I don't understand default. I have never used it because I thought it resigned the game. If you are just delaying the move why not hit Play Later? What is it for?

That reminds me of something else I'd really like to see as a feature. When I complete a game and start a new one from the button in the message, it would be great if the settings of the old one were already set up for the next one. In addition, I would really, really like to be able to change the default settings for an invite. I like to play 4 day games, but the default is seven. I send out invites for Pente mostly, but the default is chess, etc.

Another possibility would be for a replacement game to be automatically posted in the waiting room to save the victim of deletion from the need to do so themself.

The delete function will be available for paying members only.

I have used the delete button to end some Espionage games. I prefer to play Fast Espionage, but sometimes I don't catch the difference right away. Delete is good for situations like that. Or if you notice that a game you've accepted is rated and you wanted it unrated, etc. Also, I've used it on a rematch against someone when I failed to set un the rematch with the right colors.

ughaibu: lately i am declining some invitations as i am trying to clean up my number of games before i go on a holiday

but since i am so used to accept invitations i automagically click on 'accept' (while i post a message telling the invitor why i will decline)

i am then very glad that i can still delete the game which i just accepted :)

ughaibu: Deleting a game is seldom needed. However, didn't it ever happen to you to accept an invitation only to find out later it was a 30-day move game? And the opponent never comes back to play? And on top of everything he's a rook and still has 30 autovacation days left?
So you're stuck with a game (or maybe you accepted two or three of the same guy) and you're a pawn and it means that you now get a slot stuck for a 2 or 3 months without being able to use it - resigning is not an option since it affects your BKR.

I'm exagerating a bit, of course, and it never happened to me (except for the autovacation part which I find a bit annoying... luckyly the 30 days should be over sometime by the end of this month) but it's the only justification I see for deletion

On the other end, there is a game on this site that can be finished in 3 moves... If I'm playing black and on the second move I see things are going bad for me I could delete it as things are now... And I think that's unfair too...

Oh what the heck, away with it...

Doesn't make sense why the person took the games then deleted them all does it?

I agree. I'll consider to remove it soon.

Deletion of even one game is nonsense and I dont see why it's allowed.

How about setting a limit for how many games we can delete a day, or something like that. Just got 80 messages saying leonr (http://brainking.com/game/Profile?u=9394 ) had deleted my games which he had joined.

Are there plans to finish the sabotage games? ANY type of captured pieces list will work. True, there are different ways to see it. For example, do you show the rank of unknown pieces when captured. But, I think most people will be happy with ANY type of list.

Is an 'anti' version of hyper backgammon feasible as a game?

rod03801: it's something I asked for a few months ago - "move and go to next game in 'this' tournament". When I play in Team Tourney's, I like to play all moves in that tournament at the same time. Fencer said it can be done and he will look at it, I assume he has not had time yet or that it is least priority... but I'm sure it will be done eventually.

It's not something, I'm desperate to have.. :-) I just think it would be a nice addition. And probably would be more frequently used than Move and go to discussion.

When I remove someone from a game or I invite them to my fellowship, it would be great to be a able to communicate with them in regards to these actions.

I would like to see "Move and Go to next game in this tournament" added to the drop down menu.. (If it is getting too large, couldn't the "Move and go to discussion" disappear? I can't imagine that is used very much..)
Currently, when I want to play all games in one tournament, I use Move and go to tournament, and then have to click on each "dash", and many times it isn't my turn anyways.. Just would make things a little easier, when playing that way..

Can we have a box to write game notes to ourselves in the pond game? Also it would be nice to have the final points that were left by the names of players that have fallen in.

farmer sam: This could even be an option in the user profile (set by default) instead of an option on that combobox where I think almost nobody would use it...
And it's probably not so hard to implement either: at the end of the move check if the next player has any moves available. If so then set a flag for the game. Then, when that user triggers the "find next game" algorithm this would first check for any games with this flag set (as long as the option was activated of course)
Is this feasible?

(Good idea sam)

2. February 2005, 14:27:29

Would it be possible to have another option in the drop-down box: 'Go to next game in which no move is available to you'? (Ok, not that long!)
I think this would keep these games ticking over more quickly (especially when stuck on the bar in backgammon etc)
