Chaos: I don't want to put a damper on things, just want to remind you that as a pawn member, you are only eligible to play in one tournament at a time You can, however, all join the same stair, or, organize for an example, a single elimination tournament here and have everybody cooperate with creating their own games
Hi dagger, well we have to create a League together. It's not something one person can do ;) Nothingness is prepared to create a tournament especially for the new League once there are quite some players here. Am I right, Nothingness?
Otsikko: Re: Trying to get SL players + espionage fans on this site together
Chaos: what are you planning to build a new League here? If I invite any new player to come here, I should tell him what is the League and what we are doing. If you need any help, please count on me!
Otsikko: Trying to get SL players + espionage fans on this site together
Hi all, I want to ask those who played in the SL to ask those they know to come here. And to everyone here I'd like to say; ask any espionage fan to come to this board. At IYT we had a great League. Let's try and build one here! :)
does anyone have a link to Sabotage strategies?A potential new player has asked me about the game but I have lost any links I used to have for Saboteurs thoughts etc
thanks for the replies ladies and gent.Figured I might as well become a member anyway Mousetrap so I did that yesterday will take a bit of getting used to this new system I guess,I tried to save 2 different setups yesterday but I must have done something wrong.will try again .See ya's on the boards Jim
tankbattler ace: Hi Jim :) You can save as many set ups as you like, both as member and as non-member. I use several set ups to have something to start with. Somtimes I use a saved set up and change it so I don't have to start from scratch, but have a new set up anyway.
tankbattler ace: As Nothingness said you can save lots of setups. And I fail to understand what you mean as you are a member? Oh I see you just became a member? I dont think it makes any difference. Difference in membership and being a pawn userally just applies to the amount of tournies you can join and joining Fellowships.
yes you can find players easily by clicking player list on the left and typing in any criteria you choose its seems that only one person has SL- before there name.
Mousetrap: Hi Mousetrap, good to meet you here :) I was a real IYT fan as well, and think of switching to a paid membership here. I hope we can get many sabotage fans from IYT here and espionage fans from this site combined. Best to start getting together on this board I guess.
So do mark this board as a favourite board so you can get here straight away and always be noticed when there's a new message.
Chaos: I played in the league at iyt before I became a non member there. I was dissatisfied with the league games there though. Because when we had to send our own invites some people never even use to reply. If you start up again here you can count me in. Its getting people to move here though as some are diehard iyt fans. I was one myself not so long ago.
Otsikko: Re: One more player needed for tournament
Tournament: I'm in :)
Pond: Thanks for explanation of pond. Didn't realise it was a game in its own right, rather a style of tournament (sounded good, that if you beat them, they fell into the pond!!!)
Fellowship: Nothingness, thanks for invite to the espionage freaks fellowship.
Vikings: thank you for your explanation (and congrats with your victory ;), I now grasp the idea of the pond game. I thought a pond was a tournament form for any game, but I see it's a game in itself. Indeed it has nothing to do with espionage.
Chaos: You have to be a paying member to play in ponds, there are public ponds and fellowship only ponds. Just like the other sites, there are "perks" for being a paid member. As far as understanding ponds, perhaps it might be better to look at a finished pond move for move, here is one you can look at http://brainking.com/en/Pond?bms=0&g=4630 , You might just recognize the winner!;-)
Vikings: Indeed we may ask things that aren't immediately involved with espionage, but we are dedicated fans of the game and want to check out how to get a group together here. So I think it's best to keep the talk here. Thank you for explaining about the pond, eventhough I still don't grasp everything about it. Can anyone get into a pond? Can you make an espionage pond? I don't get the multiplayer thing.
One thing I really dislike about the fellowship is that you have to be a paid member... Also I find it very hard to find players here. I mean I tried to check for players beginning with "SL" but couldn't find them eventhough Mark is clearly here!
I there another way we could create an espionage group? I mean it would be great if we could find eachother easily and inform/invite people for tournaments etc.
Nothingness, moving the League to here would be great!!! I'm afraid it would take a lot of time, because we should contact most of former IYT players and ask them to move to BK. However it is feasible and would make the League alive again.
i do have a espionage fellowship in which i am boss but it is fairly inactive. I will be sponsoring a tourney very soon which will have a membership prize. I have 200 brains to spend and will offer them as a prize to the winners. I am interested in bringing the Sabotage/espionage league here to Brainking. Hopefully if enough IYT players convert, we can have them get involved in this tourney. Perhaps instead of SL it will end up being EL. since the game is called espionage here not sabotage.
