please people .. can this be a discussion about vacation days in general and the possibility to abuse it .. dont turn this into a thread about 1 person
thats not what this board is about .. this board is about brainking
Oceans Apart: how about ppl only getting there vacation days back on the day they use them ie...if i used one on 1st May i wouldnt get it back till the 1st of May next year
Oceans Apart: it was a general comment on how ppl are abusing vacation days and nothing is being done about it as Dhass said its a side of the site that needs looking at as i know from many messages ive received theres tons of other ppl who have the same problem
"Snoopy": also this person reckons that he can get away with anything and Fencer cant touch him...so if you are THAT immune you can do what you want..even if it means paying for extra membership and using the holidays up.......
"Snoopy": I do have to agree with Snoopy. Because of some people abusing these vacation days and waiting until the very last minute, games that normally should be over in a week have taken me even a month. I know I have a chess game from a tournament still going where the person used up all vacation days at the end of the year, and when new days were issued, he burnt all those up too - it is not like he was not on the site either - he just chooses to ignore our game...
I know there may not be much that can be done, but it seems ridiculous that no one is at least looking into it....
"Snoopy": I looked at that link and he looks to have timed out ....you won the game.....but this person is known to do that especially if he isnt winning the game, but unfortunately there isnt anything you can do about it....it is his choice to move or not to move, by utilizing his holidays
it saddens ppl when you have ppl that people on the site who refuse to move in some games nearly 1 month after me making a move they rather uses vacation days up than play a fair game
TarantinoFan: Depends on when a person has their weekend days set. So if the 2 weekend days are early in the 9 days, then 2 weekend days + 5 regular days + 2 more weekend days + 4 more regular days = 13 days (which may be why you see 12 1/2 hours left on time)
BIG BAD WOLF: So it is counting 9 weekdays and 2 weekends then? That kinda makes sense then. I was only expecting it to give 11 days though. Wasn't thinking that we were right at the start of a weekend now.
Can someone please tell me why a tournament with a 9 day time control is showing 12 days 15 hours for the next move? Did I do something wrong in the set up?
Fencer: Crumbs well I only use it so that I don,t have to go all the way round the world to sign in to my other browser. I can try another browser though sometime. Thanks very much!
Is anyone else still having trouble with posting? I userally have to highlight everything before I can read my posts. It has been going on ever since the new layout.
TeamBundy: Using a Firefox 1.0.7 is not a good idea anyway. You should upgrade to 2.0, at least for security reasons. But don't panic - I am just putting the dragon to the CSS layer completely, so it will be associated only with the Castle style in all aspects. And it's the cleanest solution, even from the programmer's point of view.
and... the first thing that appeared after changing to the "no-fonts mode" was.... yes... The dragon! Any help on how to get rid of it? I'd appreciate it very much!
P.S. The fact that the dragon appears here as well pretty much nullifies my previous comment...
BIG BAD WOLF: If i understood correctly, the only way to shut off the dragon is by selecting the "No fonts" option. Am I correct?
I didn't exactly understood who put the dragon in (I would have imagine it coming from either Fencer or Liquid, but I don't quite follow why Pauloguia made a comment where it sounded like it was him. The reason for this question/comment is that I find it bad that things just pop up for no particular reason and that the only way to eliminate it, is by deselecting most of the design. This makes all the work put into the design as somewhat of a waste, as due to some annoying thing, one prefers to get rid of it, even at the price of just turning the design into its simplest mode.
The reason it annoys me, is actually not its flying. The reason is that in the browsers window, a "loading" message starts showing a loading message in the bottom part of the window. It's distracting from what one is currently doing (moving, thinking, writing messages). It kind of feels like somebody is poking you while being only (characteristically of annoying people or kids :-) ).
Anyway, I just wanted to add my comment with regard to the Dragon. Cheers!
In a fellowship, as a BIG BOSS you can send 2 types of messages - (1) message to all members and (2) message to everyone in one team.
Now I know if someone turned off the "get message from BIG BOSS" option, they will not get the message sent to everyone. But will they get the message that is sent to everyone on the team?
I just need to know if I can use that option to get to everyone, or if I should send individual messages to each member. Thanks.
Even though we use my own .css file, in settings, the choice is still set to castle.
Choose the "No Font" option. Since you are still using a .css file, it will still show up the same, but the buggy dragon will no longer be there. Wow, what a waste of a day tracing this bug.....
pauloaguia: A feature is something that does something - makes something better - this has no effect other then a little "flash" - nothing I would call a feature - a bug since he did not program a way to turn if off BEFORE he introduced it. It reminds me when redesigning our Hot Air Balloon website, I had all these little hot air balloons floating on the screen - it was REALLY cool. But even though it was really cool and worked very well for my browser, I did not realize that it messed some people up to the point that they were unable to see the site. Looking back, I know the extra fun "flash" for the site, I should have made it an option to turn on/off. Anyway, I'm babbleing now....
pauloaguia: Maybe it's just BBW's style, because I saw him mention it too. It seems to slow down my cursor in these text boxes too. Please give us a way to shut it off!
rod03801: I've tried switching to castle, clicking on any page (to activate the dragon) and then switchingback to simple style. The dragon still appears (since the source code has been created while I had the castle style) and the dragon flew by many many links (I was at the translator tool). They all work... Maybe it's a bug in the browser you're using...
Ifso many people are having problems with it, then I'd assume they're using a personal stylesheet. Apparently, in this case the code for the castle is still being assumed, since I can only see the HTML for the dragon when castly stylesheet is selected. Maybe Fencer forgot to exclude personal stylesheets as well...
Fencer: It's good to see a feature that finally bares no complaints from Opera users, unlike from other browser(s). It works perfectly in Opera
pauloaguia: Ahh.. it probably matters which style you use. The style I use has the links starting right at the top of the page where the dragon flies. Every single one it crosses, stops working after it crosses it.
rod03801: But the dragon doesn't go over any links. It just flies over the castle top, where there's nothing to click. Even if I scroll the page down, the dragon simply disappears from my browser's view, flying in a no link zone...
I don't think I like the dragon! I thought it was neat the first time I saw it. (Of course, I at first thought I was losing my mind, lol) But yeah, it seems to stop the links it crosses from working. I DEFINITELY don't like it on the game pages! Maybe if it was only on the log-in page, or AT MOST the "Main Page".
BIG BAD WOLF: On Opera you can block content on a "per-item" basis. That way I could block only the Dragon, if I wanted to... But then again, I suppose you won't change from Firefox just because of alittle dragon
Rose: Yea, I went ahead and installed the AdBlock on this computer also - so I could hide the dragon - it also hides all the ad's on the site also. I just hope Fencer will put an option to not show it since I'm not going to be able to load the AdBlock extension on every computer I play from..... but I wanted to mention it in case someone else see's the problem and they don't think they are going nuts with some links not working.
