This setup contains the free as well as the paid version of AVG Anti-Spyware. After the installation, a free 30-day trial version containing all the extensions of the full version will be activated. At the end of the trial, these extensions will be deactivated and the program will turn into a feature-limited freeware version. The purchased license code can be entered at any time.
(just incase anyone needs to get rid of the drive cleaner pop up ect)
Subject: Re: that that messenger service is turned back on, and those pop up messages start coming fast & furious again. So I seem to have to shut it back off each time I come online. Hopefully after this upgrade is installed this will stop??
rod03801: Do you actually mean the messenger as in the one you can send messages to other people with ?
If so click start then control panel ,then open the icon for add and remove programs when that opens on the left hand side look for add or remove windows components ,when that opens scroll down untill you see windows messenger and take the tick out , then it wont start up .

rod03801: certain sites that you go on (ones for serial codes ect) will intall a bit of software on your machine they do not normally damage your machine but they do your head in when they keep poping up in the little balloons every 10 seconds or so , i tried all sorts to get rid , in the end i bought some antivirus protection and that sorted it out easily .
MagicDragon: IF you are going on to dial up you will need an internal modem (you should have one already on your machine as standard ) should be no reason to delete or format anything on your machine . when you get your dial up connection xp will most likely find everything required .
TeamBundy: I had the same problem with one of my pc's a few years ago , i tried everything to cure it , when we left dial up and joined broadband the freezing stopped and still has no problems to this day , if i went back to dial up im sure it would start playing up again . Not sure if you are on broadband or dial up though .
anastasia: nero should give you some options/warnings that sould have made the correct copy for all types of differnt players and not just for the pc, i cant check now as im working from my laptop for a while ,
make sure you can play copies on your dvd player too as some wont play certain brands.
If its an old hotmail account that would work but new hotmail accounts made in the last 18 months (approx) wont support outlook unless its an upgraded account .
I had the same problem a few months ago it damaged my hard drive (2 of them) i have found out since that it was overheating , but even after cleaning all the dirt/dust off the prosessor (sp) it has damaged my pc so i need to replace the motherboard now also a new hard drive. so cleaning is always a good idea every so often
Czuch Chuckers: you can put any music that you have on cd to your samsung digital audio player ,but to save on space converting them to mp3 or some other format will allow you to hold much more tracks. i think the latest windows audio player can do this for you which is free .
mrloupcity: depending on your cable provider you will need to give them the mac adress for that pc , some providers like mine now do it automatically to reconise any new pc's connected to thier network
playBunny: thanks playbunny would be too expensive by the looks of things .. think i will have to look at another option . I was going to use wifi but im not near enough to a hot spot to get a signal
bitwisexor: good idea but its too much over my head i will come up with something sooner or later ;)
gprs to connect a laptop so i can use it at work to play on here ect , as gprs charges for the amount you download ( £3 for one megabyte )
how much would it take to download these pages or put better how many moves could i take to use a one megabyte amount . i havent a clue , just trying to work out if it would be too expensive to use
I think just visiting certain webpages can do it , but i think you may have to download something from the page to get it into your system but im not sure if you can get then by just clicking something simple like "CLICK HERE TO MAKE THIS YOUR HOMEPAGE ECT" but someone else here might know alittle more about how easy or hard it is to avoid getting it on your system
harley: I would use some software to get rid of this as soon as possible because who ever wrote it could be collecting personal details such as passwords and bank details ,some web pages have these keyloggers built into the webpage , so all antivirus ect should be kept upto date , but there are estimated one-to-two new variants and 10 to 15 websites per week which makes it hard to be 100 percent safe i think.
Hrqls: one way this can happen is if your date is set wrong on your pc , its happened to me before using wrong date ... but not noticed anything since.
Subject: i couldnt remember so just checked myself
To show your most recently used documents on the Start menu
Right-click the Start button, and then click Properties.
On the Start Menu tab, click Start menu, and then click Customize.
On the Advanced tab, select the List my most recently opened documents check box.
The next time you click Start, the My Recent Documents folder is on the Start menu. This folder contains the documents and files you opened recently.
Note
On the Advanced tab, click Clear List to empty the My Recent Documents folder. This does not delete the documents from the computer.
doing it that way only deletes the history that is stored in your history folder i believe not the drop down address bar ,, you could try the box above that one delete cookies and delte files , i just did it and it emptyied my address bar .
Scottish John: depending on what version of cubasis you have you shouldnt have a problem burning music as it supports (Wave, MP3) at least, so not sure why it cannot identyfy them .
yes a usb link cable should do just fine ,do a search for connecting pcs together , for the settings you need ,which you will need to do to both pc and laptop
we have 3 pc;s connected all the time and if i borrow a laptop or want to test another pc out i just plug it in (blueyonder now reconises new equipment added so no set up required) not sure about other network providers though . ,you can either do it through a router or with a link cable from your main machine ,but with a link cable you need to have the other pc switched on also .
i too had the same problem here looking at certain stuff, i found out it was my firewall stopping it , also an ad blocker was doing the same thing it was letting most of the stuff through but not all of it , i re adusted the software and now its fine .
operating systems on a system , but you need the older system on first i think . heres a little info that might help .http://www.micromart.co.uk/content/features/?Cat egory=Article&Type=&ID=1488
norton firewall is classing them as some sort of ad , so i just disable the ad blocking , works fine now (glad i managed to sort it out ,was going to reformat the machine if i couldnt solve it)
can anyone tell me any other method of refreshing a page ?.ive tried the refresh button f5 ect , (im trying to see the new logos on the support page but i cant get them to appear )
