ClayNashvilleTn: Second? I have you projected to finish sixth with Purple World the winner because of our "win at all costs", "take no prisoners" attitude. JK!!! We go with what we have and consider the feelings of our players paramount.
furbster & Rose I thought at 62 years of age I was pretty wise. "NOT" I have learned sooooo much being a member of BK in dealing with people when you have multiple goals.
Treating people as you would want to be treated is something I have had pounded into me since I was a teenager.hmmmmmmmmmm It still holds water and I am sticking with it, even if we only finish second in this tourney.
I think it's important to decide fast, for the other players know where they are and are able to find another team, what is unlikely if these are last-minute changes.
ClayNashvilleTn: What I have done is ask all players in the team either in a message or in the FS who really wants to play and are there some who dont mind stepping down to higher rated players. It is only fair to ask them all. Most folks want to play for the fun of it not the high ratings and they should be allowed to stay in if they want to be in it. I have had my feelings hurt by being 'dumped' off a tourney for a higher rated player only because no one approached me about it first. If someone has said hey do you mind stepping aside to let so an so who is 400 pts higher than you then I would have gladly said sure if it gives the team a better chance.
Some felowships sign their best player, an example is Bry's backgammon fellowship as they then have a strong team, whereas others such as the gammon cube, for example, ask for the first 8 to ask to be in the team. I think both of these options are plausable!
Andersp: I asked so that I would and could understand the rules.
I will admit that when several others with higher BKR's joined the team later after the first 8 did it made me wonder and think.
I suspect I am not the first person to have those thoughts. If I am I am surprised.
I suspect it has even been done before. I would hope not. I will not either. I have never had a tournament team before and have now learned to be patient and wait until everyone that wants to join, joins.
I made the mistake of running too fast out of excitement but have learned that if you wait, then you watch AD sweat when he as team captain has to decide which 8 plays and who doesn't.
Would you think it would be best in a F/S to just state the first 8 or is it not fair to say, sign up and then we will pick the best 8? Which do you guys do?
You can, i removed someone from a team earlier and replaced them with another, you just unsign the team first! (onyl because that player had'nt been online since march though)
Just want to thxs grillyx for the nice prize.
After reading the rules for "Send the winner a prize backgammon". I thought the winner of each table is sent a gift by the others in that round. Even thou I was not on your table, to make up for the other people at where will send you something after September 1st. And again thxs for the very nice book.
ArtfulDodger: That is correct. But a different 8 player can play in the next backgammon team tournament if you want.
And once a team tournament starts, a player can leave the team and go join a different team for the next team tournament - even if the last one for the other team is still going on.
ArtfulDodger: Well I bought some lottery tickets today when I got gas - if I win tonight, I'll make each of those a prize tournament! (don't hold your breath.) :-)
Well it is the date that BrainKing was born! (well close enough for the sake of this post)
September 26th, 2002 - 20:50:55 Czech Local Server Time - User #1 (Fencer) and user #2 (Liquid) first signed on to this game site. Well the 3rd birthday of this event is almost here, so a special 3rd BrainKing Birthday Tournament has been created
(Of course Bry's Backgammon fellowship will be higher once they enter - he picks the top 8 players in his fellowship, so all those players will be over 2200, with an avg of over 2300 I would guess.)
BIG BAD WOLF:You guys just may live to regret all this HELP you are giving because we have one more power house team and we are hungry for our first win.
Dang AD I did that an hour ago! Get out of that GO-Rilla suit and play ball, errrrr I meant BackGammon!
(hide) If you want to play a game with an opponent of a similar level, you can define a required BKR range for a new game invitation. Then nobody with a BKR outside this range will be able to see/accept it. (Katechka) (show all tips)
