alexlee: my guess would be that she made her bid right before she turned pawn and before you made your bid. I'm in an eleven day pond right now with a pawn, I hate those because I feel that it would be smarter to wait just in case they decide to renew their membership
coan.net: Ok, thanks and I will watch and see what happens. I knew she was a pawn with the last move being 1220, thats why I bid 1223 but no one else did so that was kind of weird
Vikings: I am sure in this one Today is the first day of the rest of the mess. she was a pawn when her last bid was 1220. Next time she had a bid of 1500. I'll just continue to watch for now. I don't suppose there is any way to tell what day someone turned into a pawn?
If a member changes to a pawn can they now continue to play if they were already in a pond? If so when did this start and was it posted anywhere? Seems like if a rule changes it should have been posted but if it was I can not find where?
well, there are ponds that'll start in 96 days with >30 players... and most that will start within the next month have enough to start... and i didnt have a brain rook for a while so i'm not in the loop and trying to get more ponds started ;)
since there are a ton of ponds all filled up, but they will start in 15.30...60 days... i created some new ones that are ready to start in the next days. 2days per move, 16 players max
To all those that had signed up for my slow ponds in 2011:
rabbitoid spotted that I had mistakenly set them up as 2 day ponds instead of 7 day ponds from March onwards, and was kind enough to let me know. It's impossible to change the days/move after creating a pond (and rightfully so). I figured there's at least a remote possibility that others signed up thinking it were 7 day ponds too (like myself ;)), so I decided to delete the ones were I made the mistake, and recreate them with 7 days.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience this causes for those that had already signed up. Please sign up again :)
Subject: Re: I don't think I've seen this result often
rabbitoid: I only remember one other one but I don't believe it was yours, it was very long ago. Must be a way to find any, they would have no winner listed?
But the question here is, if two or more people (not multinicks) play together in a pond, is that really the same as "losing on purpose for the goal of boosting ratings" ? That is at least debatable - I imagine team play could take many forms. Why not remove all doubt and put it in the pond rules? Besides, that's the obvious place for users to look if they are in doubt.
pedestrian: The part of the rules Pedro is refering to are the following:
Each individual who plays on BrainKing is asked to use one, and only one, BrainKing account. Multiple accounts created for cheating in tournaments, games, ratings, or to get around bans on boards are prohibited.
NO CHEATING. This includes using outside programs to help play and *losing on purpose for the goal of boosting ratings.* Your account may be banned, and ratings will be removed.
Pedro Martínez: I'm sure the user agreement is posted somewhere, but I can't find it. Maybe it's just me, be I think it's best if the rules are made as obvious as possible.
pedestrian: If pawns are allowed in ponds, the rules need to be clarified. For instance, there's nothing in the pond rules about people coordinating their moves and/or playing together as a team.
There is no need to do that. The general rules of the User Agreement clearly prohibit such conduct.
Vikings: If pawns are allowed in ponds, the rules need to be clarified. For instance, there's nothing in the pond rules about people coordinating their moves and/or playing together as a team. It would be quite easy to have a few friends sign up as pawns and make helpful moves. And only those who follow this board closely have any idea whether this is allowed or not.
furbster: originally it was a perk for paying members but I think Fencer has plans to let pawns play (at least on a limited basis) when BK3.0 comes out
