Matarilevich: so sorry for your little pet dying.I nkow it is hard,no matter if it's a dog,cat guinie pig, rat, snake, whatever, they still touch your heart in so many ways
Gr☺uch☺: I was a mess after we put PAtch down..heck,I still can't take his picture off from being my icon here at the site, lol.I miss him terribly,lol..all the things I use to get mad at him for,I think, how silly of me! I have changed my ways with the new one though,lol..training,excercise,trying to be a much better Mommy with this one.I know Patch loved me even with my faults though, thats the wonderful thing about animals, isn't it
This board is about ANIMALS,I will NOT stand for baiting,or putting down of anyone on this board and that includes mods.I chose who I wanted to mod this board with me..whatever problem ANYONE has with ANYONE else..TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE! Unless you have something positive to contribute to this board...DO NOT POST! All negative posts will be deleted.
Bwild: no bitterness, just hate people that think an animal is just a thing.I never put words into your mouth, simply stated my opinion..and how's this,if you don't care, don't post..this IS an animals board
Bwild: MANY service dogs will bring you a blanket when you are cold,or a bottle of water,or pick up your shoes. So,just because my dog doesn't know I am cold means what??? he doens't FEEL???? THAT is ridiculiuos! Animals are so much BETTER then humans..we have to rationalize EVERYTHING,they just live..they play, they hunt, they love, they mourn.they FEEL.
wow...how long since you guys have had to endure a Damien story?? LMAO!!!!!! been busy with holidays and training, work, hubby's therapy (he may need yet another surgery) So...we have decided to hold off breeding damien..that honestly was always hubby's thing more so then mine..I was content to just go to the pound and adopt. We have decided to get a new pup this coming spring/summer,depending on when the female we picked concieves...we will be getting pup from people we know at the club...I donot think we will breed D at all now.I want to focus on getting him titeled. After I make this post I will be updating his website page...I found a new site thatnks to someone I play here at the site and it is VERY easy to navigate and you don't have to sign up for an account.I know for a long time people were having troulbe navigating snapfish this one is very easy.D is doing well in training althought his bite work isn't coming along as well as we has hoped. He is still young though, only 10 months so I'm not overly concerned.Even if my guy never titles or anything,he has a blast at the club, and I have a blast being out there working with him!!!
Rose: shows how much I know about cats,huh,lol...I can read dogs, kitties I'm a bit off on them.Shame the poor thing, still think it needs a hug!! I can't imagine people wanting to hurt an animal to the point that this is the end result.People like that are going to a very bad place when they die.
rednaz23: I don't know much about cats,BUT the first thing that I would do is hit google.com and read as much as you can about the breed, then hit the library,THEN call a local vet..I have had my german shepard since March and I STILL read and learn all that I can about the breed.Hope this helps a bit
My dear friend lost her german shepard this past weekend.I just wanted to tell you again how very sorry I am for that. You rescued her and gave her a WONDERFUL life, one she never would have had if it hadn't been for you.She was loved and she knows it.She is happy,in a place she will forever be young and able to play.
Well,I can't say is is doing REALLY,REALLY well, but I cna say that he is having a BALL being there, lol. He seems to be getting the hang of tracking...he seems to be settleing down a bit when I am running him through his obidiance training around the othe dogs and people..He started his bite work training last Sunday..THAT was fun!! He would latch on to the sleeve toy that they have to train the younger dogs...the trainer drags it along the ground, the dog chases it and then bites onto it.Damien would bite on to it,start shaking it..then,out of the corner of his eye,he would see the leaves blowing, let go of the toy and POUNCE on the leaves,LMAO!!!! The trainer was laughing telling me to remember..he may be 90 pounds but he is STILL just a pup!!! If for some reason Damien is not cut out for compition in this sport,we will still take him to the club for training,he loves it! We will still be getting him into the agility this Feb.He has to be at least a year old for that.
BerniceC: oh that makes me sick..here's a good punishment...bounding their legs, beating them, dragging them behind a car,and putting a bag over their heads..anyone else agree?
Well, yesterday I learned how to lay a track and to show D how to run that track,I think I will do that 3 or 4 times a day with him.He flubbed all but one of his obidiance commands when I was showing the trainer. He has never worked around other dogs or peole,so when he TRIES to do it,he wants to play instead of work,so he is not allowed to play with the other dogs in the park from now on.He HAS to learn to ignore them.I am to go back to the reward after EVERY good command. He was sent home with a toy made from the smae stuff bite sleeves are made with.THAT part he loves, lol.I know he will do good with the bite work, lol. He is doing good at holding the dumbell,he is up to about 4 seconds of hold while sitting. He has a long road ahead with this training..I hope I am up for it!!
