For convenience could we find listed on our profiles the names of members who have us designated as enemies or where a member might have us on hide. This doesn't have to be public but would save wasted responses.

I was serious about a rogue's gallery page. BrainKing is a social site and I think it's history is worth recording.

I've been involved in game design and a lot of ideas that sound good dont actually make interesting or even playable games. It's best to play test the ideas and make adjustments as necessary.

Can we get an option to switch colors in reversi, just like the new option in checkers?

Or better yet, make black move first as default like it is supposed to be.

I believe the elephant can take any animal (except the mouse)

It's a new game & may still have bugs, so if you know what game it is - Post the game number & Fencer can take a look to make sure the programming is correct.

Er, define 'take', BBW. I'm trying to shake off a mental image of a mouse lying down, looking up at the elephant and squeaking, 'Take me, take me'.
What time's my next appointment.....?

In the jungle all the animals have a number the big number like stratego win over the small numbers, with an exeption, the rat can capture the elephant but not from water. like the spy in stratego can kill the number 1. only the rat and can kill the elephant and of curse the other elephant who atacks first.
Elephant (8)
lion (7)
Tiger (6)
Panther (5)
Dog (4)
Wolf (3)
Cat (2)
rat (1)

the tiger and the lion can jump over the water

I'm glad to see this varient added. I've like this game for a long time. One suggestion I would reccomend, and is reccomended on the Chess Varient web site, is to shift the pieces 4 files over so that the rooks occupy where the K and Q are.

This does not affect the playability of the game as the board "loops" and is a tremendous visual improvement.

Yes, I have play tested it many times OTB.

Fencer, for Espionage, could you please add a captured pieces window?

2. October 2004, 08:32:56

Redsales : i was talking about it with fencer , and it will be not added . Sometimes when ? attack some your unit and you win , if you know what you take , its not going to be espionage :]

there's some logic to that, i guess!

2. October 2004, 13:01:32

you could always show the captured piece as a ? I guess...
But I would prefer to see the pieces that were already taken from me. At least in these first times when I never know exactly how many pieces I have of each kind...

How about typing the starting number of pieces and ranks in your hidden notes box then reducing the number accordingly when a piece is captured?

the notes option should be only 1 space and not 1 for each move you make. so i dont have to keep rewritting my moves ever single turn plsuy there to far south and i need to be abelt o look at the boards adn notes simultaneously!

The more I play Espionage, I would agree that having a list of known pieces captured would be nice.

And still a great suggestion - have an option to put game notes field above game board.

And still a great suggestion - have an option to put the "move" buttons above the game board (Once move is finished - less page scrolling - faster game play)

About the enemies. Fine, I dont mind that I cant message them and the other all sorts of this and that but I'd like to know if someone who has me as an enemy is online, what harm can I do? I dont want to post messages on public boards directed at some brainless lunatic when I dont know if he's online to respond, how do I know what time it is in Canada? So it would be convenient to see the idiot is here and that he might be reading or have read the messages.

3. October 2004, 21:24:03
rod03801
Ugh, I believe you can already tell if an enemy is online, by visiting your Enemies page. If they are not online, it shows what their last action was...
(At least it appears that way with the one person I have on my enemies list.)

Thanks, I have no designated enemies, it's about those who put me on their enemies list, does the same apply?

3. October 2004, 21:32:54
coan.net
The point of putting someone on your enemies list is so that person will stop bothering you - so it's good that the enemy can't see what your doing - in my opinion.

3. October 2004, 21:41:24
ughaibu
No, some nutcase puts me on their enemies list, they can see what I'm doing, can they? I cant see them, where's the sense? I did nothing except annoy those idiots.

3. October 2004, 21:52:04
coan.net
You may find this shocking, but some people don't like to be annoyed. If you do not want them to see what you are doing either, you can also put them on your enemy list.

But this site is here to play board games, not be annoyed by people.

3. October 2004, 21:58:21
ughaibu
No private messages, no visible games in the waiting room, how can I annoy them? Public boards become nonsense if we dont know whether or not our interlocutor exists.

3. October 2004, 22:02:46
ughaibu
As far as I know I'm only on the enemies list of two members. One for no reason, I've never messaged or played with that member, the other hinted that it was because I invited him to 90 games at one move/day, at that time he was complaining all over the boards about slow opponents, I was being helpful.

3. October 2004, 22:16:34
rod03801
actually, the one person on my enemies list is only there, because I discovered by mistake that I was on theirs. So, I put them on mine, so I could see what was up.. I CAN see what their "last action" was, on my Enemies page, as I assume they must be able to see MY last action also.. I did not even know this person, so was suprised to find myself on their enemy list.. I discovered later, this person is actually an alternate ID of someone else..

I was frankly surprised that we can see each other's actions in this way. I was under the impression that putting a person on your enemies list kept them from "seeing" what you are doing, etc...

So, Ugh if you do want to see this, you will have to put that person on your own enemies list yourself..

3. October 2004, 22:19:18
ughaibu
Thanks. I'll consider it but generally I dont like the idea of an enemies list so dont want to comply with such a culture.

I'm not asking for anything you can't get from a scan of the board. If you capture a ?, you get a ? in the list of captured pieces.
