I resigned my one friendly game to get over it, I even got the "You resigned your game against..." message, yet it still shows up as a live game with my opponent's turn to move. Is that normal?
I'm sure all you had to do was ask Fencer to start the next round, which no doubt he now will. Obviously it was an oversight by the creator of the tournament.
It's a known fact non-paying members are only allowed to play in one tournament. I was unfortunate enough (several months ago) to join the one that will obviously never end (round 2 was completed several weeks ago), it will just hang there forever between round 2 and 3, so I am leaving this sucky site. Congrats Tragedy on your win!
Cheers,
NoMeansNo
P.s. The tourney in question: "Join mine I joined yours" or something like that, abandoned for good,

OK, anyone entering is expected to enter all 3 tournaments, this is to find a good allrounder of Checkers, 5 in line, and Reversi 6x6. We will do this by adding up each players 3 S-B scores, and hopefully get one player on top . Knights would need 15 game slots available. To keep number of games down, it is only 1 game per pair. Have fun, Steve R KM :o)
My problem was viewing tournament games in progress. I've used other websites, and developed certain habits. It's kind of like learning a new game. All I wanted to do is play chess. I don't mind getting familiar with a new style of site, but when people assume that I must know something because announcements are viewable only when you click on certain buttons, there ought to be a way for newcomers to get up to speed, especially when they are complete idiots like me! You wanna play chess with a complete idiot? You're on!
The "Threaded Discussion Boards" is on Fencer's list, along with many other things :-)
First he is going to finish, test, and release BK 2.0, and then work on such other things. However, he views this as a game site, with discussion boards as an added feature (which it is) so i wouldn't count on discussion boards being high up on his list ;-)
What was your problem with the tournaments? Finding a link to the tournament page of a particular tournament?
Thanks. I'm starting to get into some games now. Like ughaibu says, a list of game types would help. It could only be one link on the Main page, like "Click to browse tournaments in progress by game type" or whatever.
Another thing I find difficult on BrainKing is when I'm reading a reply to a particular message, it's hard to find the message to which it was replying, especially when several conversations are going on at that board. I'm used to having a thread feature, where the computer finds the previous msg in the thread, which could be several days previous. Some people do not check their messages every day. Even if I want to, I might not get the chance to access and internet computer each day.
Click on my link below, then you will see the tourny tables, then click in the position of a game you want to look at(shows as a dash for running games or a 1 or 0 for finished games.)
This can be done on any tourny as far as I know :o)
Every time I log on to view tournaments in progress, I cannot find any to watch. I see messages on this board and on others that seem to indicate that people can view tourneys in progress, but I do not see any instructions anywhere on BrainKing describing how one can look at boards in progress. Is there some big secret here, or is it just me?
When you click the link with in the message that tells you all sections are completed, see if there is a second round to start. there will be a button to click if there is.. if there isnt then the tourney is over. Depends on how many entered the tourney,,, Want me to take a look at it for you to verify?
Only 6 players signed up in 4 days :o(
Stevies Gothic Checkers Come on, Join in and have fun, and even have a go at beating our site owner Fencer ;o)
Steve
I set this up for over 1500, but just realised there are not many of them so all are welcome, and lets get some more players rated :o)
Stevies Gothic Checkers Join in and have fun,
Steve
#1) For my "Fast Start Chess Tournaments", since I have found that people are creating multiply accounts, I have removed the option of letting unrated players play in the Chess tournament.
#2) I'm looking for 1-2 more players for the Fast Start Parachute Checkers #1 Tournament. Actually it will probable be the only once since it did not get very many sign ups, but would be nice to start at least this one if I can get at least 1 or 2 more players to join!
You will have to wait till the whole tourny is over. OR once your games are finished and you definately cant go through, message Fencer and he can remove you from the tourny without affecting your bkr etc. Then you will be able to enter another :o)
I am playing in a tourney (Satan's Hellish pente #2) right now and I am a pawn. I have two games left and they are almost complete. I will not win my section in round 1 because I already have two losses and another player has none with only one unfinished game. Will I have to wait for my section to be completed or the whole first round or the whole tournament to be completed before I can enter another tourney?
(hide) If you click on a person's name and then click Finished games you will have a list of games that have been completed, then click on the name of the game to get a summary of all of these games, then click on the name of the game again and you will have a game to view and analyze.
