Oceans Apart: It is a Dell Demension E520 Home Media Center which I can download Vista but I have to pay for that even tho the rep from Dell said that it was free but keeping Windows XP
Mousetrap: Yes it is under a 4 yr guarantee plus at home service just in case w/ the way my luck has been going LOL...Was just curious if I was doing something wrong ( still learning new things)
Oceans Apart: Anything that is idiot proof would be great! LOL I checked to see which kind of cameras is compatible w/ this comp but yours I didn't see listed. Would any camera be compatible or just the 1's that have the cables & CD-Rom to match my comp?
Mousetrap: I even checked my mail security level ( which is on medium) to be sure. Still it happens everytime I try doing this. Always right under the subject line instead of the e-mail. I even saved it as a jpeg & still can't get it. Unless it is because of the type of comp I have

Mousetrap: If I can remember it right, I went to My Pictures on the main page right before I click on start. I selected a pic & chopped it to a smaller size. I then saved it. I sent an e-mail to myself w/ the pic attached. I either would get the whole pic in the e-mail or get an attachment right under the subject line. Just can't get it into a jpeg or something else that would go into the e-mail where you just click on the bottom to get the pic. That is 1 way I tried doing this but I forgot the other ways I tried sorry

I have 2 pic's in my My Picture folder & wondering how I can chop a pic & when I send it out, how to put it in a jpeg attachment? I have tried everything so far that I could think of but it isn't cooperating w/ me so far
Which is a good camera to get? Which 1's didn't measure up good at all? Going to be getting a camera but doing some compare shopping at the moment. Thank You
Subject: Re: System Restore effects MSN Sign-in Page
Mystery Man: I have a Dell Demension E520. When I had to reboot my comp, I had to re-sign up for MSN & lost everything that I already had saved an such. I didn't have a problem when I was rebooting using System Restore but did lose info that I did save prior to the rebooting to an earlier date tho..sorry if I didn't answer your question
Finally got my comp back on-line now. Had to un-install everything from Nortons just to get MSN to work. I'm wondering why Norton firewalled MSN even after I rebooted the whole comp? I'm using McAfee Security at the moment & the comp is actually going alot faster than before. I tried using firefox 1 time & it was running extremely slow then. IE seems to me to work better
Fencer: It is my comp's ISP & webtv is my back-up. Mom doesn't like to go near a comp 1 bit & webtv is safer for her to use & understand mostly especially no waiting for me to get off the comp so she came get on-line! LOL I play games & have accounts at different sites that webtv can'y get into (no java)
Everything was working great last night & when I tried logging on this morning, my messenger wouldn't connect at all & I get a pop=up saying that MSN wouldn't be able to connect w/o it. I'm on webtv again. I'm wondering if it is because my comp would automatically upgrade to Vista when I 1st got it & changed everything or would I have to reboot the comp & ten re-install MSN again?
Rose: Network Card? When I ordered the new comp, they never mentioned it to me let alone knowing about it. On this comp, everytime I look under for High Speed, I need a DSL modem for it unfortunately
Rose: So sorry that I haven't read the computer board in such a long time! LOL Everything is built right in & the only time I'm asked if I'm going to use dial-up or DSL is my ISP server. I have a DSL modem after I changed ISP's to dial up & I can't use it because 1 part flashes red unless I want to get a brand new 1
I finally figured it out what both phone co. & Dell didn't tell me. I had to un-install everything from the High Speed connection modem & then re-boot. Talk about "jumping for joy" so to speak. LOL I had an internal modem but I had to connect to the interent before anything was done & I couldn't even come close at the time. Again TY so much for the help Groucho
Oh ok...Hopefully when I do it, I will only have the current modem instead of the 1 that is listed. If It stil has that pesky modem, I'll give them a call for in home service
Dell automatically would upgrade it to Vista when it comes available but at the moment it is running the XP. At what time of the rebooting would I release them?
When I do turn it on, I have 2 almost black screens w/ some writing on it & then gives me a choice on which Windows I'm using, I click on XP Media Center I do believe then it starts up
Gr☺uch☺: I have the versatile/ multimedia 1. Media Center is what it is & at the moment it is running XP until it is upgraded to Vista whenever & whatever that is
Gr☺uch☺: If I call Dell, & they'll help me w/ deleting everything & start brand new, not sure if it will take away the High Speed modem that is currently there or at least have the new modem right underneath it
Gr☺uch☺: Not sure but before I do a modem configuration, should I ask Dell's help or would it be safe? The phone company told me to call them & dell told me to call them back to fix it. I think I'm in the middle of phone tag
Gr☺uch☺: Under Network & Internet Connections, I have only 1 thing under it & it is LAN & High Speed Intel. I used to have DSL but everything associated w/ it was completely deleted before my computer crashed. I usually would have my PC modem right under it so I can go on-line but it wasn't there. I checked to see if the modem was working good & it came back that it was working fine & no problems it wasn't the same PCI that I have now. I put in a CD Rom for a new ISP but it came back that I had to connect before it can do anything. I cancelled my DSL service & last wk, I received post card type mail from the phone company which the DSL was under, they mentioned to me that they gave me an extra 30 days of service ( which I cancelled in late Nov) as mandatory. I did call my new ISP service & they fixed it so I can have a link to actually log into mt PC before it crashed
The 1 PCI modem is the only modem that I have in network connection but w/ the new CPU, I have a totally different 1 at the moment but it isn't under the network connections
I had to get a new CPU because the other 1 totally crashed on me :( I now have a Dimension E 520 which is a media center type of thing from Dell. 1 question I have is this, I changed my ISP from High speed to dial up but that ISP gave me another 30 days ( definitely less now), I'm wondering, when that ISP which uses High Speed is finished, would I be able to delete that 1 connection for the computer or would I have to get a link?
Oh I see...When I had the MSN messenger working, it always signs me off automatically & vise versa..never had any problems w/ it. It was a 7.0 & now I have 7.5 messenger

