BerniceC, there is a team tournament that has been organized by Fencer. Big Bosses can enter a team if they want to.
Go the the fellowship where you are a member of the backgammon team and ask the captain if you are playing in the tournament.

30. June 2004, 10:12:21
Stevie
Bernice, your name isnt on it, so you are not in it, and noone has signed you to it.
what it means is that you belong to a backgammon team in one of the fellowships you belong to. so best go look at them all and see which one you joined :o)

Bernice: I don't see you as signed up. Furthermore, it's a captain of the team who signs up the whole team at once, not me, so you must complain to him.

on my main page on the left hand side it has Team Tournaments.. with a red (1) beside it...when i go in it says im signed up for a tournament that Fencer is the creator of....dont ever remember signing for that :(
would this be why I cant join "TheZoo" backgammon team?

When you get a chance Fencer, try to post a "known bug list" that way we will try not to keep sending you notes about the same bugs.

I would like to ask everyone who wants to report a bug to send it to info@brainking.com instead of posting here. Then it will be much easier for me to make a TODO list out of them and not to miss anything. Thank you.

oh good, so Fencer will publicly tell us that you have paid. That is great and a good show of spirit.

I simply want to offer people the chance to play a tourney faster. Remember, pawns only can play 1 tourney at a time. If we want to do them a favour, the more variety the better.

When is Fencer making the declaration of your payment and on what board?

I have spoken to Fencer, and the money is on the way,and that is between me and him,i'm getting the idea that you are just trying to make me look bad,any time you want too,we can have a tournament against each other,so we can finish in one day, with a prize on the line money up front because you can't be trusted. As said earlier, this is not the place and time to settle our differences.:o)What part do you not understand.

30. June 2004, 05:31:21
coan.net
LongJohn - There is a difference between offering an alternative and attacking another persons tournament.

Yes, I have not signed up for that other tournament mostly because I don't want to play in a tournament that has 2 backgammon games (too many games), but I found it really funny how you complain about how long his tournament will last, but you have in the past at the last minute switched a tournament with MANY MANY pawn in it to 30 days per move just because you could....... which is the reason I will not join your tournament. It is nothing I would have brought back up normally, but find it funny how you complain about the exact thing you have done in the past.

30. June 2004, 05:27:30
LongJohn
that is in the past and behind us.
I have already proposed paying for the prize prior to starting the tourney. I ask that you do the same.
I have also made my tourney a 1 day time limit to assist people to finish.
All I ask is that you pay for the prize prior to starting the tourney, or else dont start it.
Is that too much? If you intend paying for the prize, why not now?

Oh, and another point, you yourself intentionally move as slow as possible to delay games. I think that is a generally accepted fact about you now.

BBW there is no point bringing up the past, what are you trying to prove? Fact is, it is plainly obvious that Bill's tournament will cause much delay for pawns as I am sure you must agree with. That is not fair and I am simply offering another alternative with the promise of money on the table first.

Universal Eyes
Thanks BBW you made a very good point there,i did'nt know about that part, but seeing how you put it in,it is all in open, and your right about keeping this board open to new bugs not that bug LOL.it will save Fencer alot of reading, instead of nonsence.thanks BBW your a true friend in my books.

Universal - You forgot to mention how LongJohn changed the time limit to 30 days per move, then took away the prize, then started it without anyone having a chance to find out about the new setting - and having many people & pawns stuck in the tournament - some still stuck, with his words of why he did it as "because he could."

.... but this discussion should really be moved off this board to another board like General Chat, and keep this board open to new bug reports & BK2.0 questions.

30. June 2004, 04:27:41
Universal Eyes
Are you speaking for Fencer again, you will eat your words, what about your prize tournament that needed 200 players or no prize, then you kept deleting the people,so it would reach 200 so you go figure what was you motive, put up or stand pat.And why would you want 200 players so again i prove my point, how long would that last 8yrs,you contredict yourself everytime you speak, sorry fencer just proving a point for you and me.

