pauloaguia: I basically leave all my teams that I don't want to play teat challenges on.
My problem was when the last site tournaments came along, I wanted to play on those - joined a team, then found I was in some team matches with other fellowships - some with time controls which I don't like (red/green dot games). Kind of in a no-win situation at that time since I did not want to leave - but did leave as soon as the site team tournaments started.
But would agree that it would be nice if there was some sort of "prefrence" you can choose - maybe an over all "Will play / don't want to play", along with a "Will play vacation, fixed weekend, no days off tournaments choices", along with different time choices - like not playing anything with less then 3 days.
In my fellowships, i try to keep track of what players will play and try to not include players who don't want to play certain time limits and such - but it is very hard to keep up to date and I know many fellowship captains just don't want to put that extra time in.
Jason: I think that if you're in a team, you should be ready to play if needed, otherwise you shouldn't be there.
That said, I aggree that it would be nice to have a feature to allow the captains to if any players are not in the mood to play for a while, or because they'll be on vacations, or busy or whatever. That way, they could contact the player and ask him/her if (s)he would aggree to sign in for a match or not. Of course, if the captain still decides to go ahead and enter that player in the tournament, (s)he could have to face the consequences, like the player forfeiting or timing out in all games, or taking forever to move. But that's something to ponder when deciding who will be in the team.
If you don't want to play for a while you have that option - leave the team for a while. (Of course, if there was a place where you could check the teams you want to leave/enter and just submit it once it would be a lot easier to do).
Right now, a fellowship's page is a mess of information. Some fellowships have large introduction texts and you always have to scroll down to see or do whatever you want in that fellowship. If a fellowhip has lots of teams, and you're in a lot of them it also makes it hard to manage that, like has been said in the previous messages.
Here's my ideas:
Divide it into multiple pages, like it is on the Profile page. Namely: "Main Page", "Members", "Teams", "Internal Torunaments"
On the Main page, there would be the description as now, indication of the BigBoss and the list of discussion boards. This list, since it's usually small could be on a box on the top right, like the MostVisited DB's in the DB list page. The Main page would also have the "Leave this Fellowhip" feature, at the bottom, like now.
The Members page would contain a list of all the members. With more available space, this list could contain aditional information like how many internal tournaments (s)he won or how many teams the member is in. Maybe even a link for each member that would allow the BigBoss (or anybody) to see what teams a member is in. (Suppose you want your fellowship to enter all tournaments on a given category and you know you have a great player in your ranks. Would be nice to quickly see what teams (s)he is in from that fellowship and if you need to ask him/her to join any more).
Teams page would display the Teams ranks on the top, the Teams in the middle and the Team Matches results on the bottom. These last two could be filtered by game (as happens now on the teams), but could also display "All game types" and "All teams I'm captain of" (so one could manage all the teams more easilly). When displaying all teams, having check boxes to be able to join or get out of more than one team at a time would be a great adition too.
Internal Tournaments would have Torunaments, Ponds and Stairs from the Fellowship. </ul>
This is just what I've been making up since I had the idea of spliting the fellowship page in several pages a few days ago. Feel free to comment on my ideas and add your own. I'm sure the more people show interest in this, the faster Fencer will implement it
Jason: Its a great idea that was mentioned before. Its a pain keep joining and leaving Teams just to stop games building up. I think people would be more happy to join Teams if its easy to make themselves available or not and certainly help the Captains.
could we have some sort of status where we could make ourselves unavailable for any more team matches (if you dont get to read the fellowship for a few days you can end up with new team matches to play ,which sometimes you dont want) , the only safe thing to do at the moment is to remove yourself from the team , would be nice if we could just tick a box or something to make ourselves unavailable from being picked .
In checkers, if you choose a different set of pieces (checkers instead of pawns - the usual ones for checkers players), the alternative pieces appear in the board, but for the captured pieces the pawns are still used. It would be nice, if the used set of pieces would be the same all over the page. Possibly the same occurs for other game types, too.
Subject: Color distribution on Finished games list
It would be nice if there were two extra columns on the finished games list showing how many rated games the player has played using each color. They could be titled "first color" and "second color", to get around the colors being different for different game types.
I'll also restate my request for a total column showing the total number of rated games played.
tinksbell: Plus the advantage to the link on the profile is that is also includes fellowship tournaments you sign up for - which would not be shown in the normal tournament link.

