Temo: Private torunaments pm's
Would it be possible to put a link at the bottom of private tournament pages (at least for the creator) to send a pm to everyone in the tournament? Sort of like the link that f/s Big Bosses use to send to everyone in their f/s. It would just be handy to announce the winner of the tournament and thank everybody for particpating.

Temo: Preview/spell check
I know that game improvements take precedence over discussion improvements (whether it be pm, game discussion or discussion boards), but would it be possible to put a "preview" feature in conjunction with a spell check feature?

Temo: Game screen setup
I know that we can eliminate the menus on the left in our game screen setup, but could we also have an option to eliminate all the game stats information if we don't want to see it?

Temo: Could we have a confirm dialogue, please
When a moderator makes a change to a discussion board (particularly a deletion), it would be helpful to have a confirmation question ("Are you sure you want to delete this nice person's post?" or some other such question). I just accidentally deleted a post and pm'ed the recipient of my error so they could repost.

Fencer: As Mel Brooks said, "It's good to be the king." lol

This should prove to be an interesting discussion - about limiting discussion. The mere fact that you are saying you will have a discussion is quite refreshing. I have come from a site where sometimes things just are "done" without discussion. Even if you don't agree with some on the site, it is nice that you are willing to discuss it.

Hrqls: I am not sure what they hide. Once again, it depends on how you handle the threads. You can leave it so that the Tree is always open. Then you can use your glance - if you want. It makes it easier to glance by a whole thread if you are unconcerned about regional flags, but are looking for a thread about new games for example.

Thad, Summertop and Fencer: What we seem to be talking about is the "Tree" approach to db's. I really like that approach and think it would be beneficial. It would seem you have options in dealing with new posts in existing "threads" or "branches:"

1. Expand all threads or "Open tree" so that you can see subject lines within a thread; or
2. Leave the tree closed so that you can only see the main subject line and put a counter next to the thread showing the number of new posts (similar to the counter currently next to any db which you have not opened and the like); or
3. Open only those posts on a db that are new.

In the end, one of the prob's that I see with the current system is that if there are more new posts than you can open (in my case more than 100), you will never know which are new posts beyond the first 100 because once you go into a db, it triggers that nothing is new. Therefore, when I go into the second page of a db, I never know how many of the posts are new posts.

In the end though Fencer, as one of my dear friends has said to me recently, when you are working on the game improvements, you are working on far more important things than DB upgrades. So, just because I am engaging in this discussion doesn't mean that I consider this my dearest want - I love it when you give us new games.

In that regard, I am with Kevin when he asks for Trax and its variants.

Also, I agree with Brian on the FAQ issue. It would be a great idea to use that for "resolved" issues. Sometimes, new members - like me - do not know which issues have been resolved.

Brian1971: I didn't know that your issue was the autopass feature. I was just using it as a recent example becuase it is perfect given Cariad's most recent response below:

Duw, I get the short straw!
Ok, gentleman and Stevie [] , the autopass issue has been flogged to death and now you've given Fencer more food for thought and told him you're not giving up on the idea.
Your point has been made and Fencer has, I'm certain, read your posts so please drop the subject from this board... for a few weeks at least!

I don't think that answers your question, but instead it says the management is reviewing each of the new arguments and may change position on it.

As for your discussion of the management, I would not be here if I had not been treated in a very poor manner recently by another site's current management. At least this site lets there be a discussion of issues. Apparently given my recent experience elsewhere, sometimes that is all you can hope for.

That said, I love so many of the features here - I can't tell you how great I think this place is. To be able to start a tourney and have almost no work - to not have to fill out wiki's, not have to arrange players. It's incredible. So, kudos to the management here.

I would quit editing my posts if I could learn to spell "the" the first time...jeez - how bout a spell check to help us ignorant folks?

Brian1971: Ouch.

I understand what are you trying to say and although I don't agreee with your direct sentiment, I think it is a fair statement to say that a two-way give-and-take needs to be addressed on this board.

First, if a basic idea has already been addressed and rejected (auto pass, for example), it may be a good idea to develop a faq for this board. That way, if someone unknowingly opens a can of worms, the moderators can just refer it to the faq and if something substantively new or different from the faq is addressed by the comment, it should be welcome. In other words, in the faq, an option can be addressed as a question ("What about autopass?"), the answer can be filled with arguments for and against and the final resolution. If someone comes up with a new argument, it should be allowed and responded to.

Likewise, if someone just wants to rehash old arguments, they can be referred to the faq.

In the faq, you can even address improvements that you are working on.

Timely responses are important on this board, but in the limited time that I have been here, I have seen many things responded to. I don't know why some things don't get directly responded to, but I feel like they will in good time (maybe I am just being naive, after all, I am new here ).

Temo: Re: Game times
Jason: I did not find a work around to the weekend issue. Changing the days will still leave me with the need to check on Saturdays which simply isn't always workable for my schedule.

The best workaround would be a simple 12 hour adjustment to weekend settings. This would allow those west of the server time for their day to catch up to the server. Now, I don't mean to exclude those east of the server, but instead they probably would need an adjustment at teh beginning of the weekend. They probably fall into Saturday (or whatever their weekend setting is) prior to the server.

grenv: I have not set the autovacation on. However, that will be my temporary workaround. I hate to do that because I would rather control my vacation days.

Modifita de whatdidyousay (28. Decembro 2004, 19:52:14)
I originally posted this on Bug Tracker, but Fencer has told me that it is not a bug - so, I will bring it here as a feature request. Although I can set my viewing of the webpage to reflect my time zone, the game times - including weekends and holidays - is set to the server time. In other words, there is no link between the game time and my time zone. This is a problem for me because the server is 7 hours ahead of me. This means that it is Monday for the server at 5:01 pm Sunday for me.

With that preface would it be possible to add 12 hours to the weekend time to allow those of us not in or near the server's time zone to catch up after weekends, please?

In the alternative or the interim, it would be helpful to alert novice players like myself on the faq or someplace else to this design. I was quite disappointed when I had several games expire on me Sunday night when I had my weekend settings on for Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you.