30. June 2004, 04:17:09
LongJohn
there is no point lying about it. People join a prize tourney for a chance at winning a prize.

If you get a pawn to join a tourney that lasts 4 years, that means they cannot join any other tourneys for 4 years. That is not fun. Anyone with half a brain can see that you are simply tying everyone up with no intention of playing

I DO NOT INTEND TO START MINE UNTIL FENCER DECLARES THAT THE PRIZES HAVE BEEN DONATED ALREADY. HOW ABOUT WE ALL WAIT UNTIL FENCER DECLARES THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY DONATED THE PRIZES.

We know you wont because you have no intention of ever paying up. Prove me wrong. Pay now and have it verified and I will eat my words, otherwise, stop wastig the poor pawns time.

Also, if it is only for fun, then why did you offer a prize to start with. I think we all know why dont we !!!

This site is for fun,if you like playing for fun the longer it last the better,if you enjoy playing,as for the two games it's only fair to let some skill come into effect seeing how the dice can roll the wrong way in a game, any backgammon player knows that.102 people will disagree with that issue.

2 extra page loads (without auto-pass) I can live with, but 4 extra page loads (without auto-pass & "move and go to" button) is a little too much - The server is stressed enough! :-)

Update on a "bug" i posted about earlier.

I've noticed on all the boat games that when you set up a board, you don't have the "Move and go to" option. (only the Move option)

Also on games where you don't have any moves, so without auto-passing - it also does not have the "Move and go to" button, only the Move button.

All you pawns, dont waste your time on a 2 year long tourney, this will run much much faster. Leave the long one and sign up for a tourney that offers results in a shorter period of time

Link Edited to work. (damn feature shows up errors LOL)

Correction on Move Length

I feel sorry for the pawns that have to wait 10 DAYS (I originally thought it was 5 and just checked and it was 10 which is 2 weeks per single move. that is only 26 moves for a whole year so a single longish 52 move game may take as long as 4 years if both players play the max length) per move simply to try and win a rook membership.

Here is the deal all you pawns.

Leave that long drawn out tourney, join mine which will only be 1 day per move and I will donate a rook membership to the winner and also a rook membership to the runner up.

Both will be paid for to Fencer prior to the tourney starting. I will create and post the link shortly

I think the tournament is 5 days per move right?
Considering many who joined are very very slow players, a tourney that size may take upwards of a year.
I suggest to all pawns not to join such a long tourney as you will not be able to join any other tournaments and there will be no result for well over 1 year guaranteed

Subject: New Question for Fencer
Before, a Pawn/Knight needed 5 spaces free for any tournament (10 for the 2-game tournaments).

Is that still the same? Or has it been changed to depend on how many games are started?

Subject: Questions and answers
It is justmy point of view. However since many people have the same sort of questions about the new version of Brainking. It would be wise to post concerns here as then Fencer can answer many people with one posting instead of trying to private message everyone. Liquid and Fencer both work other jobs, have families and upkeep this site. Please help them being patient and understanding. The more private messages they have to respond to the less time they have to work out the bugs on the site. So in my view the best way to get an answer to a question is to make a posting on a board. Also if other members know the answer they can aid Fencer and Liquid by answering on their behalf which also frees up some time for them. Again it is just my point of view..

Why all this noice about login. I dont type anything, i just click "login" when my name and password has "popped up".
If you have 50 games to play and have to click "submit" 50 times cant you click "login" once? :)

Subject: Re: LOGIN
I would encourage you to give a more wait and see approach. Fencer works a fulltime job as well as keeping up this site and making time for his family. THings have been busy with the whole switchover. It has been said in one of the discussion boards that it was done to give player accounts more security. By having players login they are more protected against hacking situation. There must be a threat of someone wanting to hack into player accounts or they would not have it set up this way. Please give the whole thing some time.