SL-Mark: a pond is the only multi-player game on here so far, there are others that are being considered there are 3 different types of ponds, here are the rules How to play "Run around the Pond?"
1) All participants start with 20,000 points which are to be reasonably used for the whole run.
2) During each move, a player can use any amount of remaining points. The used points are valid only in the current move and after the round is finished, they are definitely lost.
3) The player who uses the least amount of points in the current round, falls to the pond and is expelled from the game. All his remaining points are forfeited and nobody else can use them. If more than one player use least amount of points in the same round, all of them plop to the water and are out of the game. In the Run in the rain variant, the player who uses the most amount of points falls to the pond too.
4) If a player has no points left, he must make the next move with 0 points and it is very unlikely he will stay on the pondside.
5) The player who uses the most points in the current round (the second most points in the Run in the rain variant), receives a bonus of 500 points which will be added to his remaining points. If more than one player use the highest amount in the same round, no bonus will be given to anyone.
6) The player who does not make a move before the current round deadline (similar to a timeout), automatically uses the same amount of points as in the previous round. Warning! No days off (weekends, vacations, holidays) are applied in this game.
7) Every player who does not make the first move (after the run is started), automatically falls to the pond along with players who use the least amount of points. In the Run in the rain variant, this is applied to players who use the most amount of points too.
8) The game is finished either when only one player stays on the pondside (this player is the winner) or all players are squelching in the pond (nobody wins).
We are getting off topic for this board, I would suggest moving the conversation to this board http://brainking.com/en/Board?bc=1
It is a busier board so you will get feedback from more people than just me
So we could create an SL fellowship, run tournaments, team tournaments, and have a dedicated discussion board?
Have been playing here a short while, creating games in the waiting room, and challenging those who have created games. Have played enough games to see myself in the espionage BKR list (like a ladder?)
But still can't fathom out much of the stuff here. In honesty, haven't had the time to read up on it all....
So what is a Pond?
Have decided not to renew my IYT membership, instead spent my hard earned money on a membership here!
Fellowships give any player with Brain Knight or higher level a possibility to join a "virtual game club" on BrainKing.com. Each fellowship is created and organized by its Big Boss (any player with Brain Rook or higher level), can contain player teams of all game types, its members can discuss at the fellowship's private discussion board. More features (internal Big-Boss-controlled fellowship tournaments, team tournaments, ...) will be implemented later.
Members of a fellowships can have ranks with different rights and features. This is a description of the ranks:
* Member - normal fellowship member. He/she can join the teams, read and write to discussion boards of the fellowship. * Manager - besides all advantages of normal members he/she can become a captain of any team and set team ranks of their players. * Big Boss - the ruler of the fellowship. Besides all advantages of managers he/she can allow players to join his/her fellowship, ban players for this fellowship, set ranks of all members (define managers etc.) and write fellowship news (displayed on the fellowship's main page). Only a member with Brain Rook or higher level can become the Big Boss.
And this is a description of the team ranks:
* Player - normal team member. * Captain - the team leader. He/she can throw players out of the team, organizes team matches etc. Only a member with manager or higher rank can become a team captain.
The best way would be to join a fellowship dedicated to espionage, such as Espionage Freaks! but you have to be a paying member to join. You can however network with members of that fellowship and possibly ask a member to start a tournament that you could play in. But, remember that as a non paying member, you can only play in one tournament at a time
I'd like to sign up for some Open Fast Espionage tournaments, but I realized that most tournaments are still "open" with no players signed up for Open Fast. How can I find tournaments which will really start in a few days? Thanks.
Well this is a long time coming and i have been waiting for this myself for quite a few years. I'm sure that there is much more room for Growth here @ BK. Perhaps the addition of the new game we have been waiting for for years at IYT in which was never delivered upon. There are tons of players at IYT that could help this site grow even stronger. as well as the world of Sabotage/Espionage...the conversion in my opinion is a necessary step in the evolution of espionage.
Hi all, I've played at BrianKing years ago, I now come here to discuss the possibilies to form a Espionage group here at BrainKing. I've been a very active member of the Sabotage League at IYT, but since we lost our messageboard there and because of other limitations at IYT it's become hard to continue our group. Fencer posted the following message on our League's forum:
Hello guys, I am Filip Rachunek, the BrainKing site owner. I am not fully sure what your league is about and what changes it requires, but if someone can send me a descrïptive summary of that, I would be glad to discuss it (preferably at BrainKing's Espionage discussion board [...])
I need players for the tournament "My 3rd Espionage Tournament." I am the defending champion. The tournament has been postponed. So if you or you know of anyone who plays Espionage please signup for this tournament. Thanks.