Rose: wow!! really surprised that they didn't just put the kitten down!! A few years back,oh probaby more like 10 or so now (how the time flys!) A woman was getting into her car and noticed that there was a guy tying a collie to the back of his car,to the bumper...the guy got in the car and started to drive off! The woman jumped in her car, called the police while following him..I guess some others had seen what was going on and also chased the guy down. When they finally got him to stop, she ran, untied the dog,got the dog into her car and strait to the animal ER.It was the one I use to work at.By the grace of God the dog survived..I truely have no idea how though. Most of her fur and skin had been ripped from her body, broken bones. She had said the dog tried running as much as she could to keep up with the car but finally her legs just gave out.The woman ended up adopting the dog...I would like to know how the rest of her life was.I'm sure the woman made sure she had as happy and loving life as she could. The dog would, just from age,be dead by now.The guy that did this, got a fine and told he was never permitted to own another dog.My thought..HE should have been tied to a bumper and see how long HE could run to keep up with the car before finally colapsing and being drug behind it! Laws DO need to be changed...animals have feeling and thoughts, and hurt when in pain, and it pises me off that anyone could do such things to animals!!!!
Rose: I think it shows a sick, weak person...anyone that would abuse an animal like that....If you want to hurt something, try a person your own size that would probably whop the snot right out of you.Hurting or killing a kitten doesn't make a man...someone that would take the time and get that kitten from a tree,or give it some love,THAT is a man.
Subject: WARNING..sensitive material!!!!!!!! Peta update on butterball
On April 13, one worker showed how he could paralyze birds by repeatedly punching their necks. No animal should be subjected to such cruel treatment. That is why PETA's unique undercover investigations are so important: They help us expose—and hopefully stop—animals from suffering such horrible pain and abuse. PETA investigations take months or even years to arrange. They are expensive and dangerous, placing the safety and even the lives of our undercover workers at risk. Yet our investigators have succeeded in bravely securing video footage from factory farms and slaughterhouses in order to amass irrefutable evidence of the atrocities that take place there. There's nothing comparable to having someone inside a slaughterhouse witnessing this abuse firsthand and exposing what animal abusers try so desperately to hide. If you are disgusted by this senseless animal abuse, please take these three important steps today:
Send a letter to your member of Congress. Ask your representative why birds aren't covered by the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act. Ask him or her to initiate a federal investigation of the Butterball plant and other cases of animal abuse.
On May 3, another worker swung a live turkey like a baseball bat against a metal bar, smashing the bird's head and spraying blood everywhere. On May 8, one worker laughed out loud as he crushed a turkey's skull with the heel of his boot.
On July 13, two workers attempted to decapitate a live turkey by twisting her neck and pulling her head through a hole in her enclosure.
Tuesday: yes, actually, dogs CAN suffer from a tramatic incident. He still must work through this issue though. Our Dalmatain was fine when we went and got him, walked right up to him no trouble at all. After we had him, nobody else could come up to him that easily,if at all, really.Vet said he may have association that we came and took him...maybe someone else will come and take him.Like I said though, you NEED to get him through this issue :)
Tuesday: sounds like he needs to be decenitized (sp) put him on his leash and make him site about 6 feet away from the door...have someone walk through it...if he starts acting up,you IMIDIATLY say NO! or AHH-AHH and walk him away from the situation.Down the hall, whatever s he can't see what is going on anymore.Walk him back a few feet at a time and make him sit after each time you stop. This will help get him out of this frame of mind..You will have to keep doingthis with your dog...don't overwhelm him though.Only do it about 5 or so times at first, while teaching him.EVERYTIME though when someone just comes to the door, say to visit you.REPITITION is the key.
srnity: you should think twice about ever letting an unfixed male off lead...they are way more prone to running away...they have been known to run for MILES when they have the scent of a female in heat.
gogul: His dog, besides the jumping is friendly, but yes, when it is a known jumper, you should keep it on a leash. There are alot of elderly that walk down there, what is she jumps on one of them and knocks them down...would that be the elderly person fault then? No,it wouldn't.How much does it take to just put the lead on her.All the other dogs that are off lead are all well behaved. It's not them being off lead I have the problem with,it is the BEHAVIOR of the dog.And you're right...they WOULDN'T admit it was a problem with her.
srnity: Damien gets along well with all the dogs...my thing was the dog jumping on ME,lol...and the guy blaming ME for his dog jumping...Even if it was a different situation though, and it was my dog havig problems with the others...WHY should I have to take him somewhere else? He is on a leash (under the township ordinance, they HAVE to be) the others are not..so agian, why should I have to leave?
