Pawns can make linear moves and all pieces can jump only orthogonally.
(*) It is mandatory to capture as many pieces (as one multi-jump) as possible.
(**) It is mandatory to capture the maximum possible amount of promoted pieces.
(***) It is mandatory to capture with a promoted piece if possible.
Gothic Checkers
Gothic Checkers is one of the newest variation of Checkers with two important differences:
Starting position of the pieces. As the following picture shows, the pieces are placed on both dark and light fields of the board:
Movement of pieces. A pawn can move (and jump) in five directions - the standard Checkers diagonally-forward moves are extended by horizontally-left, horizontally-right and directly forward moves. When a pawn reaches the last row, it turns to a king that can move (and jump) one space in any direction (left, up-left, up, up-right, right, down-right, down and down-left).
