i sometimes think they are changing before my eyes on here as well ... but i never found proof of it .. i still think it was my eyes playing tricks on me .. or me focussing on the opponents dice of his last move at first ... i will find proof!!! its a conspiracy! ;)

Oh, I thought the "other site" was a different site. I've never heard of dice problems at IYT.. I know at Goldtoken they seem to change before your eyes.. I assumed that was the "other site" everyone was talking about..

Backgammonfan28: That site has problems with its random generator - but it doesn't show in die rolls. It pregenerates the die rolls for an entire day - a roll for every millisecond. And it's the millisecond in which your HTTP request arrives that determines your roll. Not a problem for backgammon like games - but it's a serious problem for Jamble tournaments. Which they still haven't fixed, and is one of the reasons I let my membership there expire, and got a membership here.

I don't know what other site you're talking about but maybe i's the same psicological effect. One allways seems to remember those worst cases that happen to us... even if statisticaly they're the least significant

Anyway whatever the site si I agree on one thing: BK is definitelly better ;)

Have you ever noticed it seems on the other site that when you or your opponent has 4 checkers to clear off their dice almost always seems to show doubles then? Seems strange to me how often that happens to me.

Yes , I think they are better on this site because you don`t get ( at least not me )so many doubles , and that`s good because it ruins the whole game!!

Are the dice rolls determined by a random number generator or something here? They seem to act much more different here than on another turn based game site which I will leave the name out of this post but I am sure many of you who read this will know who I mean. That other site the dice act strange to me.

triple 6 gives penalty - hey! thats unfair! never played that

bonus for moving into home - new to me

missing your home - impossible how we played it

bonus when you capture another player - uh oh .. double nasty .. new to me

doubles ??? cool!

--- ok remove these rules and you will have 'mens erger je niet' the way i played it as a kid .. i think ;)

AbigailII: oops ... i didnt read through the complete rules .. just watched the board setup, and noticed you started with 4 pieces in your nest and could enter the path when you throw a 6 ... thats when i stopped reading ;)

i am back to studying i guess ;)

(it seems today is not a good game for me to play games which i have to study ;))

Hrqls: Strange. The rules of Ludo as described are quite different from "Mens erger je niet", as I have played on both side of the Atlantic. (Doubles? Penalty on three 6's? Another throw when taking an opponents pawn? Play dice in the order you want? None of this is in the rules of "Mens erger je niet")

lol the same for me .. so i could be a bit wrong on the rules ...

but lets instead try to create a nice 4 player backgammon .. it could be something like that .. and would be a nice first variant to allow with multiple players i think ?

(hmm maybe fencer wants to add new games for multiplayer instead of variants .. not sure .. ;))

The geometry is a bit different, and it's "Pop'o'Matic", but it's the same basic Parchisi varient.

Rex Nihilo: could be .. i dont know 'trouble' :)

'mens erger je niet' is translated into english as 'hey dont stress' .. or something like that :)

its a game children play a lot, and which is cheated a lot in when grown ups play it together ;)

its mainly backgammon for 4 players (6 can be done as well on a variant), all 4 players moves in the same direction (clockwise i think), they all have 4 pieces which start on their bar, and have to make it to the end (their home). they can only move from their bar when they throw a 6
in 'mens erger je niet' only 1 die is used, and it isnt allowed to have more than 1 piece on a space (so no way to defend yourself other than to make it home as soon as possible, and to stay out of reach ;))

but this could be changed to create some sort of multi player backgammon :)

Lots of skill in getting double sixes when it's the only point open and you have two blots drinking at the bar and hitting one of mine one the way out.
Congratulations on your tournament win. You pulled a rabbit out of your hat with this one. I had you pegged for third place at one time during it.

Surely the "spirit" of the game is trying to get your pieces off first! Fortunately the rules are such that the strategy and tactics used are not always obvious.

Regular Backgammon 19 moves no resignation all blots off, I lost the game:

Hyper Backgammon after 21 moves, looks like I'm losing it on the next turn as I didn't roll what I needed:
http://brainking.com/game/ShowGame?g=600158

I'm not sure what you mean by the spirit of the game. Some games there's lots of drinking and partying at the bar, other games we just go on our merry way and pass each on the street. That's just how Backgamon goes.

Just running along is somehow missing the spirit of the game,,,,

Is it possible to win in three or four turns with the right rolls of the dice? I have a game going with pgt that's already made it to move 20! Longer than some regular games of Backgammon.
