What? Overrated? They arent overrated, they are just well known and liked. In my mind, their songs have plenty of depth.

morning gooner:)
Our friend bumble is quoting Fencer on the "never ending" lyrics:)
I recieved a confirmation from the US Copyright office, stateing they have recieved my email, and if it is an appropriate question, they will respond in 5 days.If not I will personally call Washington and get an answer.
The Beatles:
wasnt a big fan till later in life, though one of their hits seems fitting.

I think we have moved on from the "endless song lyrics" from which you refer to, but isn't that part of having a music discussion board?? Soon we will be in a position where people will be looking over there shoulders for just quoting a great line from a song. I look forward to your findings Bwild, it should be interesting to know once and for all.
I might open a can of worms here Greg but I think the beatles are the most overrated band in music history. I haven't found much depth to most of there songs. Am I alone here????????

I see no problem with that SF.:)

to share a song with a friend is great...but to paste an entire song...with no discussion about it is where I see the potential problem...especially if it were brought to the attention of the right people.but to discus music, songs and their lyrics and use parts of the discussed song,is not a problem. The great thing about these discussion boards is it gives non-paying members a taste of what can be enjoyed by the paying members.

indeed there are people who cAn have a meaningful discussion
by exchanging songtexts. I look over the 'neverending' meant for emphasis.
On the other side/principle, a lyrics collection is actually best held in a FS imho ... ~*~

I sent an inquiry to the US Copyright office.I'll probably have an answer back within 5 to 6 days.
I spent a couple hour perusing the copyright law...and find nothing but gray area on both sides. So I'll get an answer straight from the horses mouth.
now.....back to our regurlay scheduled program! ;)

The way I see it is that when Fencer changed moderators he saw it as an opportunity to change the style of this Music db.
"will you keep the topic on some meaningful music discussion instead of neverending postings of long [and probably copyrighted] texts of songs?"

I believe Fencer wants a discussion board to be used as just that - a discussion board.
Posting song lyrics would ruin any flow of discussion.

If this db goes back to posting endless song lyrics I can see Fencer deleting it. Why should he take the risk?

no - actually it's up to whoever to prove that it is NOT legal.
since canditacy will be found easily though - in the commonly known
circles who always threaten sites with legal actions when they can't
get their cheater-will, we won't have to wait for very long until the first
desperate blurring will occur ... I for my person won't stoop to any
waving with certificates. PD (public domain) is not the only anchor.
FD (freely distributable) lyrics are given by numerous artists, as well ... ~*~

Pretty bubbles in the air
They fly so high, nearly reach the sky
Then like West Ham
They fade and die
Arsenal's always running
Chelsea's running too
And so's the Park Lane Tottenham
Running after you ♫♪♫
