Sorry for the late reply, but I just noticed that post :-)
The immediate problem with that game is this: The only reason the maharajah can mate itself is because of the presence of corners. Without corners, that possibility disappears (in other words, the maharajah cannot checkmate on a cylinder) :-)
All that proves is that it is not guaranteed that white will win regardless of what either player does. Of course white could lose the game if they wanted to...?
and you replace the "/game/ArchivedGame?g=253467" with everything in the URL after "brainking.com". That way it works for everyone, whether they are using "brainking.com" or "www.brainking.com" or anything else. For external links, you have to replace it with the entire URL.
And Fencer also said that he doesn't want to create every possible variation, or it would be too hard to tell them apart - such as Dark Janus, Dark Gothic, Dark Maharajah, Dark Horde, Dark Atomic, Atomic Janus, Atomic Gothic, Atomic Horde, Atomic Maharajah, Dark Atomic Janus, Dark Atomic Gothic, Dark Atomic Horde, Dark Atomic Maharajah... (am i missing any?) :-)
And that's just the chess variations! (which, i admit, would be most of them).
I'm pretty sure black would be allowed to move, and white would therefore (hopefully) win by taking the king next move. Considering there's no check or checkmate in dark chess, there is likely no stalemate as well.
Simply go to the tournament page, click on "Loop Chess", and click the link above the currently signed-up players list that says "Sign me up for this tournament". Then you should see your name in that tournament. If there isn't a link and there is a message instead, that means you are ineligible to enter the tournament (membership level, rating, etc) and that message will tell you why.
This has been suggested before, and Fencer does not want to have the system perform any automatic moves. There are two reasons he told me.
1. He wants both players to be able to send a message with each move, regardless of if they move a piece or not.
2. In certain games, multiple forced moves in a row (sometimes many) are possible (Backgammon, reversi, etc). This could be confusing to new players if the board was suddenly way different from when they last saw it.
I think you did win. It's done it to me before where it takes a while for it to realize i've won. So probably (hopefully) if you wait a while it'll realize you have won.
Or, if you don't want to wait, you can message Fencer about it and see what he says.
It is actually white's game, normally. If black leaves an empty column, white can go in with a rook or queen and start at the back taking all black's pawns, with nothing black can do. It is very hard not to eventually leave an open column as black. Try it.
And also, one player could purposely prolong their move if they know their opponent can capture a rook for example, and not play their move until they get that rook.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but what i got from the rules what that you could not leave your king in check (or put your king in check - like normal check, without any pieces exploding). Because i had a game where my king was in normal check, and it would let me move as to leave my king in check. I can find the game # if needed. Thanks.
Anti Chess This rules of this game are the same as for normal Chess (starting position and piece movement) with the following differences:
-There is no check or checkmate.
-Who loses all pieces including the king or cannot make a legal move, wins the game. -Capturing of the opponent's pieces is mandatory. The player can make a move only with a piece that can capture an opponent's piece, and he/she must capture this piece. Only if the player cannot capture any opponent piece, he/she can make a move with any piece.
I have become aware of black's big advantage in this, and have been told that it will be changed. I think that even if you eliminate pawn promotions, there are still really no pieces white can take unless black gives them to white. The idea of having 2 Majarajah's for white wouldn't make a big difference either. Even if both had to be taken for the game to end, black could still force 2 extra queens (if white sacraficed one of their pieces).
I thought it might be a better idea to simply elimiate both of black's rooks. Even then i think black would have an advantage, but it wouldn't be near as big.
I also thought maybe giving white the row of pawns in addition to the maharajah (white has only the maharajah in the back row) it could be more fair.
That's what the rules are for! lol
Basically, when you capture one of your opponent's pieces, it becomes yours and when it's your turn, instead of moving a piece you may place one of these pieces on any empty square. Other than that, just like chess! :-)
