awesome:  Thanks for the finds.  I haven't thought about Emerson, Lake & Palmer.  I have them on vinyl.  They really were great!  Also interesting about Jimmy Page pretending to play Beck's parts.  Huh?

nivabef:  Dixie Chicks have been great all these years.  This CD is really a departure for them.  I got it the first week as a gift, and have enjoyed it over and over and over!

I bought the new Dixie Chicks CD a few days after it was released, but for some reason put it aside and didn't open it until this week. It's so good I can't stand to take it out of the CD player. I just dropped $125 on two tickets to see them in December! I haven't seen them since Lilith Fair in 1999 and I can't wait.

Also, I don't think I will ever fully get into this downloading music thing. I do download songs when there are only one or two from an album that I want, but if I want the whole album, I'll definitely buy the actual CD. There's just something about opening a new CD, looking at the cover art and studying the liner notes that's just heaven to me.

Love singer Lee dies aged 61
Arthur Lee, the singer and songwriter with the pioneering Sixties band Love, has died aged 61 after a lengthy battle with leukaemia.

The musician died on Thursday afternoon in hospital in Memphis.

Love's most famous album was the 1968 bestseller Forever Changes.

Lee, who is survived by his wife, Diane, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in February and received a rare umbilical cord blood transplant in May at Methodist University Hospital.

But a hospital spokeswoman said he never left the hospital after that.

He formed Love in Los Angeles in 1965 and the group released their self-titled debut album the next year under the newly-formed Elektra Records.

They released a total of three albums fusing rock, blues and psychedelia.

In the 1990s, Lee spent time in jail for illegal possession of a firearm.

But he made a successful comeback in 2002, touring the US and Europe with a new band line-up.

As for the CD you want to compile, I'd advise you to check copyright laws before getting too deep into the subject.

Thanks for the tip on the cd to look for, album art seems to have been a very ignored pleasure since the demise of the LP

Jim Dandy:  I should have responded yesterday, but you sent me off on a quest.  I had to find out what FLAC files are, and how one plays them.  I found it's site, very easy, just Google it, and I got the names and URLs for decoders.  Then, to clarify my new-found knowledge, I had to check it out with my favorite geek.  Well, you know how geeks are, and I'm still not sure.  I've heard a lot about the decoders not working.  Evidently, most of FLAC is free technology.  WuHu!!! (Loved that!) - just like the old Internet.

But, FYI, if you like Big Wu.  I have discovered the CD of theirs I like the most (mainstream stuff here) and that is Spring Reverb.  They have the Dead sound, but their harmonies are sooooooo lovely on that CD.  And, their album art?  Gauguin-like - really fun to stare at.

(gawd - I wish I'd proof before I hit enter)

Jim Dandy:  There is a clip of them on U Tune.  I didn't put it up here, because somehow it sounded distorted on my system.  It might be alright, but either way, you could check them out.  I can suggest their album Tracking Buffalo Through the Bathtub, recorded in 1999.  I've been meaning to download it for a long time.  They bear watching as far as I'm concerned.

Does anyone know if U Tune is tied to WMP?
