MadMonkey:

I have done that - just wish there had been a way to message fencer at the time I made the payment, I used the "paypal donate" button and did not notice a way to message during the process of paying. Might have been there and just did not notice - anything is possible with my brain LOL

Yes, it is marked as a prize tournament - since I am taking part in it, I stipulated what will happen in the unlikely event I win the tournie ;-D

TheONLYPegasus: Did you marked it as a PRIZE Tournament when you set it up ?

When i asked for mine, Fencer said, just goto the Support us page, and donate the ammount that coresponds to the Prize, then let Fencer know

I created? I have a tournie slated to start on December 14, 2007 and am having trouble figuring out how to pay for it and have it become the prize for the tournie. Can anyone help me with figuring this out?

coan.net: Very good point, I never considered that! I like the idea too, I personally would love to play in a random line tourney. In fact, speaking about random line tournies...

ALL L.I.N.E.S. Random Prize Tourney

Feel free to join the fellowship and sign-up for the tourney!

rednaz23: I have thought about that also - but the issue with that is since a fellowship can only have 1 random team, for example if there is an "all game" random tournament, my gammon cube fellowship probable would not get a random team together - but if there is a random gammon site tournament, players may already be another fellowships team. (another example, if there was a random boats tournament & a random gammon tournament - I would have to debate which fellowship team to join - a gammon fellowship or boat fellowship)

Anyway, point being it could be hard for some fellowships to get teams together - that is would be very hard to do more then 1 random tournament in the same "batch" of tournaments.... but spread apart to give time for players to switch fellowship teams - yup, great idea.

Tanien, coan.net, or Fencer: Some different types of random game team tournies could be done. For instance random tournies in: chess, checkers, lines, dice, backgammon, reversi, ships, etc... I think there would be a great demand from some of these fellowships that specialize in those areas. ;-) Hope you consider it!

If I am creating a prize tourney, how do I turn excess brains I have into a knight prize or a rook prize?

I know a knight is worth 300 brains, and I believe a rook is worth 500 brains... but how do I get the brains into the prize, and then allocated to a specific tourney?

Thank you!

coan.net: I use a Gateway with Windows Vista. Is it possible this could be part of the problem? I see that other tournaments are set up with max values other than 20, but I used to be able to set it before there were changes made here that increased the max value to more than 8.

Puckish: Well, when it's tied it goes by S-B points. Basically, the points of the people she beat are added up, and the points of the people you beat are added up. She won against the people who won the most.

Does this seem to make any sense?

We both lost one game, I lost to the highest rated player that i played and they lost to the lowest rated player they played, does it work justly?

coan.net: Well, that's what I thought too, but it isn't working. I set up a tournament and entered 7 for the max value, but when I created it, it showed 20; so I edited it, and got a message that an administrator would have to approve it. Several hours went by, and it wasn't changed, so I edited it again. That was a few days ago, and it is still 20!!?

Frustratin', man!!!!!

Pioneer54: When creating a tournament, you can set it anywhere between 5 and 20.

Taking a look at an already created tournament, I see the option to change it from anywhere between 5 and 20 (even though some changes may or may not need to be approved before they actually take - I can not remember since I've never tried to change an already created tournament.)

Why can't this:

be set (or edited) to less than 20?

Asunto: Re: MOVING
Bullets9mm: The thing is, if you join a tournament with 5 days per move, you have to assume at least a few people are going to frequently take all of that time for each move. 5 days per move really isn't "short". In fact many with that time control will be some of the longest!

If you move that much each day, 1 day per move tournies would probably be great for you.

Sometimes, it can't hurt to send a nice personal message to someone who is taking a long time, and they may actually speed up for you. I know lots of people who have hundreds of games going at once will move on their games in order of time out. They probably aren't INTENTIONALLY trying to hold things up. If they know someone is wishing they would speed up, they may start specifically looking for games of that tourney.

Also, one thing to remember is that if as a Pawn, if you are in a tourney where your own games are completed, and there is no way for you to move on to the next round, you can send a message to Fencer, and he will probably "release" you from that tourney so that you can join another. (and not wait until every player in that round is done playing)

Bullets9mm: It's that "standard vacation" thing, it'll get you every time If I'm able (not yet a pawn myself, that is), when you get thru that one, give me a PM and I'll gladly set up a tournie for you, in your honor, and how you'd like it to be

Asunto: Re: MOVING
Bullets9mm: People play at different rates. Some only make a move every few days, some are on many times a day.

Best thing to do is to try to join games with short time limits. There are many on this site who like to play shorter time limits - while many like longer time limits. Best to try to find games with time limits which best suit your needs.
