go through the payment process.

On a serious note. Fencer
You say the BKR have been recalculated back to the year dot. How did you go about the 3 month black hole period where all bkr changes were lost?

25. October 2004, 16:46:20
harley
How many games must you have completed before you get a graph for it?

the one thing I found the best about the graph is it actually shows what your highest ever acheived rating is. I dont believe before we could tell what this was.

Subject: BKR History Graphs
Nice feature Fencer. Do you know if anyone's ratings changed very much with this calculation? I meant to make a copy of my own BKR ratings before the recalculation to compare, but I forgot. I can tell that on the Statistics page that I look like I'm in a different position on the charts then before, but not sure if I changes, or if others just complete more games.... wish I could go back and look... :-)

Anyway, graphs are great! Now I can see in Battleboats I was up to over 2000 but plunged to about 1600 in a matter of a month or so....

if that someone always had lower rated opponents his/her rating wont change that much ... if the one with 7 wins and 3 losses always played the highest rated person then the wins would add a lot

I am just wondering how someone with 126 wins, 1 draw, and 0 losses can be rated lower than someone with 7 wins and 3 losses.

Doesn't that seem odd?

but more then just Czech Checkers - all checker variants, so I never even bothered to see if that rule change worked in other variants!

Plus it said that it was a bug that was fixed, not a major rule that was changed. I just figured there was some bug that I did not know about, not that it was a rule change. O'well - I'm beter now. :-)

Fencer And new games again 1. September 2004, 09:45:31
Modified by Fencer (1. September 2004, 10:17:43)
BrainKing brings 3 new games - Jarmo, Alquerque and Froglet. My thanks go to white for those little froggies and Sinay for boards of Jarmo and Alquerque. Yes, I know that boards for Jarmo and Alquerque are too big, I will add smaller ones soon.
Besides, lots of bugs was fixed (!!!!!e.g. multiple jumps in Czech Checkers!!!!!) and added several improvements.

Subject: Suggestion
Can I suggest that when rules are changed for any games, that they be announced somewhere other then in one game messageboard? Maybe like in Server news.

I just found out today while reading the Czech Checkers message board about an important rule change that effects most checker varent games which would alter the way I would play the game a lot, and the rule change was made on Sept 1st!

Anyway, Just a suggestion that any rule change for any game should be announced in System News - even if it effects a few users, I believe it is important enough to announce.

Thanks.

Subject: do away with pawns???
I dont think so. Then Fencer might as well just shut down the site. Pawns are important to the site as far as having more peopleto play. Also if you dont give someone a chance to play for free at the beginning how will they get a chance to see how good this site is? Besides there are several who cant afford to pay for a membership due any number of circumstances. I was a pawn for a long time too. However now I am able to afford membership, I bought a membership through December 2005 plus have helped a couple of others attain a membership as well. I do beleive that 20 games and unlimited moves is more than generous when compared to IYT who has only 25 moves a day for non paying members. I think we could limit the number of moves per day on pawns though. Maybe unlimited moves for the first 60 days and then after that limit them to 50 moves a day. 50 moves for many is still a lot of moves per day.I would be willing to bet the average pawn carries 10-12 games so that would average out to 4-5 moves per game per day. Not too bad.

Grampa AD, I will not remove posts just because you happen to disagree with them, no matter how many private messages you send me. (Which, by the way, I can't reply to privately since you have me on enemies. If you insist on sending me messages like that, I'll have to place you on enemies too)

LongJohns post was controversial, but it is a point that has been raised before and I don't see that it is any different than other occasions where the pawn (and rook/knight) membership has been discussed. There is only one part of that post that I think could be found offensive which I will edit.

However, there are a lot of other posts which have been made in the last 2 days which I consider to have crossed the line. Its better to make your point without insults, then your post will have a chance of staying :o) I don't like editing posts but I will now to keep the peace of this board and to keep it on topic.

Stevie, there is nobody on hide as far as I can see. Nev Nake, thank you for editing your post.
