Eriisa: I picked up a dvd by this band without any prior knowledge of what they would sound like.I just got a vibe that they would be good,I was wrong, they're great. The opening of this song brought to mind "Already Gone" by The Eagles, enjoy
awesome: Damn I love The Cat,what a musical genius.Creativity can be so unpredictable. We caught years of special music, but now he's focused it in another direction.I guess we should just be grateful for the great music he gave us in that period. I lost my dad 5 years back, this song always brings a tear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jek6iP6AuAQ
awesome: I'm there man.I heard about it from a Rolling Stone article about 6 months ago.Apparently there are some legal issues originating from Bob Weir of The Dead.I guess Bob is a little short on cash these days It's a killer site
TexasToest: Hey you! I forgot the name of that blues group you had posted here awhile back. They were brothers I think.I think "boys" was part of the name,I wanted to check out some more of their stuff
Nirvana: I wondered why there was so many versions of Melanie singing Ruby Tuesday on utube. Was it a big hit for her? Brand New Key was poison to her career in her opinion,it was overplayed and gave peope the impression she was a novelty act.
baddessi: I checked out your cousin's music, she's good.I hope she doesn't have to pay royalties for the creative chorus in the Highway song. Here is one of the most talented and sadly ignored folk singers of the last 40 years, this song still gives me chills
TexasToest: I constantly try and maintain an objective point of view when it comes to different styles of music. It's so easy to label certain music as "crap" but I try and remember that it's an art form and regardless of it being pleasing to my ear it might be pleasing to others. In other words, there is no "bad" music, just different.I can appreciate those who are schooled in the finer points, but I was a self taught player and I think that also allows us to be less strict in what we can do,thus more creative at times.
TexasToest: Happy B-day Odetta.......Going with the theme,I just invested a tidy sum in purchasing the complete Midnight Special DVD collection.I watched that show every friday night,it's about time it was released.
Any Zydeco fans? I remember a great band called Lucky 7,they turned me onto the music. If you can find the cd Feed The Snake you'll understand how good they were.
TexasToest: My thoughts are that "The Chicks" are trying to broaden their audience for survival purposes. They have undergone quite the image change from the looks of it.I do think they might have pushed the "victim" envelope a tad far though.Sleep well
TexasToest: Interesting points. The list is long of artists who's best work was done prior to cleaning up,no matter what they say.I could probably spend hours discussing this topic.
Temo: Re: I've been off saving the world, how am I doin?
TexasToest: Rob is a scoring player isn't he.I thought I had found a gem on utube of Stevie Ray and Jeff Healy dueling, but it has been removed and Roy Buchannon is nowhere to be found.I finally found a cd by a band I saw(and loved) open for Bob Seeger back in the 70's,anyone ever heard of Toby Beau? it took forever to replace that album
Tuesday: I'm not sure about "takin care of business" being done spontaneously, but I am aware that "American Woman" started as a riff that was being played by Bachman as Burton came to the stage improvising the opening lyrics.
baddessi: Bachman left The Guess Who when he got tired of Burton Cummings drinkin and drugin. He went on to form Brave Belt and later BTO.There was bad blood between the two(and many lawsuits)until recently. They reformed The Guess Who about 5 years ago and tour off and on.Bachman also tours with a version of BTO as well as solo.
awesome: I still kick myself that I missed them opening for 3 dog night.I became a big collector of T.REX around the time of Marc's death. They were so unappreciated in North America,SLIDER is still one of the best R n R albums ever made.
