I DON'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO DO WHAT YOU SUGGEST ON WEBTV UNFORTUNATELY! 8^(
WEBTV IS A REMOTE INTERNET RECEIVING DEVICE THAT DISPLAYS ON THE TV SCREEN (COMPARABLE TO YOUR PC MONITOR). THERE
IS NO HARD DRIVE, AND NO WAY TO DOWNLOAD ANYTHING TO IT AS A RESULT.
I WILL CONTINUE TRYING TO NAVIGATE THE
BK TOOLBAR AND MENU LINKS HERE IN THE MEANTIME. MAYBE SOMETHING WILL CROP UP THAT WILL HELP ME OUT. I SURE COULD USE A
TOOL THAT WOULD ENLARGE THE TEXT HERE!!!
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE INPUT, PAULOAGUIA.

In order to prevent a panic, nothing like that is planned for BrainKing. At least until a balanced and useful version of this idea is worked out and we are sure that we really need it.

Sujet: Re: vacation
ellieoop: there is a difference though :

suppose a game time outs the day after tomorrow, it is set as a automatic vacation day when the game tries to time out, it tries to time out again a day later, it is set as an automatic vacation day as well, then the day after that it tries to time out again.

now if you had set those 2 days (day after tomorrow and the day after that) as fixed vacation days and you would have moved today, then the time calculation would notice that those 2 days are vacation days and those 2 days are added to the time which wont make the game time out on the day after the day after the day after tomorrow, but 2 days later

so setting fixed vacation days really adds the time to the timeout .. while automatic vacation days first let the game use up their time, and then add a day when needed .. leaving it with 1 day max at the end after the automatic vacation days (where fixed vacation days might leave you with more days after those days)

Where do I find an explanation of what Auto-pass is? I see the option to enable auto-pass on the gammon games in my Settings, but while it seems to me the phrase "auto-pass" on that page should be a link which would take me to an explanation of what it is, it isn't. And it isn't explained in the rules for Backgammon either, so I gave up and came here.

Do we have a glossary of site features somewhere or something, so that everybody who wonders about this kind of thing doesn't have to bug people on the discussion boards about it?

Many thanks...

When there are games in the fellowship waiting room, I don't get this message now, so can't set up new games

There are no public waiting games here at the moment. You can create New game that will be added to this area for other players.

SEAWOLF2: I don't know the first thing about webtv or anything. But if you say the pieces appeared larger before, maybe your browser is shrinking the board to fit on the screen? Try removing the left menu bar (at Settings page) and the notation column and see if that helps.

Again, I'm just guessing here, don't know if it has anything to do with it.

Is it possible for us to add a button anywhere, like in a Profile or top of a Discussion board.

I HOPE THIS IS THE APPROPRIATE BOARD TO REQUEST HELP HERE ON BK?
I AM A NEW PLAYER AND I AM ALSO VISION IMPAIRED AND USE WEBTV TO ACCESS THE GAMES HERE. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THERE IS A GAME SETTING TO ENLARGE THE SIZE OF THE GAME PIECES FOR THE ESPIONAGE GAMES AS THERE IS FOR THE CHESS, CHECKERS, AND OTHER GAMES HERE? I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ANY SETTTINGS TO ENLARGE THE SIZE OF ESPIONAGE GAME PIECES ON MY OWN. THE NUMBERS OF THE GENERAL PIECES ARE JUST WAY TOO
SMALL TO SEE ON THE ACTUAL GAME
BOARD. WHEN I WAS SETTING UP THE BOARD THE PIECES APPEARED TO BE MUCH LARGER, BUT ONCE THE GAME
PLAY ACTUALLY BEGAN THE NUMBERS ON THE PIECES SEEMED TO "SHRINK"
DOWN?! HELP PLEASE!!!

TIA FOR ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME

That works really well.  I don't have time to read about 2,200 features, so I let other people tell me what's good.  You did a great job.  That really helps with entering things in the plain text editor box.  That lil thing is dinky.  But, don't tell Fencer I said that.

Oooh, I just discovered a very cool feature in the Safari 3.0 public beta (also available for Windows, in case anyone didn't know) that isn't in Firefox: these text fields we type our messages into on brainking? They can be resized - along both the X and Y axes - by dragging the little zoom lines in the lower right corner of the field, just like a window. Very cool indeed.

Okay, I'm done.

So, can I send Fencer a message each time I collect 25 seeds in Mancala and my opponent keeps on playing? ;-)

OTOH, that situation is much easier to program than a Go endgame.

jadarite: Just don't visit http://brainking.com and your account will go old and not be used again.

If you need help not visiting the site again, here are some fun steps:

1. Get a piece of paper.
2. Write down 10 random letters & numbers
3. Go to "My profile", and near the top - click on "change password"
4. Put those 10 random letters & numbers in as your new password
5. Save & log out
6. Destroy the paper before you have a chance to remember the password.
7. Ta-Da, can't sign back on!

Just click on 'new game' under the games menu (it should be the near the upper left hand of your screen).

Select the game and then you'll be presented with a lot of options. Just hit 'continue' (it explains this on the page as well) and your game will go into the waiting games pool for others to see.

I do have good virus protection, and I never download links, but this thing is persistent, and is even bugging me when I'm on my Mac. It won't allow me to close it down. Is it coming from one of the banner ads? It's just happened again in my game with Hrqls. Maybe it's him.

Could be linked to the same problem, sounds like Spyware, something called Errorprotector there though & also banner ads that have been showing up.
If you have a decent Virus protector, Firewall and pop up Blocker you should be fine. I know AVG (grisoft.com) do some good free stuff & if you use Firefox you can get an add-on called Add Block Plus.
