Subject: Winner of the top 10% July 2006 (Nackgammon): Hannelore, Anencephal, jopie2002
Hannelore, Anencephal and jopie2002 are together the Number "1", between 4 good players of the tournament 'Top 10% Faster Backgammoners for 2006-07 (Nackgammon)'
Top 10% Faster Backgammoners for 2006-07
Congratulations Hannelore, Anencephal and jopie2002!
Thanks to all other players, and hope to see in other tournaments!
Don't forget pawns need 5 free slots, otherwise the tourney won't start and is deleted with such players removed (would be better if they were removed and the start only shifted forward). Here is one eliminator, where one slot might be enough I believe:
CRY ME A RIVER: Now that was a surprise. Such unexpected attack... The things are clear, the tourney didn't start because 2 pawns were removed who had not enough slots, blame the system, not me, please... Now you think I am some hacker or something and you attack me on public board, hmmm...
Edit: Now I understand that press monitoring lead. But I had no real conflict with you (THE HIT MAN?) You only put me twice to ignore list without reason. Personal should be removed from public boards.
I don't understand why I was kicked out of a tournament for "not enough slots available". I know for an absolute fact that I had at least six slots open when it started, and it was only going to be a four person tournament anyway. Can someone please explain this further?
If it is a single game tournament, you need 5 free game slots (NO MATTER if you start only 4 games, or up to 7 games - the system only looks for 5 free game slots)
for the 2 games per each player, you need 10 free game slots (NO MATTER if you start only 8 games, or 14 games - the system only looks for 10 free game slots)
Harassed: Um...... good question. I have no idea if Elimination tournament require just 1 free slot or not. (I would guess just 1, but that is just a guess - will have to find out the answer to that with Fencer)
BIG BAD WOLF: Really? That's a bizarre way to do things, but I guess it shouldn't surprise me.
This really needs to be stated clearly somewhere in BrainKing's woefully inadequate documentation. Pawns often need to plan their tournament choices carefully, and how are they to do that if they're not even told the requirements for entry?
I need three more players to join Aventura - II Do you want to increase your action points and your tournament wins? Would you like to try games you never played? Do you want to have 85 more games to play? Don't you mind to receive 85 invitations in your message box?... If so let me know you want to join it:)
KotDB: I don't think it's bizarre - it makes it even easier for pawns to plan their tournaments, because they know how many free slots you need BEFORE they know how many people are going to participate in the tournament.
And it IS stated somewhere: at the page of every tournament. It clearly says that you have to have "5" free slots, not "3-7, depending on the number of players signed".
Why do some players take on too many games? I have a player who is on line at the same time as me but never makes a move in our games. When I asked why they did not make any moves I was told this very sad story. They also told me they have 500 games on the go. No wonder they are not making any moves in some games. I think tournament games should be restricted to people like that as they hold up the tournament. I see another player is also not making any moves in my games(vacation time) but are making moves in other games. This is the same tournament game. Is this bad sportsmanship on their part? Since I was doing well in the tournament I can only conclude it is bad sportsmanship.
crosseyed: How is it bad sportsmanship? Calm down, people! You have unlimited game slots! Why do you care about two(!) players moving "too" slow? Just start a few games against faster players ;) Players can move as slow as the time limit rules for the specific game allow them. DEAL WITH IT! If you can't, don't join the tournaments with slow time limits. Or simply create your own faster tournaments...

Mr. Shumway: I certainly will not be joining anymore slow, long and drawn out tournament games. I still think it is dumb to take on tournament games when they already have far too many games on the go and cannot keep up with making moves in games. I am entitled to my opinion(s) and much as you are entitled to yours. I am also allowed to air my opinions too. I understand your reaction now, I see you have 460 games started. I guess you must be one of those people that I am complaining about.
crosseyed: It's not about opinions, it's about rules. You agree to the rules of a tournament (and the time limit is one of these rules) at the moment you sign up. Because of that it's not ok to complain about the rules later.
Anyway, you'll win the tournament some months later.. I recently won a tournament which was actually over in February. That's no problem to me.

Retep: When I signed up I guess I did not take much notice of the rules. I still think people take on far too many games. Since I do not take on too many games I like to at least play the existing games in present time and complete them.
crosseyed: My personal view is that Pawns are the only people who should moan about 'Slow players', they do not have the option to just start another game like Members do (and yes, i know they could become Members if they wished). I know of a tourny running for a year now that only has 12 players in 3 sections. One game is still holding one section up, then the next round will start lol (at least its a Fellowship one, and not for Pawns). If players only want games over quick, surely the answer is simple, look at the time limit before playing the game or Tournament
crosseyed: Try Fischer Clock timed games with a bonus of 1 to 2 days. I've found these limits move along and yet also give you time off when needed. Fast players move fast and it doesn't matter. Slower players will still need to make 8 moves in 10 days with these limits over the course of the game and will also be able to miss a few days.
Someting like this: 3 to 5 day start, 7 to 15 day maximum, and bonus of 1 day 6 hours.

Yes, I know that now but I am fairly new to Tournament games. I still think it is stupid for someone to take on 500 games and not be able to makes moves.
Walter Montego: I did play some games with the Fischer Clock and through no fault of my own got timed out on several games. There are times when I am unable to get access to this site. Last night was an example when I could not access this site.

MadMonkey: I quoted your statement since I did not respond to all your message. And I still think it is bad sportsmanship to deliberately hold games up.
crosseyed: I agree that people should not hold up Tournaments, the point is are they doing it on purpose or maybe just dont have the time to make all there moves, whether they have 10, 100 or 500 games.
The problem is that if a player has his game listed in Time left order, if he moves in a 1 day game, and the opponent is online and moves, that will go back to near the top of his next game to play. Therefore all other games will just carry on waiting.
