This tournament Winner takes all.

Now you're just making stuff up! lol

First you have to flimate the character, which has something to do with altering the font size. After that you can deflimate it. Hence deflimation.

Universal Eyes: When a question mark (?) appears at the end of a sentence it is commonly known as a question. That means that you can answer yes or no. You appeared to be saying he wouldn't let you give away a membership.

Judging from your response you don't know the meaning of slander (or hearsay for that matter).

Universal Eyes: That makes no sense. If you buy the membership you can give it to whoever you want, including someone who wins your pond.

400 moves is only 0.5 moves/game/day for BBW.

if i play 120 moves, it's 4 moves/game/day which is more reasonable, since i usually have about 30 games going.

i'd like to see that stat on everyones profile. That would mean we could choose players to challenge that move as quickly as ourselves.

Universal Eyes: I didn't successfully parse your sentences, but it seems like you are complaining that more people will sign up for a tournament if it has a prize? Maybe I just need more punctuation, but that sounds naive.

that's the bit i don't understand. I guess less granularity would mean more likelyhood of tied bets.

what's the difference between 20000 and 1000 starting number in poinds? There is no strategic difference, just fewer numbers to choose from. The 500 bonus i guess would be more important?

if there was no auto-vac then he would time out.

Here is how it should work in my opinion: If you play a move that day then auto-vac does not kick in. Only if you play no moves at all. How can you be on vacation for some games and not others?

And further, some of us only want to play 20-30 games at a time. That way we actully remember what the hell we were doing last time we moved. I don't think joining more tournaments is the answer.

18. December 2004, 23:10:52
grenv
Arpa, can you at least answer why you joined a tournament then chose not to play? I think the question is not one of rules but courtesy. After all if you're playing 700 games, why play more when you clearly don't have time to play them? Sounds like an addiction to me.

<soapbox>the best question was: why enter if you're not going to play? Wait until you do want to play and then enter, there are plenty of tournaments.</soapbox>

I actually didn't want to play in such a large tournament because i fear i will die of old age before it finishes, that's all.

Actually that's been a problem with all the team tournaments, one slow player means the sections don't finish.

It would be better if at least a match could be decided by winning more than half the games instead of waiting for everything to finish. Until then I will probably not play them.

16. November 2004, 18:45:28
grenv
I think you need to delete the game, not resign.

Problem is Klokan is not suffering from an emergency, he is playing 650 games and doesn't have time to play them. Timing out would be the sensible solution to this situation. And in future don't play so many games.

In fact emergencies won't happen very often and most of the time this will be used to extend the number of games you can play without timing out.

6. November 2004, 16:45:07
grenv
how about one day? That should solve for what it was intended to solve, namely some emergency.

I have no idea how much a pack of cigarettes costs. How about expressing it in terms of pints of beer or grams of pot instead.

3. November 2004, 19:13:26

No, I said 1/10th of a cent.

That would be 5c, or $18 per year.

:)

2. November 2004, 16:57:39

How about charging per move. I suggest about .10c per move.

(That's 1/10th of a cent)

:)

how about if the memebership was the price that a knight is now, but with rook priveleges? Maybe then a lot of pawns would join?

31. October 2004, 19:14:05
grenv
my proposition was to not give the choice, just get rid of the knigh memebership. Who cares how many features you use? The main thing you pay for is to play the games whenever you want.

31. October 2004, 19:08:20
grenv
really? People would choose not to join because of paying 83c a month extra?

How about a poll to test that theory. Personally I think the rook membership is extremely cheap as it is.

31. October 2004, 18:23:51
grenv
i know, i was just being all inclusive in the description. Just one level of membership (equal to rooks) is really needed, and lift all the restrictions. In fact I can't really understand why people choose knights when they can be rooks for an additional 83c per month.

31. October 2004, 16:05:13
grenv
Personally I think there should be memebers and non-members, along with an option to donate more for those that wish to. I'm not sure why we need all these levels of membership.

29. October 2004, 23:44:28
grenv
i think fewer people are entering because the team tournaments are taking too long. Especially since Knights can't enter 2.

This seems stupid because at the rate some of them are going you could be stuck in a tournamnent for years.

Subject: Re: ABOUT klokan
I don't think you'll see any activity for a while. The problem is that he is rarely playing, yet has 666 unfinished games. To me this is a mind blowing number for someone with a full time job. :)

hear hear. Finishing the tournament is the fun part. If you time out for whatever reason then enter the next one. It's not the end of the world.

indeed i am (in quick players club).

I am not losing sleep over it, just bringing up the point that these rules can easily be abused.

22. October 2004, 20:01:57
grenv
I only like to play a few games at a time, I'm not smart enought to play 123527 games at once, so I do notice.

22. October 2004, 19:47:55
grenv
I am playing one person who stopped moving in games he is losing. He admitted later that he is trying to move his rating up as high as possible.

This is an example of how these vacations can be abused. In my opinion there are too many as it is.

22. October 2004, 17:34:28
grenv
This auto vacation is a little silly. What are we protecting people from? This is a game site not internet banking. I think it's more important that games be completed than people are saved from timing out. If you can't keep up play fewer games or set up a deliverate vacation.

just my 2c

18. October 2004, 23:25:06
grenv
i have to say some of these team tournaments are taking a sight too long. Any chance we can have the results calculated earlier (e.g 5-0 from 8 games is a win). That way we might finish before 2010.

16. October 2004, 17:27:21
grenv
my games did that as well.

I assume that the times are correct now and yesterday there was some problems that are corrected.

I realize that is how it works now, I am suggesting we change it so as not to hold up the tournaments unnecessarily.

Subject: Re:
Correct, 5 teams go through. Just waiting on one game. That game in theory could last another 8 turns each. Since it's a 3 day tournament that could be 48 days. Of course a nice long vacation could lengthen that.

How about just starting round 2 before the game finishes?

Subject: Re: Dark battleboats team tourny
Same goes for the backgammon tournament. We already know the teams that have won, let's go on to the next round, since the remaining matches have no bearing on the result.

1. September 2004, 21:08:14
grenv
I think the point was that even after the check the maximum spaces needed would be 8, since the maximum group size is 5.

In this case check for 8 spaces ahead of time, even though it's possible for the group to be smaller.

Since it is impossible that 10 spaces are required why check for them?

I understood. Don't reuse patterns. I still don't think it's cheating to look at an opponents past games and see if they are using a pattern. Come ot think of it this might be the best opportunity to use skill in the game :) Just throwing that out to see if there are any bites.

25. August 2004, 03:26:53
grenv
I'll concede the multiple accounts, though that applies to all games.

25. August 2004, 03:25:57
grenv
change the positions. Why use the same pattern? I see that as advanced tactics, not cheating.
