Jim Dandy: Some of the more trigger happy ones have been replaced and the current crop doesn't seem to be as egregious. I now moderate or are BB on 8 F/S and I think the old rule is best: He who moderates least moderates best.

Jim Dandy: If Fencer raised the annual price of a Rook by 10% even..two or three times over the next ten years..then the Black Rook would prove to be a good long term investment. I'm not thrilled by his lack of replies etc. but if he were truly money hungry it wouldn't be so hard to buy memberships for my friends. I don't like PayPal, he won't take hardly anything else, no credit cards, no checks and no place to mail cash. If I ran the site I would have 100 ways to pay, in every currancy, I would accept watches and jewlery, stamps, coins, old tv sets and have P.O. Boxes in every major city. He is impatient (or worse) when he thinks things are not his fault and the members are impatient (or worse) when they think it is. When you play on 4 or 5 sites and only BK is having problems it is a hard sell to convince people it is their browsers fault. On Gold Token there were dozens of people with a dozen different complaints all at once and it turned out that there was only one root cause. Perhaps Fencer could dig deeper to see if something like that isn't going on here.

I'm getting a "denied access by publisher of page." Hope this is a temporary glitch not exclusive to me.

When I was a young Naval Officer in the early days of the last century I was in San Diego at the Hotel Cortez where Tinsley the checkers Grand Master put on an amazing display playing 500 games at the same time with oponnents seated in a circle around tables at an auditorium. I thought this man was the eigth wonder of the world (he was) and anyone who got a King against him was awarded a candy bar..big deal back then. Well I got a candy bar to go with my ass whipping. Now years later I can do the same thing with the slight differance that while Tinsley won ALL his games I win about half if I'm lucky. LOL

A hide instead of ban so you have a record of what was said that can be reviewed by Fencer or The GM's and the violator can not claim that he "posted no such thing." If you ban someone are not all their posts deleted?

Rose: Oh but it does work badly for others. My webtv is like a nightmare. It takes 5 minutes to get on any discussion board and then when you get there you see something brilliant like LOL. Hardly worth it at times.

Jim Dandy: In theory they answer to Fencer but he takes little notice of complaints about them. They answer to each other and cover their backs quite well. It is a lost cause.

For once we are out performing the pc's I guess. It's not great but things still work (sort of) but the pc users must still get on because look at the tons of complaints posted. My friend Kammy tried to get on last night with her pc but gave it up after awhile. I hope things get fixed pretty soon.

Czuch Czuckers: There is a road to the increased responsibility YOU seek. It's milestones are: buy at least a Rook membership, co-moderate some lightly traveled public boards with no problems, then wait for an openning as mod on a public board without trying to FORCE one by attacking an existing moderator. An even faster track might be a Black Rook membership. But you must show good will all along the road. Just my suggestions.

rod03801: One last off-topic post. If I could (use PayPal) don't you think I would? I even went so far as to talk to them on the phone for 20 min. The end result is that everything was fine except for one thing. I needed to confirm by e-mail my password etc and they have a hyper-link I had to use which webtv doesn't recognize. The really strange part is when I renewed my GoldToken membership with my credit card THEY automatically rolled it over and it was billed through my credit card to my non-existant PayPal account. And I have not been smoking. lol

gogul: One needs an address to send it to. Even though he is well known "Fencer..Czech Rep" won't get it there. lol

Fencer: Here is a plan. Publish the address where you recieve your mail and we can send cash. The amounts are usually too small to warrant theivery or mail theft. There is about $1.75 postage to mail overseas but that's no big deal. If American dollars are no good anymore then the world is coming to an end. :)

HalfPawn: Not 100%. I know two people who play on the site right now that can jam programs and one who used to play here.

playBunny: In the distant past I had a FS called the Killing Machine where we climbed to the top of the checker ratings. On the way we encountered many program users and our team was not only able to detect who was using them but which particular program they were using. At first we tried to avoid such people but before long we had assembled enough brilliant young program busters where we took them on at their own game and defeated them. Lots of effort and hardly recommended but it is possible to identify the cheaters. :)
