Thom27: Seriously, people seems to never get tired of this subject. Treating the RNG you are getting as sequential is wrong. As simple as that. Selective memory reigns as supreme as always.
Temo: Re: Should brainking.com leave or stay on the internet?
ketchuplover: The fate of one's possessions is not decided by public vote but by the will of the owner. Asking for a public vote for brainking.com to leave the internet is like me asking for a public vote for your PC to leave the physical World.
So, some people have to learn to recognize their limits and the rights of others, in my opinion.
Fencer: So, the awaited "big announcement" is, actually, nothing we did not know about.
Since it is obvious the site is a burden to you, I will certainly do my best to relieve you of this burden and I hope the other people here will decide to help you as well. Thus, as it is obvious, I am removing myself from this site as soon as my last game finishes.
moistfinger: Hmmm...accusing the site for your own weaknesses...I can guarantee you that, even if you were allowed to close your account, you would just come back and create a new one. It is not the site's fault, it is yours.
My advice: Meditate on your weaknesses. Either strengthen your resolve and eliminate them or learn to live with them without accusing others for them.
crosseyed: Indeed. Trump may have read The Col's comment and he is now trying to get Fencer's certificate ready in order to get him to be his VP.
I can only imagine the amount of non-stop work this would require that Fencer would be absolutely unable to find 5 minutes to post an announcement he, himself, said he would 6 days ago.
A totally justified reason to absolutely ignore a bunch of people waiting to see the owner's thoughts on the future of their favorite gaming site.
happyjuggler0: No problem. You just fake a birth certificate. Obama did it xD!
Also, sorry for not help laughing when I hear the word "immigrant" when it refers to people going to the US. As if those of non-American decent(e.g European, African, Asian etc) born there are "natives" somehow :p.
Bernice: It is called "Bug Tracker" although people tend to report problems at the "Feature Requests" or "Brainking.com" boards, since Fencer has stated that the bug tracker is ignored.
@badgerboy78: The site does have several bugs that have been/are being reported regularly. The proof are all over the place. I have experienced some of them myself, too. I do not say they are critical problems or anything but problems they are.
DeaD man WalkiN: If I recall correctly, this is the bonus for hitting the last frog. It looks like it exists so that players can risk playing aggressively and still be able to win the game.
crosseyed: I see. So, offering advise and stating one's opinion about games counts as arrogance for you. Thanks for letting me know, even if it is so much later than it should. I humbly apologize if I offended you when I thought we were having a friendly conversation. It was not my intention and rest assured it will never happen again. :)
Brian1971: Whatever. Apparently you are not reading your own messages. Also, if you think that I am belittling you and you feel the need to "defend" yourself because of that then I assume you cannot understand mine.
Last but not least, I think that you have not checked around for how much memberships cost on other sites vs what they offer. Brainking offers the greatest variety over cost that exists on the net. And you can have the full package at the cost of nothing more than limitation on number of games. No one else offers that. I think that your answers only prove that your statements are based on misconception of things and not actual knowledge or research. You say you do not know everything but you certainly talk as if you do. I am not going to bother listing one by one all the points in your messages that prove my point. They are here for everyone to read.
Sometimes one needs to defend other times he needs to apologize. The most common form of arrogance is when one does the first when he needs to do the second. And I am not the one being offended here, please do not misunderstand. I am just someone who fails to mind his own business and keep his mouth shut when I think someone is being targeted out of line.
Anyway, I have spoken my mind and I feel at ease now. I do not think I can explain things any better than what I have done so far. I apologize for the sharp tone but it is in my character to treat people the way they treat others.

