Subject: Re: Change the Pond game Rules ?
Bluefin: That would take out some of the fun if you take away the person who bid 0 and the next lowest.

Take for example, 3 players left - 1 player with 0, 1 player with 1,000, and the last player with 1,200.

How it is now, the players with 1,000 can either bid low to keep a lot of points, or bid high and try to get the 500 point bonus - and depending on what the person with 1,100 points does - it will be a good game for these 2 players. With your rules, the game would be over - player with 1,100 just has to bid 1,001 and win the game.

And idea if say more then 30 players are left, take out 2 lowest. 50 players, take out 3 lowest, etc... is an interesting idea - but most of the ponds now have around 20-30 players total, so probable not worth adding a rule like that for the few games which are going to have that many players.

Points to Pond Discussion board to talk about the ideas more if you want!

Modified by Bluefin (15. February 2005, 16:45:06)
When someone bets 0, that person + the next lowest bidder is in the pond. After so many rounds, it becomes the 2 lowest bidders, then 3, then maybe 4, depending on the number of players. That would speed things up, and put a little excitement into the game.

if someon is on your friends list...then you place them on enemies...they remain on your friens list till you remove them.you will notice an option to do just that on the persons profile.Which I believe is what Bry said.

Bry: Not entirely true. If you put so and so on your enemies they cant see your actions UNTIL They place you on their enemy list. Then they can go to their enemy list and still see what you are doing.

Partiqa: As far as I know, if you have someone on your enemy list, they cannot track you, send you a PM or join any games you have. Other than PB's, they cant contact you.

With Friends, the only real differemce to a non friend is that you can see them "on-line" on the right. I have just made someone who was on my friends list, and selected to put them on enemy's list. They still show up in the "friends Online" - probably because they were on friends before enemies. I know I am on their enemy list and dont see any info re where they are or have the ability to send a message.

Partiqa :) I have a friend....actually there are 4 of them...hehehehe they are on my friends list because of the harrasment and hassles i have gotten from them over the past 12 months...they were/are on my friends list so i can track them...the ability (sp) of them on my friends lists enabled them to PM me:)...some of which caused the banning of such said persons :)

I guess "friends"..."enemies" work the same way...at the moment i have NO ONE on my enemies list :0)

does adding someone to your enemies remove you from their friends list? Not just make you invisible to them, but remove you from their friends list.

If not I think that it should. I see no reason for people on my enemies list to be able to track me on the site.

Also, when people add you to their friends list, is it possible to be prompted for your permission? Or maybe you could have a list of people that have added you as a friend and a way to remove yourself from their list, or something to that effect.

I had a player accept four of my games from the waiting room. In one he made a mistake on the second move, he resigned that game and deleted the other three. There was no question of the games being accepted by a mistake of any kind. This is quite annoying, so much so that I thought of putting him on enemies. There are at least two games that I regularly play which can be decided very early, if delete is going to exist for paying members (I dont see why it should) there is no reason why the option should be available on the second move. It's the responsibility of the person accepting the game to check that the conditions suit them.

No Purple.. the only thing on the game page that means play later, is "Play Later".
The only place that mentions "default" is as Bwildman described. It is where you can choose something different than "go to main page" as the destination after submitting your move. (You can make the "default" go to next game with online player, everytime you submit, without changing it from go to main page each time..

Definition of default relevent to this:
"Computer Science. A particular setting or value for a variable that is assigned automatically by an operating system and remains in effect unless canceled or overridden by the operator: changed the default for the font in the word processing program.
A situation or condition that obtains in the absence of active intervention.

ughaibu: Nice idea about replacement games in the waiting room.

Subject: Re:
Purple: I think when you typed "default" you meant "delete"?
Deleting isn't for delaying a move. It gets rid of the game completely. (I guess it's a pretty effective way to delay, LOL) I believe that the delete option is only there for the first 2 moves. It is ideally for getting rid of a game that you got into by mistake. (There are a few examples mentioned lower down..)
This option also doesn't affect your BKR in any way.
