Subject: Re: Loop Battleboats Plus
It would end, it would just awhile.

For example, lets say I quickly find a sink one of your ships - I will still have 5 shots, you only 4. I can then decided to keep shooting with my 5 shots, or place the captured boat which will then give me 6 shots, and you still 4 (that is if you sunk none of my ships)

Then again, I may not place the captured ship right away to keep shooting. But also, when I replace the captured ship, it could be placed where you have already shot - so it would make it even harder to find.

Subject: Re: Loop Battleboats Plus
The game would literally never end? It takes one move to put the ship back on the board and AT LEAST two shots to sink it...any ship would never stay off the board for more than a few moves unless your opponent could constantly guess exactly where your ships are...

Ok, I've done a quick bit of research and I'm guessing that this<A/> is the game you're refering to?

It's in one of his books, (I dont think he invented it), entitled Mathematical Puzzles and Diversions, or something like that. It's an added dimension of potential cubes.

How about Martin Gardener's 4x4x4x4 four in line?

On a more serious note, how about adding line4 on different board sizes? Afterall, reversi already has three sizes. :)

Dark 5-in-line? Since there is no movement of pieces, how much of the board would you see?

Cylinder backgammon?

i think Dark 5-in-line would be interesting! :)

There are some fun ideas, for example dark three checks extinction chess. The number of pieces that would qualify as a checkable would increase with captures, would the balance of checks be cancelled after a capture, plenty of things to work with in mixed variants.

There must be a way to make Maharajah fun? Maybe dark three checks Maharajah would do the trick??

Loop Battleboats Plus - now that would be interesting (and a longer game)

After you sink your oppenets ship, you can then instead of taking your turn to shot, place the boat you just captured back in play. AND what is cool is that it can be placed in a spot where your oppenet already shot - so a player would also need the ability to shot at the same square multiply times during a game.

Then since it is Plus, you could possible have 9 boats with 9 shots per turn.

How about dark and loop tabluts? I've no idea how viable they'd be but if it's easy to do, they'd be fun to try a few times. (And so far there are no tablut variants.)

It was discussed a while ago regarding combining chess variants. Fencer said it would be extrememly simple to add combination variants with the way the system is currently set up. However, where does it stop?
Dark Gothic, Loop Gothic, Extinction Gothic, 3-checks Gothic, Dark Janus, Loop Janus, Extinction Janus, 3-checks Janus, Dark Loop Gothic, Dark Loop Janus, Dark loop, Dark 3-checks Gothic, Dark 3-checks Janus, Dark 3-checks, Dark Extinction, Dark Extinction Gothic, Dark Extinction Janus, and on, and on, and on...Not only would it be very difficult to distinguish these games (aside from the name at the top - not a big problem), but it would simply be WAY too many games and would be almost identical.

Summertop, you can save or clear it, or you can just remove one piece (or two, etc) if you're unhappy with their position.

Subject: battleboats
on battleboats, there is an option for "Random placement of remaining pieces".

When you choose this, there is an option to either save or clear the random placement. Sometimes, I don't like the placement. It would be nice to have another option to regenerate random positions.

Subject: for Fencer, reposted from the Gothic Board
I like experimenting with new variants of just about everything. I know there are plenty of feature requests to Fencer for new games, but he is only one person and can only program so fast. However, the goth board and other chess variants are already programmed on BK, so it wouldn't take too much more time to combine the two. I believe Goth would combine very well with other variants, especially extinction, loop, dark (!!), 3 checks, anti and maaaybe atomic (we'd have to see if white has too great of an advantage). I would love to see those combined variants.

The bug tracker is a great idea. Since, at times, there are messages back and forth about the bug there, it would be nice if there was a red number indicating new messages in the bug tracker in that specific "bug"(Like with discussion boards).
(For times when the person reporting the bug updates, or you respond about it, or someone else comments on the bug)

Subject: removal of tourney players
I personally have never asked for removal of a player from a tournament, but have told the organiser that if he/she played i would not... to be told that the possibility of me coming up against the player in question was very remote. My answer to that was, well I would NEVER play him/her I would rather resign against him/her.

Now I do not know if the person concerned removed him/herself or was removed by the tourney organiser...and personally "I couldn't give a damn"

Link to My rating chart on LittleGolem.net

The above is one of the cool things about LittleGolem, you can look at charts of your ratings and how they have changed. If you look at the above chart (for Golem Word Game), it shows that I started around 1500 in 2002, went up - and notice I did not play for about a year or so, and recently just played a few games which has changed my rating a little.