Brian1971: I knew that my point would not reach you but whatever. Fencer's position is the same for quite some time now and this is known to everyone that cared to check the Forums. I am not on this site for as much time as you are but I know more about it than you, apparently. I have posted my opinion on Fencer's stance on this matter and it is available on the forums for anyone interested. That being said, expressing your opinion and accusing/belittling others without any consideration or thought, are two different things in my opinion. I never said I do not understand your frustration or discontent and you are not the first(or the last) to do so. My problem is with the way you choose to express these things, as if you know everything about everything and everyone. I do not think I am qualified to judge people's characters and I have no idea if you are arrogant in general but the statements you have made on this particular matter, implicitly accusing Fencer of theft and trying to patronize him on the way he should run the site publicly, as if you have the skills to build and maintain the site as a programmer, analyst, administrator, owner and manager(yes, he fills all these roles), really disturbed me.
Brian1971: Damn man! Go and make a site from scratch equivalent to the one Fencer has made and then start making those statements. It pisses me off that people can be so arrogant without ever trying to be in the shoes of those they accuse. Just like crosseyed, who arrogantly thinks she is qualified to judge other people's character over the forums "without starting an argument", you are way out of line here. For people like you two, there is absolutely absolutely no use for Fencer(or anyone else for that matter) to reply and state his mind, in my opinion. You only care to impose your views, not to understand the actual state of affairs.(In comparison, I am arguing over statements.I do not insult people over their character. Although I am certain that it is useless to point out the difference, since those not already interested in noticing, will ignore it anyway :P)
Happy New Year to everyone! I wish your choices lead you to happiness
crosseyed: I said what I wanted to say. If you think it is arrogant for some reason(although I have no idea how that could be, since it is not my site or my work), you are certainly free to do so. No need to blame the translation as an excuse for what you deem improper or whatever.
I will never stop being amazed of how people treat the one that exposes arrogance as arrogant. However, I can say I am pretty much used to it by now. You cannot beat people's choice for preferences over truth, anyway.

beach: Of course, I guess you missed the point why I responded to Brian's opinion that way, right? I did not put down his opinion, I just exposed the irrationality and arrogance in using the "I want my money to be put in good use instead of just being taken" argument. Implying that someone gets your money without providing any service in return equals to accusing someone of theft. I think this is especially insulting when you actually receive more than you pay for. And, yes, I think we should be grateful that Fencer is still putting up with that behavior, which I assume was what made him lose motivation for putting effort to this site, to begin with.
beach: So, Brian was stating his opinion being harsh and inconsiderate and he is entitled to do it that way because you agree with it, while me stating my opinion in the same way(while being accurate and consistent with reality, and without the inconsiderate part) is something you think I am not entitled to?
Sorry but I do not think you sound any convincing at all :p.

Brian1971: Objectively speaking, site maintenance costs. The amount of $3/month per subscribed player is hardly enough to support site maintenance, not to even think about improvements and innovations. It is common for people to only think about what they wish for, disregarding the fact that this would cost those granting the wishes much more than they are willing to compensate for.
In short: You should be glad that you can play on this site with $3/month, considering that your money is not enough to cover the maintenance costs. This type of arrogant thinking is what leads site owners to shut down their sites and get rid of ungrateful people. :/
speachless: It is my opinion that the clock on a site like this serves as a means to prevent abuse and mischief by players with no spirit of sportsmanship. The main goal is to provide the most entertaining way to spend your time by playing games. The rules exist to provide this and exceptions to the rules are always welcome by everyone in the spirit of enjoying the games. When a player like you, which has so many games at a high level of quality, interest and entertainment gets into such a rare situation as this one, I think it is imperative for the administrator to provide the means to secure the entertainment of all players involved. Very few players are in this for vain points and ratings. I think that I speak for the vast majority when I say that, in this specific occurrence, Fencer should had suspended the timer globally for a day, so that the entertainment of the players involved in these games would be preserved, rather than giving the excuse of "fairness" for not doing so. If a player had a problem with that, he/she could request the time forfeit specifically for his/her games and be done with it. I, for one, am really disappointed for winning our game on time like this. Being indifferent is one thing, being in such a situation and requesting an exception is another.
I am not saying it is the end of the world or anything, I just feel that it is unacceptable to miss the spirit of the rules in favor of the letter of them.

