Czuch: I spend my money when I want to. I just bought my wife a new computer (lap top) and we just purchased round trip flights to Arizona. Car rental too. So that will put some bucks back into the economy. So I've more than spent that money but on my terms and not on the governments. I never buy something just cuz I have the money (the government could learn from that). You should see the truck I drive. I could buy a new one outright but why? Better off in the bank. I say good for me and bernice! ;)
Whey did they do that? The US did something similar. We got 1200 dollars from the knucklehead government. They wanted to stimulate the economy. I put it in the bank for a rainy day.
I had heard that a lot of people hadnt spent their money like the government had hoped.... I personally went straight to sears and bought a new lawn mower and refrigerator!!
I dont know what people get from holding on to their money, really??? Its meant to stimulate the economy, and its money you didnt have before anyway, why not help out the economy and spend away???
You say you believe in trickle down economics, yet you horde a government stimulus incentive???
anastasia: that pretty much sums up this stimulus package. It's our money and congress is wasting it. Most news (if not all) agencies agree. It needs serious trimming.
Artful Dodger: I remember...now this was YEARS ago tho..I was maybe 13...my Dad and I were watching the nightly news ( I always had a thing for that, lol) and they were reporting on bad government spending...they reported on the one,it was to study the flow rate of ketchup....to this DAY I wonder why anyone would need,or care to have to spend millions of dollars on that...me and Daddy joked about that up untill he died
Asunto: Pelosi's idea of what should be included in the stimulus package:
• $2 billion earmark to re-start FutureGen, a near-zero emissions coal power plant in Illinois that the Department of Energy defunded last year because it said the project was inefficient. • A $246 million tax break for Hollywood movie producers to buy motion picture film. • $650 million for the digital television converter box coupon program. • $88 million for the Coast Guard to design a new polar icebreaker (arctic ship). • $448 million for constructing the Department of Homeland Security headquarters. • $248 million for furniture at the new Homeland Security headquarters. • $600 million to buy hybrid vehicles for federal employees. • $400 million for the Centers for Disease Control to screen and prevent STD's. • $1.4 billion for rural waste disposal programs. • $125 million for the Washington sewer system. • $150 million for Smithsonian museum facilities. • $1 billion for the 2010 Census, which has a projected cost overrun of $3 billion. • $75 million for "smoking cessation activities." • $200 million for public computer centers at community colleges. • $75 million for salaries of employees at the FBI. • $25 million for tribal alcohol and substance abuse reduction. • $500 million for flood reduction projects on the Mississippi River. • $10 million to inspect canals in urban areas. • $6 billion to turn federal buildings into "green" buildings. • $500 million for state and local fire stations. • $650 million for wildland fire management on forest service lands. • $1.2 billion for "youth activities," including youth summer job programs. • $88 million for renovating the headquarters of the Public Health Service. • $412 million for CDC buildings and property. • $500 million for building and repairing National Institutes of Health facilities in Bethesda, Maryland. • $160 million for "paid volunteers" at the Corporation for National and Community Service. • $5.5 million for "energy efficiency initiatives" at the Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration. • $850 million for Amtrak. • $100 million for reducing the hazard of lead-based paint. • $75 million to construct a "security training" facility for State Department Security officers when they can be trained at existing facilities of other agencies. • $110 million to the Farm Service Agency to upgrade computer systems. • $200 million in funding for the lease of alternative energy vehicles for use on military installations.
Bernice:That is so crazy. Whey did they do that? The US did something similar. We got 1200 dollars from the knucklehead government. They wanted to stimulate the economy. I put it in the bank for a rainy day.
well I sure as hell aint going to spend it........it is the most stupid idea I have ever heard of....there are enough drunks/homeless/druggies as there is without giving them more money to spend on like....it just makes me sick.....mine will go in the bank with the rest of my millions LOLOL
our Govt has just given every man, woman and child $950 each....that is over and above the more than $1000 that pensioners/disabled got before xmas.......how to go broke in a hurry :(
Artful Dodger: as has every other for the past...oh,I dunno...FOREVER...untill we all carpool to Washington and crash the gates and forcefully take back DC..not to much I can do,is there?
Artful Dodger: I've been a C to C addict for over a decade, but since I moved my home is in a radio dead zone.I pick up 640 at about 60% most nights, sometimes not at all
Asunto: Re: Coulter was on a local radio talk show this past morning
Artful Dodger: The comment that surprised me,was the high achievment level of adopted kids.I had never though about it,but in reflection,it makes sense.
Asunto: Re: Coulter was on a local radio talk show this past morning
Jim Dandy:I doubt that. But she did sound like she had written her response.
I can tell you from experience that what that caller said is so very true. I've seen dozens of examples of that sort of thing. Kid has a kid, is irresponsible, and grandparents raise the child. Meanwhile, the "mother" gets all kinds of government assistance. My brother is one of those grandparents. He's been raising two of his grandkids (and he's a step dad). Coulter is spot on with regard to single parents (statistically speaking). There's always exceptions but exceptions don't make the rule. Society would do well to pay attention to the research she cites.
Asunto: Re: Coulter was on a local radio talk show this past morning
Jim Dandy: I listened to the entire interview. She's great and her thesis is right on. And she was very civil too. The caller had a great line about a boil.....
It appears that Obama's approval rating has slipped from somewhere between Messiah and Ghandi down to Mount Rushmore, at this rate he will be considered human by next week and only 6'3'' tall the following week
