stevie, yes i race on the ovals, both mud and real ones! lol i started out on the dirt tracks up here in the fingerlakes of ny, switched to pavement 2 yrs ago, partly for a change of pace and partly because of the nascar sanction at the track!! everyone wants to drive nascar!!! i've done it!(in a way) lol i won the track championship in 2003, i own the car that won it in 2004!!! it was fun but way too much work! i'm taking it easy this year and have no plans on getting into a points chase! i also have picked up a junior driver( we have a class just for the kids from 12 to 15) you probably know his mom, i know bwild does! lol MidnightMcMedic not too sure if she'll kill me for telling everyone i know her or not, but i'm feeling adventurous today! lol it should be a fun summer! I'm going to try and get her into the car for a couple of powder-puff races too! (ladies only, no current or past drivers)
Backoff: Now lets compare that to the viper which can be found at most Dodge Dealerships in the US.
500 horsepower
525 lb-ft of torque
505 cubic inches of displacement
Acceleration1 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds
Standing 1/4 Mile (stock) 12.1@119.3 MPH
Lateral Acc. 1.02G (Lets see the benz do this)
I had a 1994 RT/10 which was just about 400 HP. There was a kit that the shop on Long Island would install for another $15,000 to drop the 0-60 to 3.7 seconds.
There was one drawback: this sidepipes would get red hot! Occasionally when getting out of the car, my left leg would get too close to it, and damn!
I don't like the body style of the new Vipers, but 500 HP is nothing to sneeze at either.
Stevie: very nice.
Thats an average of more than 100 kmh
Considering its from a stopped position, very very impressive for a street legal car.
I think I could pull a 14 second 1/4 block in mine :(
Stevie: lol, i've been trying to tell the guys for years, that you can make a million hp, but if you don't put it on the ground. all you're gonna do is make noise and smoke!!
Stevie: just to put a 1/4 mile into perspective for someone like me who has never done it.
What time would say a stock standard normal little 4 door honda civic with about 125 HP pull in a qm?
I suppose I would guess over 20 but would be curious to know
wayney: is that a vtec engine or normal 8 valve?
Ally's 1.6 vtec delsol (2 door convertable civic) with induction kit and sports exhaust doe sit in around high 16's ( not sure of the bhp of it).
It depends of if your civics are same as ours, and what age etc etc. can you show me a piccy on the net of the type you have, and Ill find out from my club members for you
I went out in a equivalent 1.3 litre 625cc twin rotor mazda RX7 the other night :oD that was a a lovely moter :oD but then next night raced it with my scooby.... mine was there with it , if not just as good or quicker :oD wow, on public roads it was scarey mind you ;o)
i got 11th out of 26! not too bad considering the top 15 were nose to tail the whole race! jeremy got 10th out of 15 in the bandits(thats kids from 11 to 15 yrs old in full race cars) he'd never even driven a go-kart before! the kid did awesome! for those of you who know who D is, send him a congrats through her! he'll love it!
he's fine, the car will be! no worries! just the result of a 14yr old feeling his oats! lol i guess it's better on the track than in his moms' car on the street in a coulpe of years!
