It is a Hyper Backgammon tournament using the cube to 21 points. Since Hyper Backgammon can be a quick game, it is perfect to use the 21 point cube with it. Open to everyone. Set to start around November 20th. Good Luck!
I have created this weekend's "live" tournaments. These tournaments will start every 4 hours, so that there should be a convenient one for any time zone or lifestyle. Each player will have 1 hour total, for moves. So this tournament will be over within 2 hours. (A bit longer possibly, as the system doesn't check constantly for time outs)
Obviously, all games may not be playable within these time constraints (Anti backgammon, for example), so choose carefully. If there ends up being interest in 2 hour per player alternate tournaments for these longer games, I will start those. Just PM me.
So, any weekend that you have a block of time available and feel like a quick tournament, check out the tournament list and maybe you will find one, convenient for you. Or go this link to see all my "live" ones in one place:
Mathematically, there is no way for GuineaPig´s Club & HOME to each finish anywhere other than first place in their respective sections in the current anti-chess team tournament. Why not start round two now? Why make us wait??
is seeking players in these games. Chess Chess 4, Backgammon 6, PahTum 8, Pente 6 & Los Alamos 5. It doesn't matter if your good or not, it is for fun mostly! Thank You all

Purple World is currently seeking Pahtum players for the upcoming team tourney. You don't have to be good at it but just want to have fun and enjoy the new game! Come on!! Join us!
Thad: Actually you know on second thought, an improved tournament system was the other thing along with the backgammon double cube - so maybe it will be something that is possible. I'm all for it.
BIG BAD WOLF: BK is already doing all the checking it needs to. It just needs to be smarter about it's decisions...unless BK is written is a poor way currently, whick I hope it's not.
There has to be a check now everytime a (tournament) game is completed to see if the players involved have completed all their games. If they have, certain things happen (declaring winners, starting next rounds, etc.) Instead of checking to see if all games are complete, and then doing the things needed, BK should be smart enough to tell if a section win is assured and perform the next tasks right then, even if all games are not complete.
Even the wrost game site I know of, IYT, has this feature. If they can do it, BK can. ;-)
BIG BAD WOLF: The program could be run separately for each section whenever a game in that section finishes. No need to run over all tournaments at once.
Bry: Well I could probable field 3 teams from my fellowship! Actually I agree with you, it would be nice if for some tournaments if 2 teams could be entered. I always feel bad because some people who were one my previous teams are not in the new teams - but to be fair to all the members, I try to give everyone a chance to enter.
Thad: The reason Fencer gave before was that it would put extra strain on the servers (not to mention extra programming). Since the server would have to scan each tournament, run it's "program" on each tournament to determin if enough has been finished, and would have to do this probable at least once a day on the 1,500 - 2,000 tournaments that are still running. Maybe there could be an easier way, and if so - I would back up that suggestion also.
Why won't you change the system so that upper rounds of tournaments start as soon as the outcome of the previous round is assured? For example, in this tourney, http://brainking.com/en/TeamTournaments?tri=52&trnst=10 the teams seeded first in both brackets will advance, even if they each lose every remaining game. There is no reason to make us sit around and wait for the next round to start. PLEASE, please, please make it so that upper rounds start as soon as they can.
The Sunshine Club is trying to form a Chinese Chess team to compete in the team tournaments. anyone interested, join the Sunshine Club if you havent already and sign up for the team. Gringo is our captain!
BG: oh, she isnt on my back, she's being very polite, i just was making sure some of the way things were done didnt change, like getting notified. i havent been reading the boards and was hoping i didnt time out with other people and didnt know it!! thanks BG
ok, thanks everyone, i thought i would know.. i did time out in the past and got notified, i just wanted to make sure that didnt change, i dont get to read all the boards.
Antje: If you timed out, you'd know. ;) You'd get a notice and the proof would be in that particular game. is it over and if yes, how did it end? It will say if you ran out of time.
I have a question for anyone who signed up for a tournament of mine.
Ive gotten a PM from someone who claims i timed out on one of my games, and she's upset with me for not upholding a better standard.
I never recieved a message that i timed out. i had to go in to work unexpectedly last night and then came home and slept, but i made sure i woke and made the first move on my list before the time went to zero, in fact it was one minute , but i had NO message about a timed out game in my message box. so my questions are:
1. did anyone else time out to me that i dont know of?
2. can it be possible that i time out on a game and not be notified?
arpa: You can leave any current team and join a new team. All current team tournaments which you were originally in will continue like normal with you in them.
Plus since some do not know how to play with the cube, some practice tournaments have been set up where NO BKR Ratings will be effected - great way to jump right in and learn.
