Oh bwild grow up please. I wasn't 'doggin someone', it was a long time ago when we had that last discussion about beer, and it was a joke. This was an attempt to turn HOME into the usual "who wants a beer?" "I'll have one" "wine for me" discussion which appears over so many boards. Well whatever, thats fine in its place but I don't want it at HOME. I'm sure I can live without your respect for that. But I'll tell you one thing, you want to jump on me for politely asking Steve to take it to a board that doesn't mind... what about the 'respect' he then showed everyone here by swearing over at least 4 boards that I saw - including HOME. He has his own fellowship where he can do his virtual drinking and he can swear as much as he likes. Why bring it to my fellowship?
You have a foul mouth Steve. You really need to edit that post, and a few others. I don't have you on enemies, if you really want to swear at me, do it by PM then nobody else has to be subjected to your filthy mouth.
Yes, I was. If that post was directed at her then its still not right! She can't be expected to take all this and not say anything. If she defends herself she's wrong, if she doesn't she's wrong. What can she do?
The boost a pawn fellowship is Linda trying to give to people. To put something back into BrainKing which also benefits individual people. Now am I understanding right, that you object to Linda apparently patting herself on the back for this?
I haven't seen her do that, or not taken it as that. And so what if she did? She's helped someone out, she has every right to feel good about it.
That really isn't nice. Everything Linda has ever done here has been done with BrainKing in mind. Nothing she does benefits her personally, and she has given a great deal of her time and energy to BrainKing. I think that is to be commended. I can't understand why you're so upset about what she has done and is doing.
I'll give you that, Caissus! There should be some restrictions in place. You don't see the point of having a fellowship about reptiles/animals, but its a subject close to my heart and I love chatting with other people and learning about animals. Sure, I could do that on yahoo groups, but BK is very important to me too, and I don't want to take the time away from here to run or participate in a yahoo group. But I shouldn't be able to start up 10 other fellowships with similar themes. And if there has been another fellowship/board on this subject then I wouldn't have created one myself. Its just common sense really or they probably would get out of control.
ughaibu, I also play for fun, but I like to see the serious players in action too! I think its a shame that there aren't more here, and I would like to see that change in the future.
Caissus, I respect the fact that you would like more competitions - more play, less chat. But there are quite a lot of members here who like the other side of this site. The friendly, chatty side. We make friends here, laugh and cry with each other and for me this is just as important as the games. I believe both can co-exist on BrainKing. You can have your competitive important, intense games, and I can have my friends and enjoy the chats. We rarely get in each others way at the moment, I don't see why that can't carry on in the new version of BrainKing? And I don't mean that to sound insulting! I just see the big difference in attitude towards the games with us. I respect you as a fine player.
Nobody likes change but I'm sure once its in place it will be quite simple. I have HOME, and also the reptilians which is discussion only about the great animal kingdom. I'd be quite happy to combine them if I can keep the discussions separate. In many ways it will be easier to have everything 'under one roof' so to speak!
Chief not only knew it was a multi ID, but it was one of his own multi ID's.
He asked a kind member of the KM to sponsor this ID, under the pretense that the person could not afford membership themselves. A generous person paid the membership, which Chief then used for less than honest dealings.
Usurper, I for one don't see you have done anything wrong, except to put your faith and trust in the wrong man. You did not put a false identity up for the adopt a pawn programme, which I feel is the worse thing anyone can do. Its on a par with stealing from charity.
All you did was to go along with Chief on minor things. For what its worth, you have my support.
'Licking my chops'?? Nice expression. I wouldn't care if it was you or someone I had never had dealings with. Personal feelings aside, anyone who lies, cheats and swindles good, honest people out of money (as well as ratings etc..) should do the decent thing and leave.
Isn't this just a case of using common sense?
Parents should supervise their kids no matter where they are on the net. I sure do.
And if parents or kids see anything untoward here, or anywhere else on the net then they should report it. Theres special sites to report people like that.
Ha ha, never mind!! Its a loose term anyway, I guess I chose that because snakes are quite a popular pet, but anyone who likes snakes, spiders, crocs...etc... come and join!!
LMAO, BBW, every board I've been to so far you're causing chaos!!!! I'll find you something to do before I go to bed tonight, then when I get up tomorrow you may have stayed out of trouble! I'm sure theres a cupboard round here somewhere that needs cleaning out...!!!
When I click on Icons main fellowship page it looks like my favourite boards, my fellowships etc are listed on his green news section! All the bottom row of my 'normal' page is listed in there!
Thats not a bad idea Hannelore, restricting the number of members a fellowship can have rather than the number of fellowships one person can be in.
Of course theres problems with that too, Big Bosses might say its unfair, they need so many members for this that and the other... and there would also have to be a limit on the number of fellowships one person can run.
But it seems to me that whatever rules Fencer decides are best, there will be people who aren't happy with them.
This is what myself and MadMonkey were saying, the fellowships right now seem to be a little out of control and not at all organised.
We DO need a few rules, or guidelines for us to follow and we'd like everyones idea's on what these should be.
We initially thought it might be a good idea to restrict the number of fellowships a person should be in, but the general feeling on that one seems to be a big 'no'! I can see why, nobody likes to be told they can't do something, especially when some are in several fellowships already and managing very well.
There are also a few concerns about having large teams, and the players not getting to play for the team because of the large numbers. We need ideas what to do about this.
What we'd really like is for people to come on here and give some sound suggestions, then we can put them all together and say to Fencer "this is what we'd all like to see for the future of fellowships, what do you think?"
Or... we could just leave well enough alone and see if it works itself out! LOL!
It never occurred to me you were arguing! I'm not either! :o) Same as you, just trying to get my opinions down in a way people understand.. including myself!!
