I work 12 hours days and spend my free time at work playing on here so it's no biggy for me play for 2.5 to 3 hours a day on here. I know everyone is different but the point I'm trying to make is that this is a turned based site. If you want really fast games, plat OTB at yahoo or MSN.
LMAO, I get trashed more than I do the thrashing :O Most games I play to be playing them, because I like them, not because I'm good at them. There's only two games I take my time in and that's chess and corner chess, I try to only have 40 or 50 chess games going at once, everything else I'll play as many as possible. Example, Line 4. It only takes about 30 seconds to 1 min MAX to study the board and make a move, where as in chess, I spend at least 5 mins on each game.
or how about the people with paid memberships just don't worry about it because you can play as many games as you want to so it dosn't matter long long it takes someone to move.
yea we have that, just let pawns and knights play. I personlly just got under 200 games and that's very low for me. After I get most of my chess games completed I'll go back up to 300 of so becuase games like spider line 4 or backgammon I'll get online with someone and complete the whole game in under an hour. Heck in one tournament the other day, half the games where completed in less than 2 hours after it started.
Kinda makes sense. I personally move as many times as possible in games like backgammon or checkers, but because of the amount of time involved in chess or corner chess, I may only make 15 or 20 moves in these games per day.
Look does it really matter??? Fencer already said NO and that's that. Just freak'n drop the subject. I'm sick of seeing the same crap every 2 months about the same subject. It's like that dang battery bunny, it just keeps going & going & going. Isn't it time to stop???
I use my personal laptop at work and my personal desktop at home, unless you can crack my password after you knock me out and take my PC, I'm not worried about it. And in that case, someone accessing BK would be the last worry I would have anyway...
The problem I run into is that I play mostly at work. I'll be on for 5 or 10 mins then get busy for an hour and come back. I don't want to have to log in 30 times a day, that will get real annoying real quick. Most sites have an option that you can select to auto-login or to enter your password on every login. I think this makes much more sense that just making everyone login EVERY time the access the site. I mean we arn't doing our banking on here, it's a freak'n game site...
I don't think that is enough because it's very easy, with alittle html, to make any tournament bold. look at the tournament page and find THIS IS A TEST. it's in bold, but i'm not offering a prize. I think the prize tournaments jsut need more pop lol.
well there's not many prize tournaments and 99.9% of them are donating memberships which help support the site, so why shouldn't they be given more glitz??? If I'm spending my money, that I don't even have to, to help out the site, why shouldn't the site give something back?
I would like to see prize tournaments posted in a different way. Like mabye keep them at the top of the page. Or have only the prize tournaments cycle on the main page instead of all the tournaments.
well I'm not one of them lol. I havn't yet managed to beat the top people on this site. I have a 2100+ rating but I never claimed to be a "great" chess player, I just play to have fun.
I play two different ways. For my 200+ non-chess games, I play as fast as I can for an hour or so till they are all done. Then I start on my chess games. Those I spend about 5 mins a piece on.

What about this: It would be a complete pointless waste of my time to program it, if I want to use your expression.
Shortly - I don't want to do it. Kevin already pointed out all my reasons.

The other reason (besides the inability to chat between moves) was that the board can change substantially in one move (for example, in reversi (or even backgammon)) that it could be even more confusing to new players who maybe just learned the rules. It could (and likely would) also cause many many many complains / comments regarding "My opponent is cheating." or "This game doesn't look right." or "Why did my opponent get to move more than once?" or something like that.
#2. It's Fencers site.
#3. When in doubt, refer to rule #2.
Look I agree that it is a needed feature, but I don't run this site. If Fencer says that how he wants it then so be it. I like the other features enough that I'll continue to be a paying member here. If you don't like the way the site is ran, then don't let the door hit you in a** on the way out.
LJ, I've never said anything too you until now. But reading your post all over the place, I feel I must now. You are the most pessimistic, negative, gloomy, distrustful, cynical, unenthusiastic person I've ever seen on here. Ever heard that saying "If you don't have anything good to say, just don't say anything"??? Well you should just leave it alone. I know this post is off-topic. LJ if you wish to reply to what I have said, please do so in the Boiler Room.
I just had a thought. I live in Miami and we have these little freak weather thingys call hurricanes. Now What if one were to knock out my power for a couple of days? How many of my games would time out? Is there a way to stop this???
What if Fencer added a feature that if a game gets down to say, 5 mins before a timeout, it would use a vaction day automaticly? The feature could be turned on or off in our settings. How hard would it be to implament this? If they tell us to get out of town, the last thing on my mind would be my games :)
It would be very easy to create a webpage and just put links on there. there are many sites such as freewebs.com etc that you can create a site for free.
I know this has been brought up before but I would like to see some ladder tournaments for games like backgammon, chess, etc. How hard would that be to do?