speachless: It is so sad that this had to happen. I am pretty sure none of us wanted to win on time-out like that. Too pity Fencer decided not to suspend the timer for one day...considering it has already happened by mistake more than once...
TomsWife4Life: It is about 3 seconds per game x500=1500 seconds =less than half an hour(1800 seconds). Waiting for Fencer will take significantly longer, trust me.
TomsWife4Life: Just go on and resign as many times as you need for the match to end.It does not matter if it is your turn or not.You can always resign a game anytime.
Bernice: Is this the first time in the 13 years you are a member that this happens? As I have quite a few dice games running, I have noticed it happen on occasions and if you couple that with the selective memory we humans have, it makes quite an impression when it does.
Walter Montego: It has happened and reported before by others. I do not know if there is a "ghost in the machine" but I doubt the ghostbusters could do anything about this kind of ghost. I would speculate that a lady bug must be making rounds somewhere and only "bug exterminator" Fencer could do something about it.
Gabriel Almeida: The fact is that you have no idea when a tournament will finish. If players play at time limit, due to other games and RL obligations, even an 1 day/move tournament can take years to finish, depending on the game.
Certain backgammon variations and some games can have hundreds of moves. Multiply by time limit and number of different games. It is unavoidable.
When you invite players to your tournaments, is there a way to know whom you have already invited, so that you avoid bothering people that would not like to participate with multiple invitations?
Temo: Re: A piece of advice to Brain Pawns(and those that like fast games)
Hrqls: Hm. 4 days "dead time" per week is certainly long...Your tip is a bit hard to follow. Unless an opponent specifically requests that I give him some time due to x reason and not play my move as soon as I am inclined to(my OCD hates logging off Brainking with games still on my turn), I will not pay any attention to a player's "dead time". It is everyone's responsibility to take games that can fit to their regular schedule but, since we are humans and sh*t happens, a reasonable request for some time will be respected by me, due to special circumstances.
Temo: Re: A piece of advice to Brain Pawns(and those that like fast games)
Thom27: Nice warning Thom. One should always be mindful of the time controls of a game they accept/take and *avoid taking them* if they cannot meet the requirements. Having your games taken by a player that time forfeits on move 1 is quite irritating and people doing that end up in my blocked players list the second time they do it.
When I was posting games with such time controls, I used to put a warning in the text for those considering to take them. Nonetheless, people kept time-forfeiting. This is why I stopped posting Fischer Time games. I do not enjoy time forfeits. I like quick time controls because I want my games to end in a reasonable time but the point is to *play* the game, not just win it and, *especially* not win it by time forfeit.
My post was meant to help people with few games allowance that have to wait for ages their opponents to play a move, just because of poor time control definition, not to be a "guide to luring your opponent into time forfeits". :p
Temo: A piece of advice to Brain Pawns(and those that like fast games)
Set your time controls low(3 days/move or less) when you invite a player with many games(or your game may be picked up by such a player on the waiting games list).
Reason: Each player has so much free time willing to devote to playing board games here. When he/she logs in, he/she starts playing from the top of the list downwards. When his/her time is up, he/she calls it a day and do the other stuff one wants/needs to.
As you probably know, that list is sorted by Time Remaining. If you have long time controls, your game will spend most of its time low on the list. And this may not be significant when the opponent has 10 or 30 games. But is very significant when he/she has hundreds or thousands of games as, most likely, this will mean he/she will play one move every near-time-limit, not because he/she wants to play like that, but because until that game's turn come, the player has played tens or hundreds of moves in other games with shorter time controls(meaning, he/she may have moved 10, 20 or even more times in one single game with shorter time controls before your turn comes).
I understand this may be self-evident to most experienced players here but I thought it would be nice to post it for people that are not as experienced, yet and because I see the majority of Brain Pawns leaving their time controls to 7 days/move in the waiting games list.
I hope this little piece of information can make your games here more enjoyable.

Bernice: I think I might have an idea why the friends request message was empty. It appears that you get both a message and a friends notification when you receive a friends request.
It *might be*, that if you go first to the friends notification and accept the request, the name then disappears from the message, when you go to take a look.

Marshmud: It is interesting that you say so, because there is no player starting with "hqr" in the players list any more. I am pretty sure I have played quite a few games against him, though.
Roberto Silva: Strange. Maybe it is related to the disappearance of Hqrls.
