Subject: Fellowship's Discussion boards...Posting rights
In the fellowship's discussion boards, there is now the ability to require approval of all posts. Very nice, Fencer. However, it would be nice to be able to have that option be specific to the member. Mybe even add a new rank for this (Member, Trusted, Manager, Big Boss).

I'm just curious why you would keep someone in your fellowship, if you dont "trust" them.

edit: (I am NOT saying this isn't a good suggestion... just wondering..)

i'm not sure but I don't thnk you could kick someone out unless they do something to justify it.

You can kick someone out whenever you want, its your fellowship, so its your right and dont have to justify yourself :o)

so then you can be a power hungry lunatic? I sertainl wouldn't like to get kicked out of a fellowship for no reason at all and I definately wouldn't do that to someone else if I had one. that rule isn't up to me so i wont worry about it.

I agree with you and did not mean to start anything. I just wanted everyone to know how I felt about the situation on some of them. Most of the discussion boards have nice people and no abuse there. I did not mean to start anything. I hope everyone will forgive me. I should have kept my mouth shut.

It does happen, believe me, I know LOL

But it is not a bad thing....if you are not wanted, for whatever reason, why would you want to be there anyway? It is somewhat irritating to be given a lame, unfounded excuse for being kicked out, when like Stevie said, there is no need to justify it anyway. IMO, it would be more reasonable to simply say "I dont want you here anymore" than to make up some lame, unfounded reason, or excuse.... like " I have no choice, I dont really want to do this, but for the overall good, I feel it is my resposibility" what a waste of breath....LOL

Sometimes people are thrown into a tournament with a last minute entry and have games with someone they just don't like. Then the only choice is to resign I think. It has happened to a friend of mine. But for a fellowship it is harder because maybe you have been in there for a long time and then in comes Mr. Toxic and what do you do? Make the Big Boss choose? I don't think that is right either. I would say just go poof.

Can we have a politics board to keep all this stuff that's not of general interest off the general chat board please.

Subject: Loop Chess
I have seen two versions of loop chess. In BK's version when a pawn is promoted (say to a queen) and then captured, the opponent gets a queen. In other versions, the promoted pawn reverts back and the opponent only gets a pawn.

I would like to see an option for both versions.

Eh, I dunno. I like the standard version. Promoted pawns should revert when captured. You know you're probably going to drop 'em next to the back rank and threaten promotion anyhow...

"Standard version"? Who told you that? Tell me "standard version"s of a handfull of BrainKing specific games.

Well, ughaibu, I could have been wrong, but it's the version I've seen at other chess sites like FICS. There, they call it 'crazyhouse' chess.

Or is that a different game altogether? It sure looks like the same game to me...

Fine, but a lot of members want to spout loquacious on so called political issues, my contention is that such matters are not of general interest. I couldn't give an FFF who is PM in the UK or president in the US. Of course it matters to some people but it's not a matter of general concern, mention it once a month is okay but. . . .

...over on the Atomic Chess board, that some of the moves disappear from the game record. If you have a long game, like WhisperzQ's, that you want to review, it isn't possible to look at it from move 1.

I'm guessing that the server automatically purges the database to make room for more games. If we had a "e-mail the move list to me" sort of function, that would make it possible to delete old games from the database entirely, and still have records of our games.

20. August 2004, 08:27:57

Here, on BrainKing, BrainKing implementations are standard versions said Fencer. So is there coming a doubling cube for those of you, and I think there is quite a few, who would like 3 or more games on the trot against one person?

How would it work with a doubling cube? Would the game count as two wins, for example? And 2 (or more) seperate bkr's confugured? etc....

Vikings
Subject: Re: point system and doubling cube
cube would only be used in a 2 or more game match, doubled would be worth 2 games towards match, but the match would count the same as it does now, once

26. August 2004, 02:22:40
grenv
Usually a match is played up to a certain number of points, for instance first to 9 points. Gammon counts 2, backgammon counts 3, doubling cube multiplies the score. So a doubled gammon counts 4 points. Not accepting the double loses, but counts only 1 with the cube where it was before the double.

Clear?

:)

they play single game matches because there is no cube. If there was a doubling cube I would never play single matches again.

Obligatory, but Fencer doesn't like it? That's the sole reason why I am not a paid up member! If that IS the sole reason. As a few say, if there WAS a doubling cube, which there ios in any major tournament, they would never play single matches again.

I never said I don't like it. A doubling cube is in TODO list but there are more important things to do first.

Hi all. I don't know if this has already been suggested as i don't come here often ;O)
At the moment, if i want to try out any stratergies etc, i either play unrated/private games with friends or i use pieces of paper. It would be nice if there was a section where i could play out games by myself and possibly even save them for future reference. As you know i mainly play Spiderline4, but i'm sure this would benefit alot of other games, where people like me who can't keep it all in their heads, would be able to try things out.
