Now and again my screen freezes as well, like you said for a matter of seconds, sometimes there is no reason for it, it could be your ISP just slowing down and then kicking itself back in again. Sometimes it can be traffic, but primarily, it could be your ISP, have you tried clearing your cache, history, try defragmenting as well and running the programming for clearing up disk space as well, every little helps. I also found out that my daughter and been running a programme in the background, so when i connected to the internet, the programme would start up and i didnt have a clue what it was until she told me.
