Useless Bravery
J. M. Vargas
When He is alone,
He has enough bravery
To equal an army's.
But when He is with Her,
All the bravery yields to cowardice.
He hides his true feelings
Behind facade hidden behind facade,
When He is with Her.
Why hide your true feelings?
He does not know the answer.
Why the facades? This He knows:
To hide an easily scarred
And punctured heart.
He thinks his feelings
Are his weaknes:
His Achilles Heel.
How unfortunate, He doesn't understand.
His feelings can be his strength.
When She leaves Him,
A part of Him is torn apart.
Yet He does nothing
To ease his pain.
And in the end,
When Hs is alone,
All his bravery is useless.
Tiger, The
Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And, when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?
What the hammer? What the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And water`d heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?
Tiger, tiger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

alanback: Of course. Most people learned it in high school Freshman English. The Vampire by Kipling is a little less well known but also an awesome poem.
Aragon: Would it be less trouble to ban the very small group of abusive pawns..most of who have been banned before on other boards..rather than burden both the good pawns and the mods with pre-screening the posts? I really don't like censorship but when you take a quiet board like this one and suddenly you get a rash of posters pushing the envelope you can just bet it isn't out of any newly acquired love of poetry. It's love of trouble.
Aragon: We agree on something at least. Hunting is vile in my estimation. I just used an old school popular expression from south of the Mason-Dixon line. LOL.
Aragon: So now you are the one lecturing, threatening and censoring in place of Usurper because of your superior taste, intelligence and judgement? Uhhhh..that dog won't hunt.
There was a young lady of Riga
Who smiled as she rode on a tiger;
They returned from the ride
With the lady inside,
And the smile on the face of the tiger.
Aragon KM is a true genius at everything he undertakes. When he turns that genius to checkers all the "top" guys better head for the woods. My plan is to keep him distracted with Trivia Quizzes. LOL
The late Errol Flynn died from a heart attack on his YACHT with TWO 18 yr. old girls. While never condoning the age of the girls, men everywhere tipped their hat to him.
Miss Tat..I said I REPRESENT that remark (not resent) It's an old joke I heard Milton Berle use a few times. Ask your Granpa who Milton Berle was. I admit it wasn't very funny. :o)
