Aganju: Interesting point. I surf a lot. But my computer also has accounts (with awesome Parental Controls) for my kids. It handles my music and photos automatically. I use it to edit video. Stuff syncs with my iPad and with my iPhone, and my wife's iPhone... I never have to mess with network settings, and best of all, the same company that makes the hardware and makes the operating system.
Thad: Thad, I used to think and speak like that. But - look out in the real world - what percentage of your computer time do you spend in your browser, be it Firefox/Chrome/Whashammacallit? And it happens to look much the same in both machines.... So where's the real difference? Two years from now, people will not even remember that there are operating systems under their browsers.
('which BIOS do you run? I have that cool new update from Phoenix, it is sooo much better than xxx')
Marshmud: I know. It was a joke. I love Macs and think PCs are horrid. People who think PCs are better than Macs are... well, this is supposed to be a friendly forum, right? ;-)
Deb4858: You can't delete IE really. Although Microsoft lost that law suit (where they were accused of having it irremovable bound to windows), it is still not worth the trouble. What I did (and I recommend) is to remove the IE icons from the desktop and quick start line, etc., and change teh setting for WINDOWS+I to start Chrome instead. That way, if you ever really need it, you can still start it from the hard disk, but otherwise it does not take any space away on your screen (hurting your eyes and such).
Unfortunately, there are still some pages out there which do only work with IE, and although I try to hold them in contempt, some of them are a necessity (let's just say I get paid well to use them)
Deb4858: If you are on a Microsoft controlled computer you CAN, of course delete IE. However, some side effects may be expected. All your word documents, for example, are likely to develop warts. The desktop clock will probably display the Muslim calendar, but be off by 34 days. Image files will all display a small gremlin on the lower right corner. Typing "www" anywhere in a text zone will make the loudspeaker play Oh Susanna in an infinite loop and all the attempts to modify the volume will be met with contempt.
Deb4858: Nothing to do with "In Private Browsing", which is called "Incognito" in Chrome.
If you want to copy your favourites from IE to Chrome, click on the spanner at the top right hand side, select Bookmarks, then Import Bookmarks and Settings.
The Col: If you are just worried until next saturday you have nothing to worry about. The time on your "no days off" games is between 9 and 15 days where you must move again as of now.
The Col: I see no games that will time out by next saturday. even your "no days off" red dot games seem ok. Just make sure you have enough "bonus time" in your red dot (no days off) tournys. Your auto vacation will take care of your regular games.
Is there any way to allow the Japanese Chess Team Tournament to start.
I know we only have 3 teams, but it would be nice to play, especially as it is a more select type game. I have messaged a couple of Captains, but no one wants to join in.
p.s. Can someone create some more Team tournaments please
Aganju: I believe the brain system is disabled and you can not purchase them. The members who have them currently are players who purchased brains in the past or won prize tournaments that offered brains as a prize.
Can someone explain to me a bit more how to get Brains? On the site http://brainking.com/en/Brains, it says: "20 Brains for free - it can be a good start for everyone. By completing a simple process of easy tasks, you will be awarded with 20 Brains and you can start to explore all other possibilities with no actual investment. Please visit this page for details."
But the page it links to only says I can buy a membership for someone else to get brains. Although that might be 'a simple process of easy tasks', I wouldn't call it 'no actual investment'. So it doesn't fit together.
The wording sounds to me like there is another way to get your first brains, and the link got lost or changed. I could not find anything. I also did not get any brains for buying my own membership. So it looks like instead of buying a membership, I should have better donated one and got brains for it? Am I missing something???
skyw7: It's been a long time since I played go for the last time, so I am no longer sure how to determine dead stones. Please send me the game ID and coordinates of opponent's dead stones.
