Subject: wow I see fencer created a board for art..
...great,several of us suggested it a while ago.I am so glad he considered it.
I am not a moderator and I hope the mod doesnt mind me expressing this.but it occurs to me this should be said.

I love art, culture, media in its many forms.they are many areas of art that are beautiful but very shall we say liberal.
the human form for example,is beautiful in a wholesome way.but if anyone says that, people may not appreciate the thought because we have so much abuse of women & children, unfortunately in this world.
thus in art, somethings that are tasteful & nice to some, could offend someone else.
in art, there are many grey areas.also, clouding the issue, some things that are not in good taste, some people pass off as art.
---
I unfortunately predict that a board like this could find many controversal posts.
I hope to help us avoid this by appealling from the start to all to remember:
that not just adults use this site
try to keep any link posted to be in good taste.
---
anyway,a painting to share:

it is supposed to have 100 proverbs in it,I searched for a list of them, never found it.

gekrompen hoofd: I think if someone wanted to post a picture of Michaelangelo's David in a public place like a museum would be OK, but if you tried to take that photo to a private place like McDonalds (or private game site like this one), then that would be up to the owner of the McDonalds or private site of what should be allowed to be shown in their own private place.

Freedoms that are hinted at in your post have no place in a privatly owned place. (And BrainKing is still privatly owned and operated.)

freely, and freedom of expression is encouraged...

hey,i agree,I'm a descent guy,but also very liberal.
but I know I should take care not to offend someone who would might be less cosmopolitan.

gekrompen hoofd: The point is that this website is a game site. It is not an art site. It is not a debate site. The discussion boards are here to add a "bonus" to the game playing experiance.

ALL sites on the internet are privately owned, why would that need to be in the user agreement? Everyone who opens a site on the internet buys a domain name, and makes their own site. It should be common knowledge that all sites on the internet are privatly owned.

Yes, this site is reserved for an elite select few - those few are the ones which make an account on this site. You, me, and all other on this site are part of the elite few. But since it is a private site, it has rules. The rules apply to EVERYONE on the site. Let me repeat that. The same rules apply to EVERYONE on the site. No one is being singled out - everyone on this site is expected to follow the same rules. If they do not like the rules, they are always welcomed to leave and find another privatley owned site which will allow them to do what they want to do.

Good Morning All.. you don't realize how excited I was last night to learn I finally had my own board.. and it's regarding pieces of Art..

gekrompen hoofd: Please understand dear that we are not trying to censor. Perhaps certain works we can perhaps just mention in reference and then if someone not familiar with the piece wants to view it, they can do a google search.

Other pieces which do not portray nudity would be appropriate here.. since we do have children on this site.

I am an artist. I do appreciate all forms of art and subject matter of art.. but, I also have to realize that only a small portion of those coming onto this board have the same inner feelings for it.. It upsets me as well that I can't just place a link on the board to show a piece such as "David"; but, I also realize that if I were to allow that.. I would have to allow someones naked photo of whoever as well (just an example).. So therefore we have to limit what we link..

Thanks.. and enjoy the discussions, I look forward to miggling with ya..

my point was this:
yes I beleive in free expression.
but I like to think we have enough discretion to avoid offending anyone of starting an argument.

but also debate is great..as long as we can be mature & not abusive about it.

we can agree to disagree if e have to.

anyway,I donr make the rules

BIG BAD WOLF: Well said BBW and this is a point often missed by all. It boils down to a need for parameters. Someone must decide those parameters and someone must enforce them. Rather like real life. ;)

As I believe this is Scarlet's idea for a discussion board I'll let her clarify if I'm off base here. The purpose of this art discussion board is to promote positive discussions about art. I am an art teacher and although I teach younger children, I'm still a student and recipient of art and I enjoy art in its many forms.

I think the focus will be on positive discussion. Debates are probably better served in the debate forums.

Any fellowship or discussion board is a bonus to this game site. BBW has stated BK's policys well and don't need to be repeated here. Unless Scarlet has anymore to add, this can be the final word on that thread. ;)

Remember, all famous artists started out scribbling. ;)

I'm sure I dont have to remind anyone to make sure they are safe non toxic paints.
I just saw a show all about the history of the chemistry involved in art.it was really interesting.
today we have many modern safe colours.but many of the old masters used compounds based on arsenic,cadmium,lead,antimony,etc.. many had to be used with care.
even today,in ceramics, many of the glazes are toxic.

nobleheart: real pastels are highly toxic as well..

So when you going to become a member there noble or will I have to sponcer ya?? I wanna put you as mod as well.. since you are into the arts also.. :)

you can use yogart as well as pudding..

for older children.. there is a stained glass cookie they can make with a sugar cookie dough.. and then for the stained glass effect they smash up jolly ranchers.. I will have to find the recipe.. the cookies turn out awesome and with the winter holidays just around the corner.. why not?? LOL

I hope to be connected sometime this week.. I moved this past week temporarily.. and what a royal pain it has been.. LOL
Using my moms dial up and lets just say.. I tired easy waiting two mins to download a dang page.. haha.

Anna Lyzethis: I can sketch also by memory.. but, if I want it to look realistic.. I must have it in front of me..

I also paint windows.. mostly for the holidays.. Since I paint on the inside of the window for those to view on the out side.. I have to paint in the detail first.. I have painted windows since I was 15.. just something of a tradition I should say.. I will have to find some of my windows and scan them and put them on a web page that I can link to.. but, that may be some time still due to my situation,.. my things are sitting in storage at the moment.. :(

Regardless Things will get back to normal soon.. :)

Have a wonderful Memorial weekend everyone and I look forward to spending more time later

Scarlet:Have a nice weekend- I'll be waiting for that recipe!!!!!
Hope you're settled with your move soon!
