I know where you're coming from. It's very convenient for some people to "forget" and take advantage of a situation like a database crash. I saw it happen at IYT in the early years as well. Best thing to do is take the high road and remain positive. Chances are you'll get to defeat these people again... Best of luck with your matches...

Peace

Temo: Removing games...
Fencer, could you please remove all my existing games without affecting my BKR? I had finished all my games with these opponents and will be leaving on extended holiday shorty.

I came back to check on things, and sucky ducky...looky here! I had finished all my games last month before I left BK, and I return to find a whole set! Reminds me of the early days of IYT....lol

Anyway, since I only play backgammon, I'll be at DailyGammon.com if anyone want to pick up a game. I play under the name picklez...

Fencer et al...wish you all well with this site...

Temo: Re: Rules of Backgammon
California man, the matter here isn't really one of backgammon, but rather rules, software, and sportmanship.

I have to agree with you. I checked the posted rules on backgammon here on this site, and there is no mention of the deviation from the game what one would expect to play as backgammon.

In fairness, the one-die deviation should be posted in the on-site backgammon rules until the game deviation is fixed, if ever. It took IYT awhile to get their backgammon software up to snuff. BK is a young site; I'm sure it will take awhile for everything to get worked out here.

Since the software allows for only one die to be played when bearing off, it's not really cheating when one exercises that option, but it is not very sporting. I personally would never exercise that option.

For the short period that BK has been online, Fencer & company have done an outstanding job. We just need to be patient for perfection. :-)

btw, you do have the highest backgammon rating at BK, so expect some unsportsmanship from those who can not defeat you otherwise, and just don't play them anymore in social games. Some people just don't take losing well.

Congrats on your outstanding backgammon BKR.

peace

Fencer has done an excellent job with this site. He deserves our support, not ridicule, especially from non-paying pawns. Complaining isn't going to change anything...not for the better anyway. Let's weather this storm together. Anyone up for a hurricane party?.. Ö¿~

People play games on sites such as BrainKing, IYT, and DG for a variety of reasons, but the one reason underlying it all should be that they're doing it for fun.

I've seen recreational golfers go out to the links on a beautiful day, only to come in on the 18th angry and frustrated because they didn't make their handicap or because they sunk a couple of balls into the lake. They missed entirely the joy of being outdoors...the fresh air, the singing of birds, the trees and beautiful greens, the pleasant exercise.

I've been with fishing partners who went home with a wet tail and a broken spirit if they didn't catch any fish. The whole idea of enjoying the outdoors and relaxing just totally passed them by.

I feel sorry for people who get so fixated on golf scores, whether they caught a fish, or their game percentages and ratings that they miss out on the real fun in life. I share Eddie Spaghetti's enthusiam for reaching his 2,000th-game milestone, not because of his wonderful win-loss percentage or fabulous BKR ratings, but rather because he approaches his time spent here with the right attitude and wanted to share his joy and enthusiam.

the meatballs are ready
to pounce on you
but leave them alone
and they will go home
to contemplate how they can amass 2000 wins!

Way to go! Hope I can reach that milestone here one day. Congrats! ô¿~