nobleheart: I have alot of friends & family who are still on webtv & this is mostly the only thing that works unless I'm mistaken. I do have messenger from Yahoo however. I'm wondering would Googles new messenger be capable w/ webtv?

I have a problem w/ my messenger & don't know what to do about it...I tried at least 6 times to change my password & after each time I gave 1 day before I tried to log into it (for my Hotmail account)& keep getting that I was logging in to much. Would I have to completely delete everything related to it or should I have to reboot? I can still get into my Hotmail but not the messenger part.
If I do need to download anything, I'll have it thru my ISP & that way I don't have to worry as much. Even got a computer check-up that I can have them check everything out when I'm either on or off-line
volant: I do have the 800 number but mostly if I have a problem w/ something, I would get a pop-up explaining what the problem is & I can send it to them which is good!
ScarletRose: I checked everything what it said to do w/ hooking the speakers. I found the problem, I had it plugged 1 spot over but when I looked it had 3 plug ins while I have 4! LOL
ScarletRose: Yes it is a new computer that I got from Dell. They said everything was already programmed but I have CD's that I can use for reinstalling. Everything else is working great so far except for the sound part. I have to recheck it tho.. Thank You for the help!
Well I received my computer Wed. After I hooked everything up & got it running an such, I can't seem to get the sound to work. Do I have to reinstall the sound before it works? Thanks
Antje: Gotcha! LOL I have to go w/ the cable modem. I think but not sure is when you get the phone dial-up, would you need long distance? Only have international calling on my phone which might not work.
Rose: Oh ok. Let see if I get this correct..I just ask about installing a phone modem for a phone dial up connection (have Caller ID on my phone) so I don't need anything else for that. Also pay extra for a network card which should be included. Again Thank You! Now I got it!
Hrqls: Thank You for the info! I did checkout the Mac's & they looked very good as well. 1 factor is the price but in the future, I might get a Mac ( not taking away all the good advice for them) also. 1 question tho, would my phone line be connected to it? If so, on the computer screen, would it say that I have or had a call or 2? Maybe it is a dumb question on my part but I'm just curious. Again Thank You for all the great info on each type of computers!
