Andersp: such 'holes' are customary and work like with the Bunsen-Burner,
they decrease gas consumption by adding some air to a gas/air mix - you will get
a rather mellow flame without them, or the straight blast with some extra air soaked ... ~*~

here the main provider is 'Neudorff' - could be available internationally.
btw the fishy stuff is practicable indeed. 'pre-rotten' in the garden even
entirely un-smelly - and fishbones grated are not notorious either ... :D ~*~

as rooting hormone - it works amazingly well ...
one ounce is about 5 euros here - equals $6.50 ...

even without frame, no problem - for ventilation, some rough material, stem-fractions and
branches on the ground, then stuff chopped finer - everything covered with a sward blanket,
rain as starter - in years I composted almost everything but black tea leaves, successfully ... ~*~
