but surely even if it was hidden well you wouldnt use it again on another game as all games can be checked for any plans that are used often .

I disagree....that is part of the game. If I have hidden my boats that well, why should you get to find out my tricks? I say leave it the way it is :)

It appears you've fixed it Fencer.

Cool, though I suppose MenisFromVenis and xabiron might wonder what happened. We haven't had anyone new join the top of the list in awhile now. Congratulations Mely. I'm looking forward to our next game.

He (Mely) has a rating. He's not listed in the Dark Chess chart. He's played nine games. He should be listed in the Provisional chart.

Yes, that's right Big Bad Wolf, I didhave a game restored. that would explain it. I'm surprised the computer doesn't change the scoring.

I don't think it's possible to set up team tournaments yet. I guess the first one is a test?

If you want to enter a team in the current team tournament, the captain has to do it.

Who sets up team tournaments? Is it the captain? or the big boss? If the latter, I cant see how to go about it.

Battleboat Board - Yup, 1 board for all the Battleboat games. (I added the other 2 game types to the description of the board since I think it would be best to have 1 board for all the boat games.)

BBW, is there a separate board for dark battleboats or have they been combined into the classic battleboats board? This discussion would be better on the appropriate board anyway!

Subject: Re: re: Help!!
That is correct.
  • You get as many shots as you have your boats unsunk. So you start the game with placing 5 boats, and get 5 shots. if your opponent sinks one of your boats, you only have 4 boats left - leaving you with 4 shots left.

    Tip for Battleboats Plus - If you find one of your opponenets boats, the quicker you can sink it, the better - because it will take away one of their shots.

    (Note: Dark battleboats you always get 3 shots no matter how fast you sink the ships)

    Tablut games both archived and in progress are often giving incorrect numbers of captured black pieces. It's not a major problem but slightly inconvenient.

    Subject: re: Help!!
    The game looks OK to me, and looks like you do only have 1 boat left that is unsunk.

    First 3 moves of the game, you got to take 5 shots each turn because you had 5 boats that were unsunk.
    Turn 4 you had 4 shots because you only had 4 boats left unsunk
    Turn 5 you had 3 shots because you only had 3 boats left unsunk
    Turn 6 you had 2 shots because you only had 2 boats left unsunk.

    Now turn 7, you only have 1 boat left unsunk, so you only get 1 shot.

    i went under both boards in my BB+ game, it says i have 1 boat left, it only let me make 1 move, and there's no way i only have 1 boat left, it's game#392517 with cole. i have not been able to take the right amount of shots thru the entire game, i mentioned this on the feature bd. yesterday, i should have put the game# then.

    In the pair of games Walter mentioned he is rated about 2400 and me about 2000. We have both played between 130 and 150 games.

    In the first, I won and moved up 13 points. Walter moved down 8 points. So far so good.

    In the second he won and moved up 8 points and I moved down 13 points.

    This was a zero gain for both. I would expect to move up a bit after splitting the games. Of course it has worked out well for me when I split against lower players, so I'm not complaining, I just don't think the formula is a good one.

    Walter - It also depends on how many games you have finished & how many games your oppenent has finished. In thery, the more games you have completed, the more "stable" your rating will be.

    3 game Crowded rating - You should only get a rating after 4 games. By any chance did a game of crowded get timed out, then restored? (UPDATE: Yea, your game with "JustTina" which was timed out, giving you a rating - then it was restored, but the computer kept your rating viable instead of putting you back to "unrated".)

    ==============
    I also some-what question some of the rankings - how in the new battleboat games for example, everyone's ratings started really low - even if you won all your games, you were still in the 1500-1700 range. Yet in Amazons, a few quickly jumped to the 2000+ range in no time at all. (Sorry, I can't check myself because I can't see what everyone's "unrated" rating is.) :-(

    Subject: The ratings.
    OK Fencer, I'll post it here then.

    Is the ratings thing working correctly? I've noticed that it seems rather arbitrary with the points it gives and takes. If I'm 300 points ahead of my opponent, shouldn't he gain more than me if he wins? And lose less the me if he loses?
    Also, I'm rated in Crowded Backgammon, even though I've only played 3 games. Mely is not listed on the provisional Dark Chess list even though he's played 9 games and has a rating of 2284.

    =============================================

    The 300 difference question comes from two game that "grenv" and I just finished.

    Mely has replied to my query. He doesn't know why he's not listed. His theory is that he's won every game and ELO (I don't know what he means by ELO, but Electric Light Orchestra is probably not what he has in mind) doesn't recognize him for some reason. I replied that GothicInventor has won everygame and he's listed. So what gives?