Most of what you're saying about large teams is down to the captains to make sure nobody is left out, maybe a rotating team, 6 play one fellowship and another 6 play a different one? I'm not sure how that would work out either. And these are the kinds of things MadMonkey and myself feel need to be sorted before the inter-fellowship tourneys start. If we just left it to work itself out there could be one huge mess 12 months from now and no way of sorting it out!
Maybe you're right that limited fellowship numbers would not stop the problem. If you're happy to be in quite a few fellowships and you can keep up with them all then I guess others can too. But not everyone is as self-controlled or organised!! I suppose it depends on how many people can keep track of all their fellowships and how many let it get out of control.
LovelySharon, what we're concerned about is people spreading themselves too thin across numerous fellowships. Its not good for the player, the team, and especially the captain if their team players are not aware of games because they haven't visited that particular fellowship for a while. Quality over quantity and all that, we're just pointing out that its not necessarily a good thing that people can join every fellowship there is!
No, you're not, I'm getting confused myself!! LOL! :o)
Nobody will be forced into joining a team, or playing in a tournament that they dont want to play in. I'll get that clear now. And if a big boss demands players do this then he/she wont have many players for long!
What we were saying is that some people join loads of fellowships than never go back. One way of resolving this (maybe in hindsight it wasn't such a good idea, it was just kicking different suggestions around, seeing how they sounded) is to ask each member to join at least one team there. We all have lots of members and very few are in the teams.
Thats exactly what we're trying to say, to be in all the fellowships, and different teams in each one would be confusing. Nobody is going to force you to join teams.
I guess thats a matter of choice for the boss! I emphasise fun at my fellowship, if you enjoy the game thats all that matters. Sure its nice to win but if you have had fun then you've won in that way!
What myself and MadMonkey were really wanting was ideas about the future of fellowships, what needs to be changed (if anything) in order for them to run efficiently.
Dream, for those who want separate discussion boards for each game.. depending on how many games they want to play.. wouldn't it be better/easier to have a different fellowsip for each game? That way you'd have a discussion board for each one. Would that work?
Morning! I've just finished reading all the comments and thought I'd try to summarise what the general feeling is? (Help me here, MadMonkey?!)
Most people don't see the need to restrict how many fellowships a person can join. I think it was Dream that gave the good idea that the Bosses should be restricting membership to those who play in the teams. Thats worth considering. Rather than restrict the players, the Bosses should get tougher? Ask players to join a team or leave?
A few features seem to need changing too. People not knowing what fellowships are about.
When I have sent invites there is no option to include a note saying what they are about. I have had to wait until the person asks, and I hope I have replied fully there. But maybe if we had a set message to send with invites? It would help the person invited and save us from typing it all out every time someone asks what its all about!
I think BBW is right about there being too many message boards already. I have 5 or 6 on my favourites board, then try to read the rest through the day. But others dont have as much spare time as me!! And I can't always keep up with them all sometimes! (then again, if I wasn't in as many fellowships I wouldn't have as many boards to read! LOL)
I also like the idea of pawns being allowed to join one fellowship... although if they were allowed to join one then why would they need to buy membership?! They would have use of most of this sites best features, even if they are limited. One tournament, one fellowship and 20 games each. Thats more than enough for some!
How about a kind of 'hit count' to see which members never visit the fellowship? So we know who is active there and who isn't? I've had members that I thought never came to the fellowship at all, and they tell me they've been there every day!! I have no way of knowing who is taking note of whats happening there and who isn't.
It just feels right now like all the fellowships are in a jumble and need sorting out!! It will be interesting to read more comments about this. If we pull together and get our ideas and needs sorted out these fellowships could be even more brilliant than they are now!
Dmitri, thank you for your response and its nice to know the first person to reply agrees with us!
However, we're not asking for total loyalty to just one fellowship, we understand (and are in the same position ourselves) that people have friends in other fellowships and enjoy being there, taking part in the discussions etc.
We're just asking for a restriction on the number of fellowships a person can be in, for the long-term benefit of everyone.
This is a joint message between Myself and MadMonkey.
We have been discussing the future of fellowships here and have come to the conclusion that some minor changes may need to be implemented for the fellowships to work properly.
Right now BK members (knights & above) can be in as many fellowships as they wish and we have all taken full advantage of that. We have joined our friends fellowships and created our own as well.
But we can see there being some problems once the tournaments between fellowships begin.
Many of us are in more than one fellowship, and more than one team within different fellowships. Once the tournaments start this could (most likely would) cause confusion & even arguements.
We do not wish to restrict members to just one fellowship, however, we do not see how it could continue to work having members spread very thinly between all the fellowships we have now & those that will be created as the site carries on growing.
We ourselves are in the same position of being members of several fellowships, and we know it is impossible to keep up with each fellowships news, activities... and some don't members even seem to use them once they have joined.
Many of us join just because they are friends who run the fellowships & our friends are members of certain ones.
We feel that some restrictions would be good for everyone before it gets to the Inter-fellowship Tournys etc....
Just a few so far that we have thought of, for example setting a limit to the amount of fellowships one member can join also Big Boses & Managers must play for the fellowship they are in, although they can of course still be members of other fellowships and join in on the discussion boards and internal tournaments of those.
This is totally open for discussion and all ideas are welcome.
Thank you
MadMonkey & Harley
PS. Would the Big Bosses who read this like to copy this message and post it on their fellowship boards? Just to get some feedback on what their members think?
I agree Eddie, theres nothing to say if these tourneys have started or finished, I keep having to go into them to make sure I started them!! Just a note next to them would suit me!!
When are the captains going to be allowed to start the tournaments themselves? Right now they have little to do, and it seems only right the captains get this job! :o)
