Somehow I installed this download manager or whatever it is. I thinik it was bundled with another software (maybe ccleaner). Apparently Ilivid has a good reputation with some reputable sites because from what I've read just today, it has a 5 star rating from download.com.
But for the past month I've had horrible problems with a very slow computer. Very slow. It got so bad that I thought it was just the browser I used so I switched back to Firefox. Same problem with Firefox but with one exception: I could not designate a homepage of my own. It kept defaulting back to some searchqu.com. So after a little investigating, one suggestion to "clean up" my computer was to go to C:\Program Files\Windows iLivid Toolbar\Datamngr\ToolBar and delete the program. Other suggestions were to download this or that malware scanner (which I did) but nothing was detected. I didn't even know I had Ilivid installed on my computer. I went to the directory as suggested and found the program with an uninstall feature. I uninstalled it (I couldn't do an uninstall via Windows Control Panel because the program didn't show up in the list) and immediately after the uninstall my computer is 5+ times faster. I can't believe the change. Has anyone else had this experience with Ilivid?
Just tried to sell me an extended warranty for 219.00. That's for one year and that's a discounted price. Usually it's over 300. Mind you I only paid 450 for the computer to begin with.
toedder: A friend had Ubuntu installed and I couldn't get it to work for him. Now when I install the disk (actually I chose the "try" option, the first thing I get is an error message "Analog Input Cannot display this video mode"
I can see the different pull down menus but if I chose something, nothing happens and the background flickers. It's not an old computer (within 5 years) and runs XP fine. I suppose I have to play with the bios settings or something else over my head?
Temo: Re: Your best bet is to either dedicate a partition to shared data and format that in FAT (or NTFS, which will need a little tinkering, but nothing too hard
toedder: I currently have 91 gigs to play with. :)
toedder: ok, so far so good. Have burned the image file and tested it. Works. I need about 4.4 gigs (as per instructions on the disk) and have that and plenty. Installing alongside Windows for the moment. Then we'll see. What can possibly go wrong?
Temo: Re: can anyone help with this? elieoop is having this problem
wetware: That's what I thought too. The problem is with ellieoop's computer. I'm just helping her by posting the question. I'm clueless how it could be happening. Plus, she tells me it's happening on more than one computer. Maybe I can get her to post a screen shot? Would that help?

in back and nack i cannot see the black checker when there's only one checker on a point and it's on the opposite side. it;s harder to see against the red and purple backgrouds. i tried all the other backrounds, it doesn't change the bd. colors. i changed from font to castle and simple. i have real good eyesite and no problem when it on my side and i have made the bd larger and smaller.. what about graphics, can we change that and would that help? i have no problem with any other games.
I have been having NOTHING but trouble with slow slow slow Brainking. My browser would always say "waiting for Brainking" so naturally I thought it was just here. But, I started to notice that other sites were running as slowly. So, I used my guest account on this computer thinking it was all the stuff that loads on my main account. Nope, still ran badly. Sooooo I switched to Google Chrome just for fun. And guess what? Everything is faster than lightening. So I guess it is in my FireFox browser. What could cause it to run so slowly? Is it that script checker??? It's way too annoying. I can go from page to page now at the click and load time is in a blink. ;)
MadMonkey: Wish I had a quarter for everytime I did that I keep wondering: If Microsoft puts out such an inferrior product, how come more aren't flocking to Apple? What can a PC do that a Mac can't?
wetware: Am currently using Avira. I've read good reviews on it but have also read good reviews on Avast. I am considering buying the pro version of the one I like the best.
rod03801: I've had that problem show up a few times too. For some reason the dancing banana stops alot. The others may be working but in the same message that one doens't. A ctrlf5 seems to fix the problem.
It doesn't sound like I virus. It sounds like you've had a program installed onto your computer. How long have you had the computer and do you have a restore point on your computer? If you do, you could restore it to an earlier date and see if that helps.
At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated "If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving twenty-five dollar cars that got 1000 mi/gal."
Recently General Motors addressed this comment by releasing the statement: "Yes, but would you want your car to crash twice a day?"
Not only that, but....
Every time they repainted the lines on the road you would have to buy a new car.
Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason, and you would just accept this, restart and drive on.
Occasionally, executing a maneuver would cause your car to stop and fail and you would have to re-install the engine. For some strange reason, you would accept this too.
You could only have one person in the car at a time, unless you bought "Car95" or "CarNT". But, then you would have to buy more seats.
Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast, twice as easy to drive, but would only run on five percent of the roads.
The Macintosh car owners would get expensive Microsoft upgrades to their cars, which would make their cars run much slower.
The oil, gas and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single "general car default" warning light.
New seats would force everyone to have the same size butt.
The airbag system would say "are you sure?" before going off.
If you were involved in a crash, you would have no idea what happened.
I think it's a DivX problem. from the second site:

This is a super simple fix. I just went through the same problem. all you have to do is download the divx codec. go to divx.com and download the divx codec. its free and will allow you to work. good luck guys
and
I downloaded DivX (free version) and installed it after experiencing the no video problem with .avi files and it solved it.
