It's been a while, and things may change, with all those bishops rearing for action. So here are a couple of one day ponds, they'll fire off as soon as 16 brave soles muster up :)
no. it starts at round 12, which is the last where pyssso could bid. he bid 922, which is 1 more than the 2nd best, giving him 500. he's left with 882. round 13, the system trys to bids for him again 922, which is more than he's got, so it bids the 882 left. it's the best bid, so he gets 500. round 14 and 15 same story, the system bids 500 which is the best bid. he can't get under 500.
rabbitoid: Yes, but if a pawn can't submit bids then isn't submitting them automaticaly about the same thing as bidding? Seems like a zero should be the bid not the last bid they made?
As someone has kindly bought me a temporary membership I’ve taken the opportunity to update the percentage win table for regular Run Around The Ponds.
This table is compiled by ranking players on a percentage of games won basis. To be eligible players must now have won at least 3 ponds. The number of wins figures link to a list of the tournaments won and BKR ratings link to a graph of their history. Only completed ponds are included.
This list includes all players with 3 or more wins.
BerniceC: One of the extra benifits to Knights are more games. Extra benifits to rooks are yet more games & ability to start fellowship, tournaments, ponds, etc.....
But an easy way around it is if you really want a tournament or pond started, just ask a current rook to set it up for you. They can easly add the line "This pond is set up for BerniceC" or something like that.
BerniceC: I hope this link works :) If it doesn't (sorry), click "Ponds" on the left menu and you'll find a "Define new pond" link at the top of that page.
McduellMUG: something that may help you in your first games would be to look at the history of some other recently finished games here http://brainking.com/en/Pond?trnst=3&trt=0 . I would pick some games that have about the same amount of players to look at and give you an idea of how the bidding usually goes.
McduellMUG: You bid a number. You are trying to pick one high enough so that you are not the lowest number, but not so high you don't have enough points left at the end of the game.
Subject: Re: How do the ponds work for point? How does it move to make a move?
McduellMUG: the moves are determined by the time limit, the game you are in has a 7 day time limit so a move will be made every 7 days from the start of it at which time lowest bid in each round will "fall in" which means "be done for that game". As far as points(BKR), It's never been fully explained, but its kind of like averaging wins from everybody that has fallen in before you against losses to everybody you have fallen in before, but more complicated.

All points will be calculated after the first 100th pond is complete, and top 30 will be listed on the fellowship and pond discussion board for the next (Brainking T Shirt prize) Back to the list of ponds
Pond type: Run around the pond Pond ID: 2599 Minimum number of players: 16 Maximum number of players: 16 Time per move: 2 days Start: 23. July 2006, 06:00:00 Current round number: 9 Current round deadline: 19. August 2006, 12:00:09 Time left: 1 day 23 hours
If I am away on vacation, I can usually get on to the Internet about once a week. Therefore, creating Ponds with 7 day time limits makes a lot of sense to me. There is nothing more frustrating than having to drop out of a Pond because you cannot get on-line.
If we had enough 7 day Ponds, then they would pop up with the same frequency as 1 day Ponds!
What do you guys think?
Pedro Martínez: yesterday I was number 7 on the list and ahead of you LOLOL....didnt last long came 7th in a pond and it put me in 12th place ROFL...
as an aside...my suggestion would be that once you become a pawn, you are put on a temporary "listing" and if you do not pay your membership within 10 days you should be dropped from all ponds games/ratings.....any thoughts on this????
