it is brilliant sunshine here at the moment and it looks as tho the rain has gone.....the humidity is over 80% and Im having to use my puffer to help me breathe :(
skipinnz: so someone comming along with a chain saw and slashing the tops of them on a very cold day with with thick snow everywhere is not a good idea
Snoopy: I like your choie of gardening implement, if the wife didn't like roses so much it's what I'd use. No matter how careful I am and with gloves on I still get a thorn in the fingers. Thankfully we don't get snow so I can't imagine it as a problem LOL
skipinnz: oh no it wasnt me..lol around my flat we have a lot of rose trees that are looked after by local council and this is the way they prune them i was concerned that pruning them at this time of year was wrong in such cold weather
Snoopy: actually Snoopy.....roses like a good beat up every now and again....but dont know if they would survive in the snow being treated like that LOL
Well the council had me on the list for the tidy garden thingamajig not that the garden was,nt tidy The other week they came round wanting to do the grass and chop things down. Seeing as the grass did not need cutting they decided to chop down the priviots and were about to start on the apple trees when I went down and asked if they knew what they were chopping down which of course they did,nt I manage to save the apple trees and told em to leave my other trees alone too Bet they thought "Interfearing ole bat" Anyway they had started on next door,s grass(which did need doing) and said well we will cut the front for you. I had to point out that the front was not mine but seeing as they were looking to waste a morning on mine and could,nt they proceeded to do next door,s anyway(addmittedly it did look a lot better by the time they finish and they even sweeped some of the grass up ) I think they must be young lads doing community service for punishment or something as they are certainly not gardners Typical cheap labour.
How do I protect my Roses? They are in a well drained area where they get plenty of water, sun & shade. Now every spring they start growing wonderfully but after a a few months, the spots start appearing & nothing blooms or anything. Would I have to get a sprayer & spray everything around them & what is the best remendy to use?
Bernice: When I do water, it is at the base & pick up all the leaves when they do fall or I just clipped off the entire branch. When the branch starts growing again, the leaves would be coming in thicker & even the buds starts coming in as well. Right when the buds are about to blossom, then the spots start up again. I have other roses in different gardens ( have 7 other 1's) & nothing happens to them at all. Just the 3 that are in a great place. I have to look up black spot spray to see where I can get it tho..TY for the info!
