Well one of the reasons I'm asking is my sister plays here, and she might be put on bed rest. They planned ahead and put a computer next to the bed, but I guess that computer is not working now - so i'm now watching her games on here (and Dailygammon & Pocket-Monkey). But if I know that she will get more vacation days on January 1st, I'll just stick her on vacation that way I don't have to play any of her games.... (Which I would rather not play unless they are getting ready to time out.)
I'm sure loads of people have loads of questions for him! Please send them to me with a note saying if your name can be used with the question or not. Ask as many questions as you like, but please remember he is under no obligation to answer them!! LOL! So get writing!! :oD
Aaah yeah, its in settings! Thanks Harley, I was looking for the calender bit in my profile & wondered where it had gone! lol
Anyway the days I need are already marked holiday so I dont need to do it afterall! lol
Rose, the questions have been sent to Liquid, (he was the one before!) and once he has answered them it will be posted at BrainKing.info - I'll put a link here so people know when. But Liquid is a very busy man and English isn't his first language - plus its quite a long interview :o)
tanks for the info harl!!!
I think I was expecting to see the interview cuz you mentioned the latest one being Bumble.. dont mind me! Carry on! hahahaha
LOL Interview with Bumble,Oh this is gonna be good.Harley,if they get questions they'd rather not answer, how does that work? Do they throw them out or leave them in unanswered?
No, I think it would be fairer to remove the questions. That way there won't be any chance of people getting on their backs about why they didn't answer 'such a question'.... Does that sound OK?
BBW If your sisters computer can't be fixed, webtv would be a cheap alternative.Easy to use, wireless keyboard and remote. She can play lying down if she wants. It is also small enough to be taken to the hospital.I took mine during my stay and wouldn't go without it.My webtv was a lifesaver during my doctor ordered bed rest.I love my webtv....
Ummm, thanks, Linda & noholdsbarred! You have the job, noholds, IF I ever become interviewee!! LOL! But theres a whole load of interesting people I'd like to see interviewed before me!
So the total is reset to 30 (in the case of a rook) on January 1? Or does it work like other sites where if you use a vacation day on December 15 2003, you will get that particular day back to use again on Dec 15 2004?
i've never spoken up before because i though i was the only one who noticed.. but i've had a draw affect my bkr before... however, i thought it was supposed to....
As I understand it, draws are suppose to affect ratings. I don't think many usually see it since it affects it less then a win/lose, and if the rating are some-what close to each other, you won't see any change.
But for example you have a player rated 1000, and another player rated 2000 - for the 1000 rated player to not lose and get a draw will get them some points.
I'm not sure of the exact formula, but I was thinking it was posted somewhere.
If the BKR's are significantly different, a draw will affect both ratings. If the ratings are similar anyway, it will hardly touch them (if at all), which is probably why they appear to change with some draws, and not others.
Logically, it seems it should effect it, unless both players are pretty equally rated... Obviously it shouldn't have as much effect as a win or loss. Clearly if a 1200 rated player achieves a draw with a 2400 rated player, their 1200 bkr should go up at least a little.
As other people have pointed out in the past, in many cases it is probably such a small change that it doesnt change the # we see. (as it doesn't go out any decimal points.)
"Each player has a BKR although it is not displayed. Players start with BKR = 1300 and the BKR is not shown until he/she finishes at least 4 rated games"
So if your rating was a lot higher than that, Steve, a draw would make your rating drop quite a lot.
I think unrated are actually rated 1500 (but just shows unrated at first.)
Plus is also has to do with how many games a person has played also. The more games that have been played, the less the rating will go up and down (since it is more established).
I hear all the time of a ratings drop with a draw but I have never heard anyone say they gained any rating points from a draw. I had draws with much higher rated players and they did drop..but I didn't gain. Oh well.
I think unrated WITHOUT any completed games, is 1300. But if you are unrated, but have completed 3 games and won them all, your rating is even higher, though not shown. I only say this because when I signed up for a Tank Battle tournament, I was unrated, but I was at the top of my section, as though I had a high BKR. ( I got lucky, and am actually not that good at Tank Battle !!! :-D )
I do not have a credit card. I do have a check card which doubles as a debit card. Can I use this to pay for a membership on this site. I want to do it online.