emmett: Thank you, the only problem with that is I think to go to the tournament page & can't seem to remember to go to my profile, hopefully this time I will.... Thank you.
tinksbell: You have to go to "My profile", then click on "tournaments". If you choose your "open tournaments", you will see the ones you have signed up for but have not started yet.
Mousetrap: Any game that has two passes in a row is a draw I believe. If this is the case, and I haven't missed anything, it could be a good idea for Fencer to program in.
Subject: Re: Request and offer for the 'Tournaments page'
TC: How about:
3 - How about every couple of days i pick, say 5 Tournaments, and post them at the top of the Tournament discussion board ? (unless Fencer can do it automatically lol)
As you know; in the tournaments page, only in the red status capture all first look. At this time, first two pages show only these types. I think some Brainking's members forget to give a chance for other tournaments creators.
My offers are: 1- On the top of first page would be a link for the delayed tournaments (red status), then follows other tournament lines in 'open' status but greater than zero minutes. 2- On the top of pages, at status line, would be two links for open tournaments; like "include 'delayed starts'" and "exclude 'delayed starts'"
Forget that! I posted the request and has soon as I had done so I recieved a message saying the game was drawn by administrator. That Fencher is either psychic or very quick! Thanks very much!
We have passed 38 times in this game. Are we likely to move in it again or is it time to call it a draw? If so is it possible to make this game so that if both players keep passing the game ends?
Subject: One new feature asks for a feature request *1*
Can there be a way to see the BKRs of a fellowship's teams on the fellowship's page? And their ranking (if it's 1st, 2nd, etc). Similar to the list there is in a player's profile.
Also, could the fellowship's main page be splitted into severall partial pages, like we have on our profiles? It's getting to much information in there.
Love this idea... (1. I find I think faster than I click...Many times I go to click on a check box but miss. Poor Aim on my part. But, it would be nice if we could click on the dice itself.)
Why not a variation of dice poker where we get 2 points for winning a box, 1 for a tie. That way, it doesn't matter if you your opponent starts with 5 of a kind, it's worth as much to win that category as winning 1's. Would be judgement to give up boxes and decide where to go for it!
And while we're at it, in a message that a game is over why can't the button that creates a new invitation keep all the settings from the just-completed match?
First: to restate...it would be nice if next to our roll, it said what the piece was. Also, why no castle move?
A new variation of the game...Have the roll be weighted based on what pieces could move. For example, In a Player's very first move he has 10 pieces that could be moved...Eight pawns and 2 knights. Therefore, the very first roll of the game would be an 80% chance to roll a 1 (Pawn) and 20% chance to roll a 2 (Knight). It would still give a "randomness" to the game, but at the same time allow a player to "Play the Odd" on what pieces might be rolled.
Summertop: would i be right in thinking that if you always wanted your score on the left you would only be able to play people who want to have their scores on the right
After playing for a while I have a few suggestions.
1. I find I think faster than I click...Many times I go to click on a check box but miss. Poor Aim on my part. But, it would be nice if we could click on the dice itself.
2. When a dice is flagged to be re-rolled, it would be nice to have the image of the dice change to show that it will be re-rolled.
3. It would be REALLY nice if my scoresheet was ALWAYS on the left side. Right now, the first player is on the left and the second is on the right. Every once in a while, I do my re-rolls to get a specific type of score, only to find I already had it. I was looking at the opponents side.
These are small feature requests (maybe not to develop), but I think they would make the games a lot better.

To the right of the name of the fellowships, under "Games we play", there is a list of all the games that each fellowship plays. Many fellowships list all the games (and they end in "..."). That list takes up a lot of space.
I suggest that we simply have "All Games" as an option for what the fellowships say that they play. It would help condense the fellowship pages, maybe even by over two pages.
Maybe we could have it set up so that each fellowship could have the option of choosing "All games", and then every time a new game is added it automatically becomes one of the fellowship's games played.
i havent been on here much lately but noticed that one of my suggestions has been implemented again - the one about having a move option to go to next game with a friend - do i get a prize for suggesting it lol
(hide) If you want to find an opponent with similar playing skills to your own look in the Ratings page of the type of game you want and find a player with a similar BKR. (pauloaguia) (show all tips)
