Tyhis is the right board, its misuse of something done to the site to help others.

I have already started removing players like this from my tournaments, but these games were started many months ago. But most players ive removed dont act like this in these circumstances. But then again, he is still a minor anyways.

And who are you to tell me where to post?

Its called tournaments..... no control over who you play, and even if you dont play them, you still have to wait for them, as a tournament is set up to play at the pace of the slowest player. I agree with Steve, that its just a lack of courtesy when someone who is holding up a tournament does so even when they are on here often and are able to play at a much faster pace, if they werent so obstinent. (BTW...being obstinent is nothing to be proud of)

I think it is a conspiracy to make every pay atleast for two years membership, as most tournaments take that long, or more, to complete ;)

Games will not time out. Nothing stops players from using that to delay games, so such is allowed. I am not sure that this board is a suitable place for your personal complaints against Kevin.

IMupChucKing: It's a matter of trust, nothing else. Nobody is obliged to support us, everything is voluntary.
bwildman: Do you really think it's possible to purchase a whole new server for 400 or 500 USD? You cannot buy more than several components to replace the damaged ones in the current "same old equipment" [as you call it] which is exactly what the money was used for. We cannot just wait for more funds and do nothing at the meantime. When something is malfunctioning, it MUST be fixed immediately. Q.E.D.

Its to allow for players who cant get on here, not to allow the ones here to stretch things even further. you are wrong.

If game time is suspended, that means that no one is required to move. If you don't like how quickly someone moves, then don't play them again. What more needs to be said?

I was under the impression that the $ donated was to be saved to help pay for a new server.

I suppose it does not matter exactly, if that money was used for other things related to brainking, and then use money collected from memberships, for example, to pay for a new server.

Maybe if we are really concerned, we could hold donated funds in an escrow account until the time to purchase this new server, so there would be no possible other uses for money that we want used to buy a new server.

Hey Steve, what's your real point? To keep provoking me until I stop responding and then you will claim "he is ignoring my questions again"? Don't waste your time. If you want to continue, choose another board. General Chat, for example.

bwildman: They were used for BrainKing, of course. I don't think you expect me to send you copies of bills of hardware components we had to buy, just to keep BrainKing alive. If you don't trust me, nobody forces you to support us anymore.

Steve, very good point.
Fact is, all you do gooders brush over this stuff but dont you all realize this is a situation where someone, Kevin, is basically saying "screw you" to everyone.
It is insulting to all his/her opponents and if I were in Steve's shoes, it would irk me too.
It is blatant disregard and not very good traits to have if you are customer service.

You're Fired Kevin

yes, he has been on every day. he was on in the night. he has been posting on boards too. He does this every time you suspend the time.
Look at his game list, I am not the only one.

3. July 2004, 15:44:05

Can you prove he is doing it deliberately, purposefully? I guess not.

3. July 2004, 15:39:42

thats not my point. he is deliberately going over the time limit. Thats past the rules surely????

3. July 2004, 15:36:27
Fencer
It's hard to do when he's not here.
Moreover, he doesn't break any rules.
You can play unlimited number of games Steve, so why is one slow game with Kevin such a big problem?

So how about doing something about Kevin and speak to him?

I know we cant complain normally about KEVIN and his moving ways.
But, every time we get the suspended time thing he does this.
He was on 6 hrs ago, and has been each day and even posting on boards. He has let many games time out, but when FENCER says that it will start again, he will rush and do them.

NOW TELL ME I SHOULDNT COMPLAIN.
I reckon the games should be ended and we win.

Have you tried to 'Hide Message Archive' at the bottom of you game page ?
It just sends you back to your Main screen. I only knew when a Pawn messaged me saying they were trying to get theres back and this kept happening to them.

Bernice: When it happens, it means that the database server refused to insert your post/move because of a current overload. It's just a feature of database servers and there are two ways, in general, how to fix it:

1) Optimize the application/database code and infrastructure. It is already done and it's called BK 2.0.
2) Optimized code bring one consequence - since the site is faster, it can serve more requests at once. Which, of course, makes the site slower. It's a common problem of all sites with non-sufficient hardware. The remaining solution is to replace the current database server by a new one, faster one.

Please note that we are still running on the same hardware configuration as we started with two years ago. It's a small miracle [thanks to Liquid] that it still runs in kind of acceptable way.

I not sure everyone would consider them harmless, Viking. But even if this were so, it is still the wrong board for such things. People come here to post about BrainKing, and read about it. Not to read page after page of arguments between grown men. If they really have to argue, as Stevie says, there are more appropriate boards.

Subject: Harley,
what exactly is wrong about arguments? What harm can they possibly do? Especially when I am willing to bet that usually those involved in these HARMLESS arguments find them entertaining. And so do I.

And besides, even kids in kindergarden are allowed to have arguments. It is kinda absurd that they are not allowed between adults in an internet discussion board :).
