BIG BAD WOLF: The only problem with that is if I set up a game where the minimum bid is 19,000 in a game where the person with the lowest bid gets booted from the game, then technically anyone who bids the minimum should be gone! I think bidding the minimum (lowest possible) and staying in the game just isnt right or in the spirit of the intended game.
I think this problem could be solved if I just made the rules a minimum 19000 bid and anyone who bids below 19001 will be asked to bid 0 the next round, then it would be clear from the beggining that anyone who bids below 19001 will be gone.
I know what you are trying to do - and that is get a game to start with 1,000 points each - but that is not was is being done here (Fencer will hopefully get it set up do to this at some point.)
What is being done is a game that starts with 20,000 points WITH a minimum first bet of 19,000.... which is similar to a game that starts with 1,000 points - but not the same.
If you want everyone to bid above 19,001 in the first bid - then I would think that would be inportant information to have in the rules of the game before it starts.
If someone bids the minimum bet ( o ) in a normal game, they are gone, it should be the same in every game... If you bet the minimum bet you should be out of the game.
Czuch Chuckers: Then what is called the minimum by your logic isn't really the minimum, is it? I've listed both cases and you still aren't grasping it. The next time you set up one of these Minimum Bet Pond games would you clearly, let me repeat that, clearly state exactly how much must be bet on one's first turn?
It says 19000 and you ask for it as the minimum, then 19000 is acceptable as far as I can see. If you really mean 19000 + 1 or more, please state that. Then I'll know the real minimum is actually 19001 and nothing will have changed except that. Then you'll have someone bet 19001 and someone wil bet 1856 and you'll be right back here arguing the same thing we've been arguing about all day, because it's still the minimum and it doesn't change nothing.
Walter Montego: Walter, I think you missed the point. Let ME try to be simpler. In a normal game 0 is the minimum bet. As such, any bet of 0 is perfectly legal. Also it will guarantee you falling into the poind. I am saying that in our game 19000 is the same: perfectly legal, but guarantees your exit.
Walter Montego: Yes, I agree I will have to be more clear next time. But, like Grenv stated, in a normal game the minimum bet is 0 and you will always be out of the game with a zero bet. I just thought it was self evident that a bet of 19,000 was the same as betting 0 in a normal game, and you should be in the pond.
And Stevie... yes a minimum bet is okay, just as a bet of 0 in a normal game is okay, it just means you do not continue in the game.
