Thank you for creating the clickable links to the tournaments and letting me know how it is done.
Kevin did it to the ones that I listed on the game board themselves. Makes it lots easier for someone to check it out or join.

Also another thing to watch is that a tournament will not start for a game which does not get at least 4 players signed up. Chess will have no problems, but sometimes the games like Loop Chess may not get 4 players. But there still is plenty of time for someone to signup! :-)

Sure thing! Looking down at a previous post, I think I've already demonstrated my qualifications as a dummy... lol.

Darnit, though! Now I can't decide between Loop Chess and classic. I think I need a few more classic games, so I'll go with that for now... but don't be surprised if I jump to Loop on some early morning when I, once again, haven't gotten enough sleep... or coffee.

Hmm, Wolfie... I don't think I'm rated over 1500 for any game, really, but it's hard to tell since I'm so new here. But... I have estimated my chess rating at around 1400 elos before... not officially, of course. What would that translate into for BKR's -- do you think it would inflate over 1500 when translated?

Nevermind. I wound up on another page and completely missed the bantering about vacations here up front. I musta been thinking about IYT or something.

Time for some sleep... or coffee. This Mountain Dew doesn't seem to be helping... :)

Okay, I'm having a brain cramp here. I can't seem to remember whether vacation days can be applied to tourneys or not. I'm inclined to say they cannot... seems like I read something to that effect.

Am I right?

Yep, added Gothic Chess. It's a good game. Lots of power roaming the board.

Hey! I'm offering a prize in the Dark Chess tournament. Winner, if not me, gets a one year Rook Membership. If I win the tournament, the person that defeated me and finishes highest will get a six month Rook membership or a one year Knight membership their choice. Details on the sign up page. Dang, I still don't know how to make the link, but it's there on the tournament page.

Otsikko: Re: [No timing out on weekends]
When the internet first started becoming a common thing, most people had access at work, but not at home. That's why many game sites set up their systems to not timeout over the weekends. I don't think we need implementation like that much anymore, since most people have access from work, home ,and even elsewhere (friends, palm pilots, internet cafes, etc.), but that's generally how it is. Maybe keep it in place for 1 & 3 day move limits, but get rid of it for the longer limits.

I agree with you grenv but I do not make the rules, If people go away sometimes on the weekends that is what vac. days are for.

actually i was thinking most people have a job during the week! And all you need is to log in once during the day and make a move or three.

what is it about weekends that cause people to be less likely to be able to get to a computer?

23. Heinäkuu 2004, 23:34:05
Kevin
ImUpChucKing: If a game were to time out on Satuday and it was Thursday (2 days away) but Saturday and Sunday were days off it would say there was 4 days until it timed out. In other words, days off and vacation days are added to the time left as necessary so the time left actually is the time left until time out.

Starting August 5th, is the popular "All games for dummies" tournament!

  • All games for players rated UNDER 1500
  • Unrated also can join (but don't join if you are an expert at the game)
  • Great way to learn a new game
  • Great way to play a game without being "killed" by high ranked experts
  • NOTE - Since ratings do change, before the tournament starts, i will remove anyone who is way over the 1500 limit.
  • S I G N - U P - H E R E !
  • ... and have fun!

    Thanks Jason...

So, it seems, that weekends dont just keep you from timing out in a game, but actually stops the time from moving at all? For example, if there are 15 days left to time out, and you have a weekend, there is still 15 days left after the weekend?

IMupChucKing if you had a one day tourney you have one day to move untill it get to friday then it moves to three days , so it you have a seven day one i believe it would be nine days before you had to move , so a 21 day tourney most likely is 27 days ;)

Why not an all games team tourney... really keep em hopping :)

Question.... In a 21 day tournament, it does not include the weekends? So it is really a 27 day event? Is that how it works?

Or does the weekend only come into effect at the end, to save them from a time out? Thanks :)

I am not getting better with age; just worse. I am also not doing so well on IYT. I do not know if altzheimers is creeping in or senility or what. I am really trying to study the board more but I keep making stupid mistakes. Oh well, I am not so concerned about BKR as I am in having fun and meeting some very nice people here on this site.

    LOL Stevie...

Well Harley, there may be no rules against it, yet, but I think by purposly not moving in games that would have normally timed out had it not been for the timer to be defused is no example for anyones game playing (except maybe 'head games')

I know that, IMupChucKing! I'm just saying his speed of play is unimportant to me. I only commented at all because Steve started with "Kevin as captain...". Since I made him captain I felt obliged to reply!

Sorry Stevie, I didn't see anywhere that said captains must play at least X amount of moves per day! Kevin is an excellent captain, he motivates people to play and is a very polite and kind person. Thats all that matters to me.
