joshi tm: you all are right at some point. Playing bridge online on a turn based site could be a little bit hard but not impossible. You know it is almost done when you finish bids. You know your partner hand and you can guess the opponents' ones. Remembering cards is important for atmost one or two tricks. Anyhow, thanks for your interest. good to hear bridge lovers :)

ngsinan: AbigailII is right here. Bridge is a super game, but you have to take lots of notes to play, which is not good for gaming experience.

4 Player games are great to implement here at BK, Something like Ataxx 4, Halma 4, Dice Poker 4(or even more!) or Ludo 4 where board position matters only, is good to implement at a Turn Based Game Website.

Temo: Re: would you like to play bridge?
ngsinan: Well, I like to play bridge, but I don't think I like to play bridge on a turn based site. Games on a turn based site should be those games where the current state gives you all the information necessary to play well. For chess for instance, only the current position matters, not how the position was reached (ok, except for the fact whether you are still allowed to castle, and for the 50 moves rule - but the latter hasn't been implemented). For bridge, it's different. By the time you get to play your 10th card, you might be six weeks away from playing the first card - well, then I won't remember whether you played the Jack or not. Besides, it would suck to be the dummy.

Furthermore, there are no 4 player games implemented here anyway.

i liked to play backgommon, reversi or go in this site. However, have you ever thought to add bridge in the game list? I would be grateful if i had a change to play bridge with you, nice people :)

Given the cultural differences around the world, King Reza's request just might be a good one. Although that broken toothed smily leads me to believe he actualy has a pretty good sense of humor.

Now this is the "Feature" Requests board, not the comment board. How about we get back on subject?

joshi tm: I had to stop playing Ice Age Chess - since it is impossible to know when the 20th move is when you have notations turned off. Still have a request to put some sort of notice above the board (like gammon cube stats) to show what move you are on and/or how many more moves for an ice age.

This page contains a list of all defined tournaments. You can either browse running tournaments or join a new tournament waiting for players.

How about an extra link: Show only tournaments where I'm signed up?

Temo: Placing pieces on boards
In Logik, when you click on a color, you can place it multiple times on the board until you click on another one.
Can the boards for Espionage / Chess / Battleboats work in a similar way? There are 5 Sappers, 8 Pawns, etc to place on the board. If we didn't have to keep selecting them it would be much faster to place the pieces on the board...
How about: as long as a similar piece is available to be placed, the selection will remain on that type.

Temo: auto-pass
How about this for an idea.

Lets say a game is sent to you where you have to pass, have a prompt that says "Do you want to continue to pass until you can make a move?" yes/no

If you choose yes - it will continue to pass until you have a move to make. If you say no, the game will come back to you the next move.

If the player says yes, then have a small note go along with the game to the opponent which says "Your opponent choose to automatically pass his moves until he has a move to make. So any messages you write them may not be read until they have a move to make." That way the opponent knows the message isn't being read AND it gives each user the CHOICE to use or not use autopass.

joshi tm: Actually, I don't think it should be turned on by default. New users may become confused when all of a sudden a game gets passed back to them with a completely different configuration and don't know what's going on.

What I do think is that AutoPass should be a one side feature. If I want to automatically pass when it's my turn, the system should do so, weather my opponent chooses the same setting or not. Weather I pass or AutoPass has absolutely no impact on how my opponent plays the game on his/her side.

Is it possible to enter a 'tournaments entered' column on the finshed games page next to the 'tournaments won' (WT) column?

It would be nice to see what games a player enters tournies into as well as how often they win when they enter!

Did you know that if you place your mouse over the flag, it will tell you the name of the country and the number of players on the site that display that flag?

Also, if you click on the flag, it will open up a new windwon with the list of players from that country, along with the name of the country.

Hi all....love this site and I love meeting people from around the world...would it be possible to have a page where you can see all the flags and the name of the country beside it ....it would limit asking each person in game chat each time you dont recognize their flag ...I only ask because some get offended if I dont know their flag...so maybe we can avoid this ty ..looking forward to your response

Temo: Top position without playing?
Modifita de CryingLoser (25. Aprilo 2007, 23:08:29)
In Chess there is a new name in top position (kpaba), have invited her but she has declined. It's OK that everybody can invite and decline whenever he wants, but the case that a player takes the top position from another without playing with him needs IMHO an exception. In this case the former one should have a right to play with the new one for the top position, and a declination of the new one to play should be regarded as resigning the game.
(Of course, not only for Chess, but for all games).

joshi tm: Nice idea. Unfortunally, the majority of the games I play are against people who aren't new, and don't have autopass turned on.

Now, I can't prove it, but I think most of them don't have autopass turned on because they either don't know about it, or don't care (and then won't take the trouble to turn it on).

Oh well. I recently played my first game where autopass was actually used. (And I now have a couple of games that drag on because I have a pass and I'm not passing until the game is about to time out - if my opponent doesn't want autopass, he'll just have to live with loooooooooooooooong games)