So,this morning,I take Damien down to the park. There is a HUGH sign before you even go onto the main trail of the park saying by the ordinance (gives the ordinance number) of the township, dogs MUST be kept under control at all times.Damien is one of only 3 that I know of that is always on a leash.First off,it's the LAW,second,he is still a pup,he is not fixed,he is a very expensive dog...you get the point,he is NEVER off leash. Most dogs down there ARE off leash..this is what happened today..I was walking Damien down the trail and around the corner comes a dog that I know well,an older overweight lab that jumps on EVERYONE! The dog came RUNNING up to me,anticipating the jump,I turned sideways and yelled,OFF! to her.She jumped, pushed me backwards,Damien was to my side, not doing anything but standing there..wasn't jumping at her or trying to play with her.The dog KEPT jumping on me,I yelled at her agian..I hear her Mom say,why are you jumping? I am thinking,SHE ALWAYS JUMPS!She ripped the cord of my ipod off of me, Her Dad yells for her to get her fat ass down...mind you,she is still jumping on me!Her Dad came over to get her down and he says..do you have treats on you? I said, well yeah, for my dog..he says well that the reason she is jumping on you.I said Jesus Christ (sorry, lol) you know I love dogs BUT that is ridiculious, the dog jumps on everyone all the time!(I am saying this as she is STILL trying to jump on me!) He says well, she was trained and then untrained. So,my thing is...I don't care if you were holding a steak in front of my dog's face...he has had enough training and learned manners to NOT jump on people! And if he did jump on people,he would be on lead! I think the guy was TOTALLY out of line to blame ME for HIS dog jumping! I am right or wrong here??
My little boy graduated from advanced class Monday! This Sunday we are taking him to the club and seeing what goes on there, and then Monday bright and early down to Akron!!!!
ok,sorry, well, not really,LMAO!!!! I am so proud of Damien!! He s just such a totally awesome dog! I take him to the park almost everyday and he does so well,I think my head will explode if I become anymore prouder of him!!!! He pretty much is non-reactive to walking past people anymore,Dogs, well,he still gets excited but will sit and let them walk up to him before he stands to greet them.He stands though before I give the release, but hey, practice makes perfect, right!!??!! People comment ALL THE TIME how well behaved he is and how good his manners are.I feel like my kids just scored the winning touch down!!! I don't even have kids,LOL!!!!! He walks well, comes to side when I stop walking, waits till I tell him ok,let's go.Well,I could talk untill you PM me to shut up about him,LOL!!! Just wanted you to know how well he is doing and how proud I am of him!
Tuesday: I read the shepards are known to do it,but like I said, not Little D,lol. He does some big old butt wiggles though when he gets excited,so that's cool,LOL!!!
Tuesday: I use to clean house for a woman that had a dog that would smile...it was the funniest thing in the world! The more you would rub her tummy, the bigger her smile would get! I haven't seen one since that will smile.German shepards are suppose to be known to smile but Damien has yet to to it,lol. You'll have to send me a pic of her!!
Tuesday: He is my first shepard..he is so awesome, smart doesn't even begin to describe him either! You know something so funny,he loves to watch TV..his favorite shows are Meerkat Manor and football,LOL!!! Meerkats are on for 30 minutes,he watched 25 of 30 minutes,I mean sat there and WATCHED the tv,LMAO!!!! (even the advertisments!!)
Jules: AWWWWW!!!! They remind me of Brutus!! We had a little kitten, the mother rejected him so we had to feed him,up every few hours with him, that's very sweet! Are you keeping them?

well,as all of you know,Damien will be going into shutzhund traing the end of October.I was only going to take him through training to obtain levels 1 and 2..obidience and tracking. After ALOT of reading, research and soul searching,I have decided to take him into level 3 training also, which is protction. This animal is my passion and the only thing that would be holding him back, would be me.I think he would THRIVE in all the training and I want to take him as high as he can go.The sky is the limit for this animal.Alot of people are against this training, saying it will make him meaner or change him in some way,but I have met many dogs with this training and they are wonderful animals.I just want the best for Damien and I think this is it.
Gemina: GOATIE!!!! OMG! that must be the fattest little goat I have ever seen in my life! She is my little buddy huh? The first time we went there Gemina and I were reading the stories behind the animals and we were crying...ours husbands thought we were whacked,lol....sad though!
I have just updated the pics of Damien at damiensroom.snapfish.com It will ask you to create an account if you go look but that is just so I know how many people view the albums.
Rose: I would love to hit the lotto one day (soon, lol) cuz I would move out into the country and buy up 100's of acres and make a shelter for the animals...not just the dogs and cats but exotic too.Google Noahs lost ark,it is a rescue in our area for exotics, good cause! My husband's guys take the dead deer they pick up off the road to them for the big cats. I have never understood people that question how much you spend on an animal.I have no kids so I see no difference in spending the money on Damien vs. a kid.I would take my kid to get his shots, buy him toys and treats and good food for his belly.Animals have feeling too for pete's sake.My brother in law asked once (he is not an animal lover) why do you have dogs they stink..I said why do you have kids, they can get a bit smelly themselves, can't they? He just walked away, lol.
wetware: I love hearing stuff like this you guys!!! I get newsletters from Peta alot and try not to post to much negative stuff here, although,I think it needs to be posted at times,to keep people informed.Stories like this make me feel good! Never trust a person that wouldn't help an animal!!
Rose: my first day at the shelter,we put down like 50 cats.It is sad.So many were sickly,or feral though and could never be adopted out. Most however were just unlucky enough to be born to irrisponsible owners.
Rose: Do you keep them Rose or do you foster them untill they get adopted? I think it is great what you are doing.People that help the animals go to heaven!!
