i have a question. in playing this game #592123, it said i made a move at 6:05 am. thats when the tournament started (my time zone EST) but, i was asleep then, i didnt make the move.. that move couldnt have been automatic, could it?
harley: actually i can't because the discussion started as fast / slow games from all types, not just chess games.
But I'll refrain from posting more on the subject.
Actually capturing the King requires a turn to do so the two quick games listed are probably the fastest games you could play. Atomic Chess might have a faster game possible, I'll have to think about it unless someone knows already. Seems like three moves would be it in that game too.
You have me curious what the average length of games is. Backgammon is a fairly constant 18 to 30 moves. Dark Chess has quite an extreme range, but I'd guess the average for games played until the King is actually captured to be about 25 moves. I suppose I could just add up my wins and losses moves per game and figure an average that way. The number on the profile isn't always the right number though and you'd have to look for games that end in resignations. Or maybe not, since resigning is part of the game it could be part of a complete average.
Latelly it happens to me to have notification of new messages on boards and when I go and check them out it just shows me messages I had already read.
For instance, as I'm writing this, Szirak's message has a "New!" symbol on it even though I had read it before. But when I read it the first time harley's and Szirak's previous messages were marked new as well and now it's just this last one so it can't be a cache issue.
This has been happening ever since new year and I think (but not sure) it has something to do with the fact that the messages in question were posted just about the time I was reading them.
The first time I just thought it was a fluke, with me having hit the board at almost the exact same time of the post. But it's happened 6 or 7 times in the last few days so now I start to think it's just too much of a coincidence...
Are you still doing experiences with time-travel Fencer? ;)
Thanks harley, the size requirements baffled me into thinking there was a greater difference, along with the fact that I really did think BC was a koala! :-)
This is ridiculous, that someone can be kicked off this site, yet somehow get to use auto vacation days to cover their absense?
I know it doesnt seem like a hastle, but I had just started 20 games with them, and it is a long scroll down the page, plus what about if I was a pawn or had an account with a game limit, I would be screwed waiting for theses games to finally be removed from my homepage.
Fencer: Or is it you are mad at me for readdressing the Autopass debate that you are noticably silent on. Of course you could have easily went down a couple of posts and replied to my original post with the Ponds question. However you intentionally snubbed me in my humble opinion.
Interesting that I brought up the question but Fencer addresses the answer to Big Bad Wolf. I suppose if no one else would have responded I would not have had the question answered at all.
I ask this question BBW as the first one did not count against the game limit total. However I have 36 games total between started games and waiting games, plus a tournament starting today and I am awaiting the next round of a tournament I advanced in. So I will snuggle up close to 50 games with all the games starting. I just wanted to know how the Ponds games would be counted.
